OGA SET TO RETURN WITH HIGH-ENERGY 21ST EDITION AND SOLD-OUT BUSINESS EXHIBITION

2,000 Brands, 8 International Pavilions2-4 Sept 2025 KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Aug. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- After a record-breaking edition last year that witnessed a 29% growth in attendees, Oil & Gas Asia (OGA) returns for its 21st show and will power up a sold-out business floor, hosting a large community of global industry professionals converging at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from Sept 2 to 4. As Southeast Asia's premier platform for oil, gas, energy, and petrochemicals, OGA continues to drive business growth, facilitate high-value partnerships, and provide critical market intelligence on the trends and technologies influencing industry demand. This sustained industry demand reinforces OGA's position as the region's definitive meeting point for the ecosystem - where influential leaders and innovators from across the globe converge to exchange fresh perspectives, forge strategic investments, and shape the next chapter of Southeast Asia's energy future. Organised by Informa Markets Malaysia, OGA will welcome 2,000 local and international brands and companies in seven halls, spanning 20,000 sqm under the theme "Powering Progress, Shaping Tomorrow". The show opens amid a surge of commitments to accelerate Southeast Asia's energy ecosystem in an inclusive and sustainable way, as Malaysia assumes the Chair of ASEAN this year. Key initiatives on the agenda include fast-tracking the ASEAN Power Grid, expanding renewable energy adoption, and implementing a new regional energy cooperation action plan for the next five years. ASEAN, a rising global economic powerhouse, is on track to contribute 25% of the world's energy demand growth. The region's offshore gas market alone is forecast to reach US$100 billion, driven by US$30 billion in investments from 2024 to 2025, with Malaysia and Indonesia spearheading this expansion. Against this backdrop, OGA 2025 will present a dynamic trade exhibition featuring eight international pavilions, the SPEAK OGA knowledge exchange platform, the newly launched OGA Event Ambassadors initiative, and a series of high-impact partner programmes - bringing together the region's energy community, from policy-makers and industry leaders to SMEs, innovators, and future talent. Sponsors and exhibitors include EPIC Berhad, Steel Hawk Berhad, Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC), Ingersoll Rand, Deep Manufacturing, Zecchin, Airscope Industries, Honeywell International, Ebara Elliot Energy, Sedia Teguh, Hidrokinetik Group, Tuah Energy, Helms Geomarine, Rembe and SJP Sealing Technology. A cluster of local OGSE companies will come under one umbrella at the MOGSC Pavilion organised by the Malaysian Oil, Gas and Energy Services Council (MOGSC) to showcase local technology and innovation capabilities to the world and to nurture international collaborations. OGA Event Ambassadors will leverage the OGA platform including online presence, to demonstrate industry leadership and brands they represent. Drawn from diverse backgrounds, the ambassadors will engage attendees on a deeper level to share their professional experience and expertise. To date, prominent personalities from digital solutions and services provider, Malaysian Oil, Gas & Energy Engineering Council (MOGEC), Malaysian Oil, Gas and Energy Services Council (MOGSC) and EDMS Consultants Sdn Bhd, have been tapped as event ambassadors. Back to energise minds is SPEAK OGA, one of the show's most engaging knowledge-sharing platforms. Over the past three years, thousands have gathered at these free-to-attend sessions on the exhibition floor to gain candid, practical insights on current industry priorities - from best practices and operational efficiency to transformation drivers, digitalisation, Industry 4.0, and talent development. SPEAK OGA this year also highlights Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) through programmes led by Malaysian Women in Energy (MyWiE), TalentCorp, and Project Girls4Girls (G4G). MyWiE, in collaboration with G4G, will host a panel discussion titled "Beyond the Energy Bubble: Inclusive Leadership Across Industries," aimed at encouraging proactive engagement in D&I initiatives. Additionally, TalentCorp is partnering with G4G to organise a three-day mentorship programme designed to empower young women, helping them build the confidence to pursue careers in a male-dominated sector and cultivate the leaders of tomorrow. To further support the development of young talent, OGA and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) are co-organising a Paper Competition. The final evaluation will provide outstanding students the opportunity to showcase their research projects to industry representatives during OGA. This initiative aims to strengthen relationships between academia and industry while fostering the growth of innovative ideas from educational institutions. OGA is the flagship event under the Informa Markets Energy Series that includes ENERtec Asia in Kuala Lumpur, International Energy Week (IEW) in Sarawak and East Coast Energy (ECE) in Terengganu. Informa Energy Series is designed to shape the ecosystem for a sustainable energy future. "Our fundamental goal is to partner with the entire energy industry to facilitate continued business growth and impact. We are excited to play a role in advancing the industry. OGA can only grow in importance to bring together the solutions and ideas that will help shape tomorrow. The response this year is a clear signal that the industry is eager to participate in transformation and highlights the choice of OGA as an enabler of the change," said Informa Markets Malaysia Chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Mamat. Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre turns 20 amid industry shift

KUALA LUMPUR: The events industry is undergoing a rapid transformation, and client expectations are evolving in tandem, according to John Burke, general manager of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre). Looking ahead, Burke emphasised that the Centre's success over the next two decades will hinge on its ability to remain agile and responsive to change. "Events are changing. Client needs are changing. We have evolved our event support services as event formats change. We have refurbished and redesigned many parts of the event space to enhance and meet new client needs. And there are more developments to come," he said. Since opening its doors in 2005, the Centre, a purpose-built venue for conferences, exhibitions, and events, has hosted over 22,000 events and welcomed 29 million visitors, contributing RM12.6 billion to Malaysia's economy. Sustainability has become a core focus of the Centre's operations. "We have gone into overdrive on our sustainability efforts," Burke said. He noted that the Centre is now powered entirely by green energy, 100 per cent of food waste is composted, and 70 per cent of the food and beverage offerings are sourced locally within Malaysia. The Centre recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with a lively reception attended by industry stakeholders, partners, and clients. Themed "Celebrating the Past 20. Shaping the Next 20", the event highlighted the Centre's evolution as a platform for global dialogue, economic progress, and cultural exchange. Among the guests was Datuk Mohd Salem Kailany, group chief executive officer of the KLCC Group of Companies. "Some of the team members of the Centre have been here from day one. It is their anniversary too," Burke added in tribute to the longstanding staff. The Centre is owned by Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd, which in turn, is part of PETRONAS.

Published on: Friday, June 13, 2025 Published on: Fri, Jun 13, 2025 By: Bernama Text Size: Malaysia moved up two places to 31st in the global country rankings and 9th in the Asia Pacific region, while Kuala Lumpur jumped six spots to 26th in the World City Rankings. Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur continue their upward trajectory in the International Convention & Conference Association (ICCA) 2024 Country & City Rankings report, strengthening their profile as premier business events destinations in the global marketplace. Malaysia moved up two places to 31st in the global country rankings and 9th in the Asia Pacific region, while Kuala Lumpur jumped six spots to 26th in the World City Rankings. Advertisement In a statement, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) said that the rankings were supported by Malaysia hosting 129 international association meetings, with the Centre accommodating some of the city's 78 international association meetings that year. 'To promote the global profile of both Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur, the Centre maintains a strong partnership with the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) —- an agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture —- regularly collaborating at international trade shows to attract business events to the country. 'In the first half of 2025, the Centre was part of MyCEB's delegation at the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) 2025 in Melbourne and IMEX in Frankfurt,' it said. Key international trade shows on MyCEB's calendar that the Centre will also participate in later this year include The Meetings Show in London and the Incentives, Business Travel and Meetings (IBTM) in Barcelona. The Centre also said that as global business environments evolve, so too have delegate needs and expectations. It believes that flexibility is essential to meeting these demands, with personalisation and technology being key enablers in delivering effective solutions. Its general manager, John Burke, said the Centre's newly refurbished meeting spaces feature hybrid technology and upgraded audio-visual infrastructure, while a new shared workspace concept has also been launched to support delegates needing a convenient place to catch up on work and life between sessions. He said that with Kuala Lumpur International Airport, served by 79 airlines and visa-free access for 175 countries, Malaysia provides the great connectivity that global business events demand. 'On top of that, we have a mature supply chain aligned with global standards, wide English proficiency, and a favourable exchange rate. 'Combined with its rich cultural heritage and natural assets, Malaysia is a competitive choice,' said Burke. The Centre is located in the heart of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre precinct, beneath the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. It offers a world-class venue with 34,000 square metres of flexible, purpose-built space with multiple advantages under one roof. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Malaysia Serves Kitchen Diplomacy At ASEAN Leaders' Table

By Lucia Terey John KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 (Bernama) -- Behind the warmth of diplomatic pleasantries at the 46th ASEAN Summit lies another, less visible yet equally critical mission. The real heat, however, isn't at the negotiating table -- it's in the kitchen of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). At the helm of this high-stakes culinary operation is KLCC's executive chef, Chef Hisham Jaafar, 52, who has devoted more than 15 years to mastering high-end cuisine within the prestigious venue's kitchens. This marks the third time Chef Hisham has shouldered the responsibility of preparing meals for a major international event. A decade ago, he catered for a summit graced by dignitaries including former US President Barack Obama and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 'We were honoured to be entrusted with the 26th ASEAN Summit in 2015, along with other global events like the World Islamic Economic Forum. 'Perhaps that's why the Prime Minister's Office has once again placed its confidence in us," he told Bernama. But prior experience, he added, is not a free pass. The pressure is no less intense, especially when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim sets the tone by insisting that each dish embodies the essence of Malaysia. Under the summit's culinary theme, 'Malaysian on Plate', Hisham and his team began planning three months in advance. The aim: to serve not only enticing food, but also a menu that reflects the country's rich and multi-ethnic gastronomic heritage—from Malay, Chinese and Indian cuisine to the distinct flavours of Sabah and Sarawak.
