J-Hope's New Single Blocked From No. 1 As It Starts Strong

Forbes21-03-2025

J-Hope's new single 'Mona Lisa' debuts at No. 2 on iTunes, sandwiched between two new Morgan Wallen ... More hits as fans rally to push him to the top. J-Hope's fans know what to do whenever he drops new music. The BTS member has built a strong solo career by steadily sharing singles that often dominate digital sales rankings, usually going straight to the top.
He's continued his selling streak throughout the past few weeks with multiple new drops. His latest release, 'Mona Lisa,' arrived on Friday (March 21), and while it hasn't yet hit No. 1 on iTunes, it's come very, very close – and it's just beginning its journey.
'Mona Lisa' ranks as the second-bestselling track in the U.S. on the iTunes Top Songs chart as of the time of writing. That list, which tracks the most-purchased songs on the country's most prominent digital platform, serves as a reliable barometer of sales popularity. It also forecasts how well a tune may perform on the Billboard charts in a few days, as powerful sales usually equate to a lofty debut.
The only title ahead of 'Mona Lisa' comes from another superstar. Morgan Wallen's 'Just in Case,' the latest single from his upcoming album I'm No Problem, currently sits at No. 1.
Wallen actually occupies two of the top three slots right now, with another new track, 'I'm a Little Crazy,' debuting at No. 3. That positions J-Hope squarely between the country juggernaut's newest releases, though this ranking could change as more fans of the South Korean powerhouse wake up and begin pressing purchase.
'Mona Lisa' is the third single J-Hope has shared so far in 2025, and it arrives on the heels of a pair of releases that have already earned him some chart victories. He kicked off the year by featuring on 'LV Bag,' a collaborative effort led by Don Toliver and Speedy. That cut, which also includes Pharrell Williams, debuted at No. 83 on the Hot 100.
This week, 'Sweet Dreams' opens on the Hot 100 at No. 66, making it J-Hope's highest-debuting solo single of 2025 so far. The Miguel-assisted track is also a true standout on the sales front, launching at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart.
J-Hope hasn't formally announced a new album or EP, but the release pattern is certainly suspicious. 'LV Bag' may belong to a future Toliver project, but both 'Sweet Dreams' and 'Mona Lisa' appear to be true solo efforts. If more music is coming soon, it could signal the start of a new full-length era.

Playboi Carti Nearly Hits No. 1 Following 67,000% Sales Surge

Playboi Carti's Music returns to Billboard's Top Album Sales chart at No. 2 following its CD ... More release, marking his highest-ever position on that tally. INGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA - MARCH 16: Rapper Playboi Carti debuts his new album "I Am Music" onstage during the Rolling Loud Festival at Hollywood Park Grounds on March 16, 2025 in Inglewood, California. (Photo by) When Playboi Carti released his new album Music earlier this spring, it was originally only available via streaming platforms and digital download storefronts like iTunes and Amazon. That's not uncommon for projects that shift release dates, as sometimes, even the biggest names in pop and hip-hop can change plans at the last minute and decide to drop a full-length with just a few days' notice. That typically means physical copies will arrive later. Music became available on CD more than two months after it hit streaming sites, and a vinyl edition is slated to arrive later in June. The release of the hugely successful title on CD helps push it back onto a number of rankings, and it nearly earns the rapper his first champion on one Billboard tally. Music reappears on this week's Top Album Sales chart, the ranking of the bestselling EPs and full-lengths in the United States. It breaks back onto the list and settles in the runner-up spot, which marks a new career high point for Carti on this roster. The only project preventing him from securing his first career No. 1 is I'm the Problem by Morgan Wallen. That set easily conquered the tally last time around and refuses to budge. The country project may lead the charge on the Top Album Sales chart for several more frames. While it didn't get to dominate the sales-only roster, Music did bring Carti back to the summit on the Billboard 200. Before its return, Music already stood as Carti's loftiest winner on the Top Album Sales chart. The set opened at No. 3 back in late March, coming in behind Hot by Le Sserafim and Mayhem by Lady Gaga, which dipped to the runner-up space in its second frame on the tally. When Music debuted, it beat the No. 5 high point that Whole Lotta Red reached in June 2021. Music experienced a massive sales spike thanks to its CD release. The week before it became available on a physical format, the title sold just under 100 copies. The following frame, it shipped 17,500 CDs and digital downloads (per Luminate) — a growth of more than 67,000% in just a few days.

Morgan Wallen Ties Taylor Swift's Greatest Hot 100 Feat

Morgan Wallen occupies 32 spots on the Hot 100 this week, matching Taylor Swift's record and ... More becoming the only artist to chart 30-plus hits in three different weeks. KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE - SEPTEMBER 22: Morgan Wallen performs onstage for night two of his One Night At A Time tour at Neyland Stadium on September 22, 2024 in Knoxville, Tennessee. (Photo byfor for Morgan Wallen's One Night At A Time 2024) Last week, Morgan Wallen made history on the Hot 100 when tracks from his album I'm the Problem flooded Billboard's ranking of the most consumed tunes across the United States. Dozens of songs from the full-length appeared on the list, powered by staggering streaming numbers. Just days later, although some tracks have slipped off the tally and most are declining, Wallen still manages to match one of the biggest stars in music history as he dominates the ranking once more. This week, Wallen controls 32 positions on the Hot 100 — just under one-third of all the available spaces. With this incredible feat, he matches Taylor Swift's best showing on the list. Swift once occupied 32 spots on the Hot 100 in May 2024, the week her album The Tortured Poets Department arrived. The following frame, she filled just one fewer space in a stunning example of sustained popularity. When I'm the Problem was brand new, Wallen claimed 37 spots on the Hot 100. 36 of the 37 tracks from his album appeared, alongside 'I Had Some Help,' his 2024 collaboration with Post Malone. That performance broke Wallen's previously-set all-time record of 36 simultaneous placements on the ranking, which he managed in the spring of 2023 with his project One Thing at a Time. Wallen is now the first musician in history to chart 30 or more songs on the Hot 100 in three separate weeks. Swift has managed this feat twice, while rapper Playboi Carti joined the club in March of this year when his album Music debuted. That frame, 31 tracks with his name attached landed on the tally. Among Wallen's 32 wins on the Hot 100 this frame is a trio of top 10s, which sit side-by-side within the uppermost tier. 'What I Want,' his collaboration with Tate McRae, dips from No. 1 to No. 2, making way for 'Ordinary' by Alex Warren to ascend to the summit for the first time. Just behind those smashes 'Just in Case' and the album's title track 'I'm the Problem,' which land at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively.

Is SNL new tonight on June 7, 2025? Here's the answer. It was a great Season 50 of Saturday Night Live so far, with some hilarious cold opens, funny moments on Weekend Update and so many guest stars. There was also the big SNL 50 celebration this year. And if you're here, you might be getting ready to watch SNL on Saturday, June 7, 2025 and wondering: is it all new tonight? If not, is it a rerun? Who's hosting? THE 15 BEST SKETCHES IN SNL HISTORY: Our rankings of the best of Saturday Night Live The answer ... No. It's a rerun after the season finale a few of weeks ago.
