BIAL completes India's largest unlisted bond issuance in the airport sector, raising Rs 9,000 crore
Bangalore International Airport Limited ( BIAL ), operator of Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru on Friday announced that it has successfully concluded the largest unlisted private placement of Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs) in India's airport sector, raising a total of Rs 9,000 crore. The deal is completed, officials said. The transaction is being undertaken in two tranches of Rs 4,362 crore completed on July 25, 2025, and Rs 4,638 crore scheduled for early October 2025. Kempegowda Airport posts record profit for first time since inception
Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru has reported a record profit for the first time since its inception, signifying a robust financial turnaround, according to the BIAL sources. The Bangalore International Airport Authority (BIAL) held its board meeting on May 16, presided over by its Chairperson and Chief Secretary to the Government of Karnataka, Shalini Rajneesh, a press statement said. "The meeting marked a historic milestone as Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) reported a record profit for the first time since its inception, signifying a robust financial turnaround and a testament to the airport's strategic growth, sustainability initiatives, and operational excellence," the statement added. In addition to its strong financial performance, BLR Airport has earned multiple prestigious global recognitions in 2025, further cementing its position as a leader in sustainable and safe airport operations worldwide, it said. According to the statement, BLR Airport became the first airport in Asia to achieve Level 5 Accreditation under ACI's Airport Carbon Accreditation programme, effective May 5, 2024. This distinction celebrates an outstanding 95.6 per cent reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions, with the airport achieving net-zero status (Scope 1 and 2) a full seven years ahead of its 2030 target, it said. "In the environmental category, the airport also received the Silver Award in the ACI Green Airports Recognition 2025 under the 'Sustainable Energy at Airports' theme for the 15-38 million passenger category. This marks the fourth consecutive year that BLR Airport has been recognised for its sustainability leadership," it stated.

Operation Sindoor effect: Flights from Bengaluru to 5 states cancelled
Bengaluru: The Indian Army has retaliated to the Pahalgam terror attack by launching missile strikes on terror camps in Pakistan. Meanwhile, flights have been cancelled in various parts of India following instructions from the central government. Similarly, flights from Bengaluru to other states have been cancelled. As a precautionary measure, flights from Bengaluru to Jammu and Kashmir, Jodhpur in Rajasthan, Ayodhya in UP, Lucknow and Ghaziabad have been cancelled. Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru tweeted that there are restrictions on flights in some aviation areas, which is likely to affect the services of some flights in our network. Therefore, passengers are requested to check the flight schedules of their respective airlines before arriving at the airport. Passengers can get the changes in their flight schedules through the official Twitter (X) accounts of the respective airlines, it said. Flight restrictions have been imposed on some air routes in the wake of the missile attack. Therefore, the Mangalore Airport has informed passengers that there is a possibility of disruption in flight operations. A notification has been issued by the Mangalore Airport Administration Division to check before going to the airport.
