‘Yellowstone' star Luke Grimes reacts to his new spinoff ‘Y: Marshalls'
Kayce Dutton isn't hanging up his cowboy hat, yet. 'Yellowstone' star Luke Grimes, 41, will return for a spinoff series called 'Y: Marshals,' CBS announced. According to the official logline, 'With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals.' The plot will follow Kayce as he combines, 'his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region's war on violence.' Grimes posted the news on Instagram with the caption, 'Cowboys don't say goodbye, they say see you later.' 7 Luke Grimes attends the Paramount's 'Yellowstone' Season 5 Part 2 Premiere at Museum of Modern Art on November 07, 2024. Paramount Network The hit cowboy drama premiered in 2018 and ended in 2024 after a five season run that attracted over 17 million viewers, according to Paramount. Ahead of the Season 5 premiere, 'Yellowstone' star Ian Bohen coyly told The Post that 'it's not necessarily' the end. The story followed the Dutton family, owners of the largest ranch in Montana, including patriarch John (Costner) and his adult children Kayce (Luke Grimes), Jamie (Wes Bentley), Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Beth's husband, Rip (Cole Hauser). When the show ended, Costner left after the first half of Season 5, amid rumors of a feud with Sheridan. The show handled this by killing John off. 7 Luke Grimes in 'Yellowstone.' Paramount Jamie, who was indirectly responsible, got killed in the finale, and Rip and Beth headed off for new pastures – and another spinoff show. Meanwhile, Kayce sold his family's iconic ranch to Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birminghan), the leader of the local Native American community who was John Dutton's sometimes enemy, sometimes ally – for the paltry price of a dollar twenty-five an acre, since that's the deal their ancestors made. His condition was that Rainwater could never develop the ranch or sell it and Kayce and his family gets to stay in East Camp, the area where he lives with his family. So, 'Yellowstone' left Kayce living a quiet life on a small corner of his family's ranch, which he was no longer in charge of. But, his new spinoff show will have him see more action and adventure as he reconnects with his military past. 7 Luke Grimes as Kacey Dutton and Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton. Michelle Pfeiffer will star in another spinoff called 'The Madison,' and after the prequel series spinoff '1923' had a heartbreaking ending, it's still getting a follow-up series called '1944.' During a November 2024 interview, Grimes told The Post that the show has been a one of a kind experience. 'Any time we got to do any of the big cowboy stuff – like on horseback with cattle – with a lot of the cast and a lot of the real cowboys, there's no way to fake moving cattle. Or CGI cattle. So we'd actually just have to get on [horses] and do it.' He added, 'I don't know any other way in my life in which I would have had that experience.' 7 Bianca Rodrigues and Luke Grimes attend Paramount's 'Yellowstone' Season 5 New York Premiere at Walter Reade Theater on November 03, 2022 in New York City. 'Yellowstone' creator Taylor Sheridan will exec produce, but the showrunner will be Spencer Hudnut ('SEAL Team').'In terms of Taylor's involvement, we're still early in the process. He's a very busy guy, but we'll take what we can get,' CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach told reporters, per Variety.

CBS' 2025-2026 Fall TV Lineup Reveal Confirms Luke Grimes' Yellowstone Return And First All-NCIS Night, But I'm More Shocked By That Taylor Sheridan And Blake Shelton Team-Up
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. The 2025 TV schedule just got real interesting as CBS announced its primetime lineup for the '25-'26 season. After renewing nine shows at once, along with bringing a bunch of others back, CBS is also introducing some new projects, like Kayce's Yellowstone spinoff and singing competition produced by Taylor Sheridan and starring Blake Shelton. Plus, we're getting some exciting schedule changes, like a full night devoted to NCIS. So, let's break it all down. So, let's start with the upcoming Yellowstone show. Luke Grimes will reprise his role as Kayce Dutton in Y: Marshals, which is a working title. The series will follow the youngest Dutton as he 'joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals.' At the end of Yellowstone, we left Kayce kind of on the Dutton Ranch after he gave most of it back to the Broken Rock people. According to this new show's synopsis, that ranch is 'behind him,' and this new series will combine 'his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana.' Y: Marshals will join the CBS primetime lineup in the spring of 2026 in the 9 p.m. slot on Sunday, and it will be another addition to the growing list of Yellowstone shows, which includes upcoming projects like the Rip and Beth spinoff, Dutton Ranch, Michelle Pfeiffer's The Madison and the prequel 1944. For the first time ever, CBS is putting three of its NCIS shows on one night. Starting in the fall of 2025, the franchise will take up the entire 8-11 p.m. slot on Tuesdays. This means Season 23 of NCIS will air at 8 p.m. It will be followed by Season 2 of NCIS: Origins at 9 p.m. Then, the day will end with Season 3 of NCIS: Sydney at 10 p.m. So, if you love the world of NCIS, Tuesdays will be your night to tune in, because it's all CBS will be airing. Paramount Plus: from $7.99 a month/$79.99 a yearAll of CBS's programming, including the NCIS shows, is also available on Paramount+. For as little as $7.99 per month, you can have access to it all. You can also upgrade to Premium (which is $12.99 per month), and get access to Showtime and take away ads. View Deal Now, the two aforementioned topics are massive news. However, I might be more shocked by a new show that was announced with this schedule. Before Y: Marshals takes the stage on Sundays in the spring, The Road will air during that 9 p.m. slot this fall. This is a new singing competition produced by Yellowstone's mastermind Taylor Sheridan, and it will feature Blake Shelton, Keith Urban and Gretchen Wilson. This will mark Shelton's return to the world of singing competitions after his tenure as a coach on The Voice, and he'll get to collaborate with Urban and Wilson, who are both dominant voices in the country music world. Overall, this sounds epic, and considering the team behind it, I'm in shock and awe over this new show. Along with all of that, CBS did announce its full line-up, which included a handful of new shows that are worth mentioning. Along with The Road, the fall programming will include the Blue Bloods follow-up, Boston Blue, the first Fire Country spinoff, Sheriff Country, the Tom Ellis-led series CIA, and a new comedy called DMV. Meanwhile, the midseason premieres will include Harlan Coben's Final Twist and America's Culinary Cup, as well as the return of Watson for Season 2 after the Season 1 finale that will – to quote the showrunner – "go bang!" Adding to the excitement, a ton of beloved shows, like Ghosts, Tracker and Fire Country, are returning too, and you can see CBS's full 2025-2026 lineup below: Monday 8p.m.: The Neighborhood 8:30 p.m.: DMV 9 p.m.: FBI 10 p.m.: CIA Tuesday 8 p.m.: NCIS 9 p.m.: NCIS: Origins 10 p.m.: NCIS: Sydney Wednesday 8 p.m.: Survivor (Fall '25) / Survivor 50 (Spring '26) 9: 30 p.m.: The Amazing Race (Fall '25) / America's Culinary Cup (Spring '26) JANUARY: 8 p.m.: Hollywood Squares / 9 p.m.: The Price is Right at Night / 10 p.m. Harlan Coben's Final Twist Thursday 8 p.m.: Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage 8:30 p.m.: Ghosts 9 p.m.: Matlock 10 p.m.: Elsbeth Friday 8 p.m.: Sheriff Country 9 p.m.: Fire Country 10 p.m.: Boston Blue Saturday 8 p.m.: CBS Encores 9 p.m.: CBS Encores 10 p.m.: 48 Hours Sunday 8 p.m.: Tracker 9 p.m.: The Road (Fall '25) / Y: Marshals (Spring '26) 10 p.m.: CBS: Encores (Fall '25) / Watson (Spring '26) Overall, CBS's lineup for the next season is thrilling, and I can't wait for it. However, we'll have to wait a few months for it. Have no fear, though. Everything from CBS's schedule this season is available with a Paramount+ subscription, so you have plenty of time to get caught up and stay entertained while we wait for this next season of programming.

Kayce Dutton's story continues with Luke Grimes in Yellowstone spinoff in development at CBS
CBS has announced the return of Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton in a new spinoff series set within the Yellowstone universe. Tentatively titled Y: Marshals, the show is scheduled to premiere in spring 2026 as part of CBS's 2025-26 lineup. Grimes, who portrays Kayce, will be part of an elite team of U.S. Marshals, combining his cowboy and Navy SEAL skills to bring justice to the Montana range. The plot details remain under wraps, but the series is expected to explore Kayce's new role with the U.S. Marshals, a natural progression following his involvement in the Yellowstone saga. The spinoff will also likely feature Kayce's wife, Monica (Kelsey Asbille), and their son, Tate. Y: Marshals marks one of seven new series that CBS has ordered for the upcoming season, continuing the expansion of the Yellowstone franchise. Y: Marshals joins several other spinoffs currently in the works, including The Madison, which features Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Fox. Set in central Montana, The Madison follows a New York family's emotional journey of grief and human connection. Meanwhile, there have been ongoing rumours about a potential spinoff focusing on Yellowstone's fan-favourite couple, Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser), although nothing has been confirmed yet. As Yellowstone concluded its run in December 2024, fans of the series will be pleased to know that the Dutton family's saga will continue with this new chapter. The finale saw Kayce sell the family's ranch to Chief Thomas Rainwater, while also ensuring his family could remain on their land. Grimes had previously hinted at the possibility of a spinoff, noting the pressure to continue the story due to Yellowstone's massive success. With Y: Marshals, the Yellowstone franchise expands its reach, giving fans even more drama and action as Grimes reprises his iconic role. The series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, with Taylor Sheridan, John Linson, and others attached as executive producers.

Yellowstone finally confirms update on Beth and Rip's return - and it's sooner than you think
The much-anticipated sequel to Yellowstone has a tentative release date, and it's closer than you might expect. Fans were waiting nearly two years for the second half of the fifth season following Kevin Costner's departure, with the final episode seemingly concluding the Duttons' saga last December. However, it was later confirmed that main characters Beth Dutton (played by Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) would be returning for a follow-up series. The latest addition to the growing list of Yellowstone spin-offs will continue the story of the ranching power couple after the death of Beth's father, John Dutton (Costner). A recent Bloomberg report suggests that Paramount co-CEO Chris McCarthy and Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan are gearing up to launch the new spin-off this autumn, reports the Mirror US. The series, currently titled Dutton Ranch, will be exclusively available on Paramount+, reportedly in just a few months. The plot details for Dutton Ranch remain under wraps, particularly given that Beth's brother Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) sold the Yellowstone ranch to its former rival, Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham). Kayce planned to stay on the land with his wife, Monica (Kelsey Asbille), and their son, Tate (Brecken Merrill), while Beth and Rip considered relocating to a smaller area near Dillon, Montana. Their tranquil haven, a significant departure from their tumultuous past entwined with criminal exploits, is at risk of collapsing when the duo re-emerge on our screens in the coming months. Reilly had stirred excitement on her personal Instagram account when she affirmed with a "true [love heart emoji]" in response to a fan's inquiry about the spin-off. Her thrilled colleague Hauser shared with People magazine: "America has spoken and they still love the show. "Hopefully, we can continue to get in people's living rooms and entertain them the way we have over the last seven years." In related news, mastermind showrunner Sheridan is purportedly brewing early plans for Kayce's standalone venture on CBS, as anticipative audiences bide their time for other forthcoming spin-offs, The Madison and 1944, both slated for release in 2026. In another move, the prolific television maestro Sheridan has roped in a Yellowstone fan favourite for the upcoming season of his freshly successful Paramount drama, Landman. 1883's Sam Elliot, famed for his portrayal of veteran Shea Brennan, is appointed for a mystery role opposite the esteemed Billy Bob Thornton, who plays the enterprising oil company landman Tommy Norris.

Yellowstone over? Ha. Don't make us laugh. This one is a procedural in which Luke Grimes would reprise his role of Beth's kid brother, Kayce. (TVLine has reached out to CBS for independent verification.)
