Egypt: President El-Sisi Meets Prime Minister, Heads of Media Authorities
Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, Eng. Khaled Abdel Aziz, Chairman of the National Press Authority, Eng. Abdel Sadek El-Shorbagy, and Chairman of the National Media Authority, Ahmed El-Moslemany. The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi began the meeting by extending his greetings and appreciation to all workers in the media sector. The President highlighted the vital role played by the Egyptian media in building the national character, shaping citizens' awareness, and informing them of the latest developments on the local and international levels, noting the achievements made as well as refining public taste and consolidating societal values and principles. President El-Sisi affirmed the state's unwavering commitment to upholding freedom of expression and embracing all national opinions within the Egyptian media system, therefore enhancing pluralism and intellectual openness. The President gave directives to develop a comprehensive roadmap for the development of Egyptian media, utilizing all specialized expertise and competencies. This shall ensure that the national media keeps pace with the rapid global changes and enable it to fulfill its mission in line with the approaches of the modern Egyptian state and the new republic. The President also stressed the importance of making data and information available to the media, especially during times of crises that attract public attention, in order for topics to be addressed without exaggeration in presentation nor shortage in presentation. The President emphasized the importance of relying on qualified young cadres to work in the media, and holding educational and training programs for those working in this field, while focusing on concepts of national security and openness to diverse opinions, and therefore consolidating diversity in opinions within the Egyptian media system. President El-Sisi listened to a presentation on the efforts being made to develop the Egyptian Radio and Television system (Maspero), including its affiliated channels. This is in addition to a presentation on the modernization of national press institutions. In this context, the President approved the disbursement of the cash allowance proposed by the government to journalists and gave directives to resolve the end-of-service bonus issue for Maspero employees. FM hails national media's role in public awareness
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Sunday underscored the pivotal role of Egyptian media in raising public awareness, objectively presenting key foreign policy issues, and conveying Egypt's vision on international affairs. During a meeting with Supreme Council for Media Regulation Chairman Khaled Abdel Aziz, Abdelatty discussed avenues for future cooperation and exchanged views on pressing local and global issues, highlighting the media's crucial role at this stage. For his part, Abdel Aziz stressed the importance of Egyptian diplomacy in safeguarding national interests amid rising regional and international challenges.

Egypt, CIHEAM Bari partner up to fund green MSMEs by youth, women in Sohag
CAIRO – 10 March 2025: The Ministry of Social Solidarity and the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM Bari) are finalizing a plan to partner up in implementing a project in Upper Egypt's Sohag. The project is funding micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) founded by youth and women in green industries, in addition to supporting informal businesses to join the formal sector and providing capacity-building to governmental bodies concerned with entrepreneurship in Sohag. In a related context, Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsi and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Coalition for Civil Work Khaled Abdel Aziz signed in November a cooperation protocol on funding enterprises of women and youth at villages included in the "Decent Life" initiative across six governorates. Those are Aswan, Asyut, Beni Suef, Giza, Alexandria, and Daqahliyah, and, the age group targeted is 21 to 55. Also, disabled individuals will be entitled to apply on the funding programme. The programme includes training on management, crafts and online marketing, micro financing, veterinary care, insurance on poultry projects and capital, and assistance with sales. The second phase of Decent Life Initiative kicked off in July, and it is being implemented with funds worth LE450 billion and completed in three years. Seventeen percent of the Egyptian population residing a total of 1,500 rural villages – included in the first phase - had benefited from Decent Life initiative over the past three years with a cost of LE350 billion. The Egyptian Center for Strategic Studies (ECSS) issued in July a report titled "The Villages of Egypt in 10 Years: From Marginalization to Decent Life" on "Decent Life," which is the initiative aimed at developing the countryside and improving the lives of 58 million with a budget that surpasses LE1 trillion.

SCMR head affirms importance of utilizing Arab media to support Palestinian cause
Egyptian and Palestinian flags - file CAIRO - 18 February 2025: Egyptian Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) Head Khaled Abdel Aziz on Tuesday emphasized the importance of utilizing Arab media to support the Palestinian cause, highlighting the necessity of Arab cooperation, exchanging know-how and benefiting from joint practices to serve Arab issues. Abdel Aziz made the remarks during a meeting with Saudi Minister of Media Salman al Dosari, on the sidelines of the Saudi Media Forum 2025, to discuss ways of boosting cooperation and strengthening Egypt-Saudi Arabia media relations as well as enhancing media integration between the two countries, a statement issued by the SCMR read. The meeting tackled cooperation programs in the fields of media training, along with crystallizing rapprochement in visions and policies in media programs between the two countries. Abdel Aziz underscored the importance of developing a joint Arab action to confront social media and foreign platforms that broadcast ideas against customs and traditions, alongside increasing reliance on artificial intelligence technologies in Arab media. Meanwhile, Dosari affirmed Saudi Arabia's keenness on strengthening media cooperation with Egypt, noting that Egyptian-Saudi ties are historically unique.

AL, SCMR Head Discuss Strengthening Media Cooperation
Mohamed Mandour Eng. Khaled Abdel Aziz, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation in the Arab Republic of Egypt, received Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Media and Communication Sector at the League of Arab States, at the Council's headquarters on 5 February. As the Arab Republic of Egypt holds the position of Vice-Chairman of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, the meeting provided an opportunity to explore avenues for strengthening cooperation in the media sector. Discussions focused particularly on the follow-up mechanisms for implementing the recently adopted resolutions of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, as well as Egypt's valuable contributions to upcoming meetings, including preparations for the ministerial session scheduled for the second quarter of 2025 in the Republic of Iraq. The head of the Media and Communication Sector expressed his appreciation for the pivotal role played by the Supreme Council for Media Regulation in advancing the directives of the Council of Arab Information Ministers aimed at developing Arab media, enhancing the professional competencies of Arab media professionals, and reinforcing an open, cooperative approach within the sector. This approach fosters collaboration with government media bodies in member states, as well as with organisations and unions operating under the umbrella of the League of Arab States, to establish a media landscape that is more attuned to the pressing concerns of the Arab world. He further emphasised that these efforts align with the objectives of the Arab Media Action Plan, which places the Palestinian cause at its core, alongside key programmes and strategies dedicated to promoting sustainable development across the Arab region.
