BTS' J-Hope opens up about feeling ‘pressure' during solo HOPE ON THE STREET tour: ‘Had to handle that immense energy'
For BTS' J-Hope, going solo wasn't just about stepping into the spotlight—it was about stepping into the unknown. Seven months after completing his military service, J-Hope didn't rest. He went straight to what he loves - Performing on stage. His tracks like LV Bag, Sweet Dream, and Mona Lisa are climbing the charts from Billboard to iTunes. But beyond the success, there's a deeper story: one of self-doubt, pressure, and personal growth.. While on his HOPE ON THE STAGE World Tour 2025, J-Hope sat down with Billboard for an interview. During the conversation, he opened up about one of the most intense parts of this new chapter—wondering whether he could carry the energy and pressure of a full solo world tour. 'Having performed at countless stadiums with BTS, I was always part of a seven-member team filling the stage,' J-Hope said. 'This time, I was on my own, and honestly, I wondered if I could handle that immense energy and pressure by myself,' J-Hope added. This wasn't just about nerves, it was about carrying the weight of expectation, fans, production, and performance, all without the familiar support of his group. He admitted that the thought alone was overwhelming. It's hard to describe. But J-Hope didn't let the pressure defeat him. 'But I pulled it off and that means a lot to me — it's a milestone I'll always cherish.' More than just performing, the HOPE ON STAGE tour became a way for him to embrace his identity on a deeper level. Known for his iconic introduction, 'I'm your hope, you're my hope, I'm J-Hope,' he explained that those words now carry more meaning than ever. 'I've come to realize that being 'Hope' isn't just a nickname—it's a message. And I want to express that with sincerity in everything I do.' BTS' J-Hope's HOPE ON THE STAGE solo tour will wrap up with two encore concerts in Goyang Stadium, South Korea, on June 12 and 13, 2025. The tour, which began in February, marks not just a musical achievement, but a personal one—a journey through fear, pressure, and ultimately, belief in himself.

J-Hope Keeps His Winning Streak Going With Another Hot 100 Smash
J-Hope debuts 'Mona Lisa' at No. 65 on the Hot 100, marking his seventh solo entry and third new hit ... More of 2025—his biggest year yet on the U.S. charts. PARIS, FRANCE - JANUARY 20: (EDITORIAL USE ONLY - For Non-Editorial use please seek approval from Fashion House) J-Hope of BTS attends the Dior Homme Menswear Fall-Winter 2023-2024 show as part of Paris Fashion Week on January 20, 2023 in Paris, France. (Photo by Marc Piasecki/WireImage) J-Hope isn't letting 2025 pass without making sure everyone knows it's his year. The BTS superstar has been on a roll lately, and this week, he adds yet another win to his growing list of solo smashes. His brand new single 'Mona Lisa' debuts on the Hot 100, helping him make history yet again. As the track arrives, it adds to a recent hot streak that has seen the singer and rapper land on the chart almost monthly throughout this year. That consistent success is especially notable considering how long it's taken him to rack up even just a few wins on the most competitive songs ranking in the U.S. J-Hope returns to the Hot 100 this week with his latest release, 'Mona Lisa,' which opens at No. 65. This latest song marks his seventh time appearing on the list, which ranks the most-consumed songs in the U.S. across streaming, sales, and radio play. Seven Hot 100 hits is an impressive feat on its own, but what's even more incredible is how many of those smashes have come in just this year. Of J-Hope's total solo charting tracks, three have debuted in 2025 alone, including one in each of the past three months. He kicked things off with 'LV Bag,' a collaboration where he was credited as a featured artist. That tune, fronted by Don Toliver and Speedy, which also features Pharrell Williams, opened at No. 83. Not long after, he rose even higher with 'Sweet Dreams,' a duet with Miguel, which entered the Hot 100 at No. 66 before slipping off. Now 'Mona Lisa' has managed to beat 'Sweet Dreams' by just a single rung, becoming J-Hope's highest-debuting solo cut of the year so far. J-Hope first appeared on the Hot 100 all the way back in October 2019. He was joined by Becky G on 'Chicken Noodle Soup,' which reached No. 81. At the time, it was a groundbreaking moment, as very few K-pop soloists had ever landed on the tally. It wasn't until 2022 that he returned to the list with two tracks from his Jack in the Box album. 'More' and 'Arson' each spent a single week on the Hot 100, arriving at Nos. 82 and 96, respectively. Then, in March 2023, 'On the Street' with J. Cole debuted at No. 60, and that still stands as his highest-charting solo cut to date. J-Hope hasn't yet explained what this steady stream of releases is leading up to, but fans are hoping it's part of a bigger plan. While 'LV Bag' could easily be part of a future Toliver's project, both 'Sweet Dreams' and 'Mona Lisa' are credited to J-Hope as a lead act, and they may very well be part of a forthcoming EP or full-length…but for now, though, the South Korean powerhouse is keeping quiet.

J-Hope Breaks His Tie With Fellow BTS Star Suga
As one of the seven members of BTS, J-Hope has spent the past decade collecting hits and helping the globally-adored band break records on nearly every major chart. In recent years, he's taken time to craft his own solo career —and he's already demonstrated that he can stand tall on his own. Now, with his latest tune, he reaches a new high that even he had yet to experience. J-Hope debuts his new single "Sweet Dreams" at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart. The tune, his latest solo effort, is a collaboration with Grammy winner Miguel. "Sweet Dreams" is J-Hope's first leader on the Digital Song Sales list. Despite earning several top 10s in the past, the BTS singer and rapper had never reached the summit — until now. With the debut of "Sweet Dreams," J-Hope now claims 10 top 10 hits on the Digital Song Sales chart. That's not just a nice, round number, it's a rare feat among K-pop artists. Only two other acts from South Korea have managed at least that many appearances inside the top 10 on the purchase-only ranking. Unsurprisingly, BTS leads the pack with 36 top 10s, while Jung Kook is in second place with 14. That puts J-Hope in third place overall and makes him the second-most successful K-pop soloist in the history of this list. Before "Sweet Dreams" arrived, J-Hope was tied with two of his BTS bandmates for the most top 10s on the Digital Song Sales chart. Both Jimin and Suga — who also goes by Agust D when he shares solo material — have earned nine top 10s on the tally. "Sweet Dreams" is J-Hope's second new top 10 on the Digital Song Sales chart this month alone. Just a few weeks ago, he teamed up with Don Toliver, Pharrell Williams, and Speedy on the collaborative track "LV Bag." That cut opened at No. 8, giving the BTS member his ninth top 10 and allowing him to tie Jimin and Suga at that point. Luminate reports that "Sweet Dreams" sold 14,500 copies in its first tracking period. That makes it the bestselling song in America this week by a large margin. No other title managed to sell at least 10,000 copies during the same span. The runner-up on the Digital Song Sales chart is Chappell Roan's "Pink Pony Club," which sold just 6,000 copies.

J-Hope's New Single Blocked From No. 1 As It Starts Strong
J-Hope's new single 'Mona Lisa' debuts at No. 2 on iTunes, sandwiched between two new Morgan Wallen ... More hits as fans rally to push him to the top. WONJU, SOUTH KOREA - OCTOBER 17: J-Hope of BTS reacts after being discharged from military service at the army's 36th Infantry Division on October 17, 2024 in Wonju, Gangwon-do province, South Korea. J-Hope is the second BTS member to complete the 18-month mandatory military service, which is required for all able-bodied male citizens in South Korea before they turn 28. (Photo by Han Myung-Gu/Getty Images) J-Hope's fans know what to do whenever he drops new music. The BTS member has built a strong solo career by steadily sharing singles that often dominate digital sales rankings, usually going straight to the top. He's continued his selling streak throughout the past few weeks with multiple new drops. His latest release, 'Mona Lisa,' arrived on Friday (March 21), and while it hasn't yet hit No. 1 on iTunes, it's come very, very close – and it's just beginning its journey. 'Mona Lisa' ranks as the second-bestselling track in the U.S. on the iTunes Top Songs chart as of the time of writing. That list, which tracks the most-purchased songs on the country's most prominent digital platform, serves as a reliable barometer of sales popularity. It also forecasts how well a tune may perform on the Billboard charts in a few days, as powerful sales usually equate to a lofty debut. The only title ahead of 'Mona Lisa' comes from another superstar. Morgan Wallen's 'Just in Case,' the latest single from his upcoming album I'm No Problem, currently sits at No. 1. Wallen actually occupies two of the top three slots right now, with another new track, 'I'm a Little Crazy,' debuting at No. 3. That positions J-Hope squarely between the country juggernaut's newest releases, though this ranking could change as more fans of the South Korean powerhouse wake up and begin pressing purchase. 'Mona Lisa' is the third single J-Hope has shared so far in 2025, and it arrives on the heels of a pair of releases that have already earned him some chart victories. He kicked off the year by featuring on 'LV Bag,' a collaborative effort led by Don Toliver and Speedy. That cut, which also includes Pharrell Williams, debuted at No. 83 on the Hot 100. This week, 'Sweet Dreams' opens on the Hot 100 at No. 66, making it J-Hope's highest-debuting solo single of 2025 so far. The Miguel-assisted track is also a true standout on the sales front, launching at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart. J-Hope hasn't formally announced a new album or EP, but the release pattern is certainly suspicious. 'LV Bag' may belong to a future Toliver project, but both 'Sweet Dreams' and 'Mona Lisa' appear to be true solo efforts. If more music is coming soon, it could signal the start of a new full-length era.

BTS' J-Hope joins Jimin on Billboard's Hot 100 as No. 83
J-Hope of BTS landed on Billboard's Hot 100 at No. 83 as a featured artist in Don Toliver's 'LV Bag,' according to the chart published Tuesday in the US. The single was unveiled as a soundtrack for Louis Vuitton's menswear fashion show whipped up by Pharrell Williams, creative director of the French maison and one of the collaborators on the song. It is J-Hope's fifth solo entry on the chart and the third highest rung after 'Chicken Noodle Soul (feat. Becky G.)' and 'More,' which ranked Nos. 81 and 82, respectively. Meanwhile, Jimin extended his stay on the main songs chart to 31 weeks with 'Who,' leaping back up 11 rungs to No. 33. This ties the single with Psy's 'Gangnam Style,' which holds the second-longest streak on the chart, only after BTS.
