Speculoos biscuits are Lidl's alternative to the popular Lotus Biscoff cult treat. While the biscuits are already one of its supermarket staples, the doughnuts mark the latest edition to the Speculoos range. Despite being inspired by Krispy Creme's top seller, Lidl hasn't adopted the same eye-watering price point. Instead of forking out a hefty sum, the baked good retails for over half the price of its competitor's. While customers can expect to pay £2.95 for Krispy Kreme, this new alternative comes in at a far more palatable expense of £1.29 per doughnut. Sweet treat sends shoppers into frenzy In addition to the more palatable price point, they have also been met with rave reviews. After one shopper shared her find on the treat on the Food Finds UK official Facebook page, the post quickly blew up, gaining close to 1000 likes. One customer was quick to write: "I can confirm that they are exceptional." Other social media users shared this customer's excitement. Lidl's $50 Hammock: Summer Comfort That Won't Break the Bank One wrote: "OMG don't walk run to Lidl bakery." Another chimed in: "Oh I got my husband one of these! "They are stunning!! Much nicer than Krispy Kreme." While another comically added: "Lidl bakery will be catering at my wedding." Lidl's latest bakery offerings Lidl launched another new baked good earlier this month, which sent shoppers into a frenzy. The German discounters released a Strawberries and Cream Blondie which retailed for just 89p per slice. Shoppers were stunned to see the item on shelves, with one saying they "need it". Another fan simply commented "oh my days" after spotting the item back again. The Sun also reported this month that shoppers can bag themselves a free pastry across Lidl stores over the next few weeks. Lidl has brought back the popular Spin to Win offer on its loyalty app, which lets you spin a virtual wheel to win a baked treat. All you need to do is make a purchase in store, which could be as little as 1p. Shoppers will need to download the free Lidl Plus app and scan it after making their purchase. Once you've scanned, the Spin to Win offer will appear in the app. Then you are in for the chance of winning a host of prizes, including an apple turnover, chocolate twist, or even a slice of pizza.

Krispy Kreme as a new meme stock Krispy Kreme is currently riding the wave of another trend: the meme stock. In short (pun intended), this is when a group of investors use social media to decide which stocks to buy, often in struggling companies at a low price, forcing that stock price to rise. (The stocks are often heavily shorted, according to Reuters, forcing those investors to sell to stop their losses.) The practice has been popularized in part by the Reddit group WallStreetBets. On Wednesday, shares in Krispy Kreme (Nasdaq: DNUT) jumped 25% in premarket trading before the opening bell, before leveling off as of the time of this writing, up about 4%. This comes one day after the stock rose 26%. Krispy Kreme has a current market capitalization of $750.15 million. In its most recent earnings report for the first quarter of 2025, the company reported adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of -$0.05, which met Wall Street expectations. However, the company missed estimates on revenue, which fell 15.2% year over year, to $375.18 million. Amazon Launch: The Reflection Unwritten Offers a Quiet, Powerful Mirror for Creatives Afraid to Begin
San Francisco, May 02, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- San Francisco, California - Following the resonant debut of The Version Who Stayed, rising speculative fiction author Krispy returns with The Reflection Unwritten, the second novella in The Mirror Archive series. Available now on Amazon, this introspective, emotionally immersive tale invites readers to confront not the past—but the futures they've been too afraid to imagine. Continuing the quiet, lyrical storytelling that marked their first novel, Krispy brings back recurring character Auren Solven in a new metaphysical mystery where the mirror doesn't show who one has been—it shows who one might fear becoming. Set in a shimmering reality where time folds and emotional truth reigns over logic, The Reflection Unwritten is not a conventional sequel. Instead, it's a deeper cut—a meditation on potential, authorship, and the heavy stillness of unrealized dreams. When Auren encounters a mirror that reflects futures never lived, they're forced into a confrontation not with ghosts, but with the weight of their own hesitation. This isn't about fixing the past—it's about claiming the pen before the future writes itself. As Auren is drawn into a psychological maze of cryptic visions, future selves, and fragments of an unspoken love with a mysterious character named Wren, the story unfolds with the intimacy of a letter never sent. The romance is subtle—a soft tether of almosts and maybes—but it's within that quiet pull that Krispy builds something remarkable. Wren is not a dramatic love interest. They are possibility made human. And in their presence, Auren must decide whether authorship of one's life can begin before the story is ready. Structured in three acts—The Glimmer, The Maze, and The Rewrite—the novella resists traditional plot mechanics in favor of emotional architecture. Journals appear that Auren has not written. Time fractures. Memories don't belong. Each chapter reveals a slightly more intimate thread between agency and avoidance, between love and fear, between the self that creates and the self that disappears. And at the center of it all is the question: Can a person unwrite a future they haven't yet lived. What sets The Reflection Unwritten apart, even more than its nonlinear form or soft speculative frame, is its courage to linger in emotional tension without spectacle. There are no climactic battles, no dramatic revelations. Instead, Krispy explores what it means to remain present with ambiguity. The mirror, once again, is not a device—it's a philosophy. And it doesn't offer clarity until Auren begins to act, to choose, to write. Early readers have responded with overwhelming praise, describing the novella as "a quiet masterpiece of becoming" and "speculative fiction at its most human." Literary critic Anaïs R. calls it "quietly devastating in all the best ways," while therapist and poet Priya M. notes, "This is therapy disguised as fiction, in the best possible way." Another reader shared, "It felt like the book saw me—and offered me a hand." Others highlight the novel's emotional architecture and soft romance. "It's not a love story in the traditional sense," wrote Oscar D., a romance reviewer. "But the relationship between Auren and Wren was the heartbeat of the book. Their connection isn't declared—it's discovered." Several reviewers also praised the treatment of creative paralysis, calling the book "a lifeline for anyone who's ever frozen at the start of their own story." Educators and literary theorists have also taken note. Dr. Lena Walsh, a professor of narrative theory, describes The Reflection Unwritten as "a mirror for anyone who's ever been afraid to begin." She adds, "I'll be assigning this in my seminar on memory, identity, and time. The mirror doesn't function as a gimmick—it's a psychological artifact." Though the novella clocks in at just over 33,000 words, its emotional weight belies its brevity. Krispy's ability to fold vast emotional terrain into a small page count is once again on display. Their prose is intimate, their tone hushed yet precise, and their structure cleverly mirrors the themes: looping, branching, pausing, choosing. It's less a story to read than one to inhabit. Auren Solven remains the soul of the series—a character who evolves not through conquest, but through vulnerability. In The Reflection Unwritten, we see Auren at their most paralyzed, yet most human. Their arc is not heroic in the traditional sense, but in the quiet way of someone choosing—however messily—to show up for their own life. In Krispy's words, "Sometimes authorship doesn't look like knowing what to write. It looks like picking up the pen anyway." That sentiment echoes throughout the novel, shaping its form and message alike. As with the first book, The Reflection Unwritten refuses to scream for attention. Instead, it invites the reader to sit with discomfort, to listen to the echoes of unspoken words, and to choose—again and again—what comes next. The Reflection Unwritten is now available in eBook and paperback on Amazon. New Speculative Novel The Version Who Stayed by Krispy Launches on Amazon — A Hauntingly Beautiful Exploration of Identity, Memory, and Emotional Truth
San Francisco, April 28, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- San Francisco, California - Krispy, a rising voice in literary speculative fiction, has released their debut novel The Version Who Stayed on Amazon, marking the first book in an emotionally intelligent and thematically rich series titled The Mirror Archive. The novel introduces readers to Auren Solven, a character who will serve as a narrative anchor across Krispy's works—sometimes a protagonist, sometimes an observer, but always in a state of personal evolution. Through Auren's fractured journey across realities, Krispy delivers a story that refuses to be confined by genre, instead threading introspective realism and speculative possibility into a quiet, potent meditation on identity, regret, emotional truth, and the courage it takes to remain present. Set in a world much like our own but punctuated by shimmering slivers of metaphysical disruption, The Version Who Stayed begins with a cryptic letter delivered on the anniversary of a life-altering decision. The note reads simply, "Some versions of you never left." What follows is not a dramatic unraveling, but a careful, emotionally grounded descent into the spaces between choices. Auren, still haunted by the person they left behind and the life they never pursued, finds themselves drawn to a mysterious bookstore and an unmarked mirror that doesn't just reflect—it remembers. Crossing through the mirror, Auren enters a reality in which they never left. It's a world where they remained in a relationship with Leona, continued their art, and maintained ties with once-distant friends like Micah. At first glance, it is everything they had quietly mourned. But as they try to inhabit this alternate life, Auren begins to see the seams: joy laced with unease, memories that don't quite belong, affection that doesn't fully reach them. Their mirror-self, composed and thriving but also visibly worn, warns them that staying too long has consequences. In this alternate world, choice itself carries a price—and regret becomes an anchor rather than a compass. Krispy's work is deeply personal in tone and purpose, and it shows in every page of the novel. While the story features speculative elements, the emotional core is unshakably real. The novel doesn't rush to explain its metaphysical structure. There are no technical breakdowns of parallel worlds or scientific mechanisms. Instead, the focus is on emotional consequences, personal truth, and the strange courage it takes to accept the lives chosen, especially when it means letting go of the ones that weren't. Krispy has long described their storytelling philosophy as an exploration of the quiet moments that shape who peopleare. They believe that stories don't need to shout to be powerful and that sometimes the most transformative growth happens in the stillness—between versions, between decisions, between the past we long for and the future we fear. In The Version Who Stayed, that belief becomes narrative form. Auren doesn't conquer a world. They don't solve a mystery or defeat an enemy. They feel. They listen. They confront the emotional sediment left behind by their own decisions. In the end, it is this act of sustained presence—of staying with the discomfort—that defines their transformation. The early response to The Version Who Stayed has been emphatic and heartfelt. Readers are calling the book one of the most emotionally intelligent novels of the year. A therapist and reviewer, Amara G., wrote, "Krispy has written a masterpiece of emotional realism. I saw myself in Auren—especially the parts I've tried to avoid." Another reviewer described the book as "a mirror to the soul," explaining that "it's about choice, yes—but also about grace, grief, and becoming." Others have been struck by its understated tone and lyrical prose, with one reader stating that reading the novel felt "like journaling with someone else's heart." Perhaps the most consistent praise has centered on how the novel lingers in the mind long after the final page. "I finished it three days ago, and I'm still thinking about it," said Jacob N., a speculative fiction reader. "The idea of meeting the version of yourself who made a different choice is haunting—and hopeful." Another reader said the book "gutted me in the best way," especially the final chapters, which read like a quiet epiphany rendered in prose. Even readers unfamiliar with literary sci-fi have found the book accessible and resonant. One review described it as "a gentle sci-fi that feels real," praising Krispy's grounded, poetic approach to genre. Another called it "the most human speculative fiction I've read," pointing out that Krispy "doesn't offer easy answers—just honest ones." For many, Auren's journey isn't just fiction; it's a lens through which they've examined their own lives, decisions, and unspoken regrets. What makes The Version Who Stayed stand apart is how it reclaims softness as a form of resistance. In a cultural moment saturated with high-stakes spectacle and dystopian dramatics, Krispy offers a story that is quietly revolutionary in its insistence on stillness. There is no triumph in domination, no reward for conquest. The real victory is presence. The real resolution is self-acceptance. Through Auren's narrative, the book asks: "What does it mean to return to yourself after walking through the shadows of what might have been?" Krispy's authorial presence is as distinctive as their prose. Writing under a single name, Krispy crafts fiction for readers who find meaning in emotional nuance, speculative possibility, and the ache of questions that don't resolve easily. Their recurring character, Auren Solven, is a vehicle for this emotional and philosophical exploration, a throughline connecting works that deal with love, identity, loss, resilience, and the silent choices that define a person. The launch of The Version Who Stayed on Amazon marks not just the beginning of a series but the arrival of a bold new voice in contemporary fiction. Krispy's work invites readers to reflect, to feel, and—most of all—to stay. Not in the past, not in a dream, but in the truth of the present moment. The book is available now on Amazon at and more about the author can be found at The Version Who Stayed is the first chapter in a larger journey—one that readers will carry with them long after the mirror fades and the page is turned. ### For more information about Krispy - Author, contact the company here:Krispy - AuthorKrispy+1 202 902 7060krispy@ CONTACT: KrispySign in to access your portfolio
