In his remarks at the opening ceremony, Khalayleh reiterated Jordan's longstanding dedication to promoting Quranic education and memorisation. He highlighted the Kingdom's extensive network of Koranic centres across the country and its continued efforts in organising and participating in local and international Quran competitions. Khalayleh noted that Her Majesty's sponsorship of the event reflects a deep commitment to empowering young Muslim women and strengthening their relationship with the Holy Koran, not only in terms of recitation, but as a comprehensive way of life guided by its principles. He also underscored the importance of a sound understanding of the Koran as a foundation for ethical conduct, the promotion of justice, compassion, and tolerance, as well as the preservation of social harmony and national security. Director of Women's Affairs at the Ministry Lamis Hazaymeh said that this year's competition brings together 44 participants from 40 Arab and Islamic countries, in addition to Jordan. She commended the ministry's sustained efforts in organising the annual competition over the past two decades. Launched under Royal support in 1993, the competition is one of the oldest and most prestigious international Quran competitions of its kind. It includes national and international categories for both men and women, and has seen nearly 45,000 participants since its inception. Page 2

Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalayleh reaffirmed Jordan's enduring commitment to hosting Quranic competitions under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah. He highlighted the King's continuous support for Quranic institutions, the Ministry of Awqaf, and individuals dedicated to memorising the Holy Quran. Khalayleh noted that this year's competition coincides with the last ten days of Ramadan, a sacred period in which the Quran was revealed. He also underscored Jordan's pioneering role in launching this globally recognised event, which has produced many distinguished Quran memorisers. Students from the ministry's Quranic centres have consistently achieved top rankings in international competitions, he added. To further encourage Quran memorisation, the ministry recently introduced a special certificate awarded to those who complete memorisation as a mark of distinction. Additionally, the ministry currently supports more than 2,200 permanent Quranic centres across the Kingdom. In a historic initiative, the ministry is set to print a version of the Holy Quran using its own printing presses for the first time, reprinting the Al Al Bayt edition, Khalayleh said.

Zakat Fund Approves Ramadan Plan: Vouchers, Food Parcels, Eidiya, and Home Renovations - Jordan News

The Board of Directors of the Zakat Fund has approved a Ramadan plan that includes providing an Eidiya (holiday gift) of 30 Jordanian dinars for each family benefiting from the fund, as well as for orphans during the holy month of Ramadan. اضافة اعلان During its meeting on Monday, chaired by Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohammad Khalayleh, the board also agreed to release a new batch of female debtors (gharmeen) who meet the criteria of the Gharmeen Program, in collaboration with the Public Security Directorate, Judicial Execution Department. The board also approved the Zakat Fund's financial budget and that of Zakat committees for the previous year. Additionally, they agreed to issue 12,000 shopping vouchers worth 30 dinars each in partnership with the Military Consumer Corporation and to allocate 5,000 food parcels, each valued at 25 dinars, in cooperation with the Civilian Consumer Corporation. These will be distributed to needy families and charity gatherings in various governorates. The council also approved organizing an Iftar event for orphans and their families on the occasion of World Orphan Day, alongside central Iftar gatherings in all Awqaf directorates in collaboration with local Zakat committees. Furthermore, they approved the maintenance and renovation of 9 homes for poor families in different areas of the kingdom after conducting necessary social studies. Minister Khalayleh praised the Zakat Fund's role in supporting needy families, commending the donors and contributors for their trust in the fund. He emphasized that these contributions strengthen social solidarity and help support poor and needy families across the kingdom.
