Tom Weller/dpa Germany midfielder Leon Goretzka sees his future at Bayern Munich after battling his way back into the club's plans. His Bayern and Germany career looked over at the start of the season, with Bayern openly saying he was no longer a guaranteed starter and could leave for the right price. Advertisement But he knuckled down and regained his starting spot for both the Bundesliga champions and Germany, although he faces renewed competition in both line-ups from fit-again Aleksandar Pavlović. "I don't plan to change clubs. My plan is clear, to play at Bayern next season," he told die Welt newspaper on Saturday. "I love Bayern, the people here, the team, my team-mates." His Bayern deal runs out on June 30, 2026.

Age Is Nothing But A Number – Ex Arsenal & Man United Veteran Puts In Tireless Display In Inter Milan 2-2 Bayern Munich Champions League Clash
Age Is Nothing But A Number – Ex Arsenal & Man United Veteran Puts In Tireless Display In Inter Milan 2-2 Bayern Munich Champions League Clash Age Is Nothing But A Number – Ex Arsenal & Man United Veteran Puts In Tireless Display In Inter Milan 2-2 Bayern Munich Champions League Clash Henrikh Mkhitaryan has won praise for his absolutely tireless display for Inter Milan in yesterday's 2-2 Champions League draw with Bayern Munich. Today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, hail the 36-year-old. In spite of his age, he showed zero signs of slowing down or running out of energy. Advertisement It was always going to be a tough midfield battle for Inter Milan against Bayern Muinich. The Bavarians started with the very physical duo of Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich in holding midfield. Then, the Bayern fullbacks also looked to push up into midfield, and the attacking players were very aggressive. Inter needed bags of energy and effort from their midfielders to keep their heads above water. And there was one Nerazzurri player in particular who stood out in this regard. Advertisement And perhaps this season the Armenian has finally started to show one or two signs that he can't keep up the level he's been at since he joined Inter forever. But yesterday evening was not one of them. Henrikh Mkhitaryan never stopped running, keeping up with the physical Bayern midfield and gluing together Inter's shape. And on the ball, the 36-year-old offered his usual technical polish. He was a key link in the chain down Inter's left flank when they ventured forward, and kept hold of the ball well.

Possible Penalty In Inter Milan 2-2 Bayern Munich Champions League Clash – No Issue With Harry Kane Goal
Possible Penalty In Inter Milan 2-2 Bayern Munich Champions League Clash – No Issue With Harry Kane Goal Possible Penalty In Inter Milan 2-2 Bayern Munich Champions League Clash – No Issue With Harry Kane Goal Amidst the drama, there was a possible penalty not given in yesterday's Champions League draw between Inter Milan and Bayern Munich. Today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, argue a coming-together between Leon Goretzka and Marcus Thuram could've been a spot kick. Meanwhile, they also argue there were no issues with Harry Kane's goal. Advertisement In the end, Inter Milan went through to the Champions League semifinals against Bayern. A 2-2 draw was enough. All of the goals came in an absolute barn burner of a second half. The first half at the San Siro, by contrast, was sleepier and a lot more cagey. There was, however, one notable incident that could've gone differently had referee Slavko Vincic had a clearer view of it. Possible Penalty In Goretzka-Thuram Incident In Inter Milan 2-2 Bayern Munich Draw LEVERKUSEN, GERMANY – MARCH 11: Leon Goretzka of Bayern Muenchen reacts during the UEFA Champions League 2024/25 UEFA Champions League 2024/25 Round of 16 second leg match between Bayer 04 Leverkusen and FC Bayern München at on March 11, 2025 in Leverkusen, Germany. (Photo by) Inter Milan did not manage to venture forward all that often in the first half yesterday. However, in one of the best moves that the Nerazzurri had all half, captain Lautaro Martinez slithered his way past a couple challenges in midfield to start one of the team's trademark counterattacks. Advertisement Inter got numbers forward into the penalty area. Including Marcus Thuram. Bayern midfielder Leon Goretzka followed Thuram into the penalty area. And there was contact between the two players. So much so that Thuram went down in pain, and could not get back up despite the fact Inter still had possession of the ball in a dangerous area. The Nerazzurri put the ball out of play so he could receive treatment. In the view of the Gazzetta, a closer look at Goretzka's challenge revealed it was very sloppy indeed. On another night, the referee could have seen it as a foul inside the area. But that was not Vincic's view. And the VAR did not challenge him. Advertisement Meanwhile, the Gazzetta note, there were no issues with Harry Kane's opening goal for Bayern. The Inter players had protested for a potential foul on Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the buildup. But there was little in it, in truth.

With Leon Goretzka and Harry Kane set to play vs. Inter Milan tilt in Champions League, Bayern Munich Joshua Kimmich calls for everyone to step up
With Leon Goretzka and Harry Kane set to play vs. Inter Milan tilt in Champions League, Bayern Munich Joshua Kimmich calls for everyone to step up Photo by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images/DeFodi via Getty Images Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich is putting out the call — everyone on the squad is vital to the tasks at hand and all will be needed for the team to achieve its ultimate goals. 'Everyone is important. That's always a cliché you say before the season when everyone is fit. But we've seen that we've got a few injured players, so it's really true that everyone is important. Everyone gets their minutes and everyone has to work hard and be professional so that they're there at the decisive moment,' Kimmich told Martin Volkmar of ranSport (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). 'Just like Stani [Josip Stanišić] did [against Augsburg]. He played in an unfamiliar left-back position, played a very, very good game and that's exactly what we need. We don't just need eleven players who can decide games, we need the whole squad right now. Especially because we have a lot of injuries. And we have to be able to rely on each other.' Advertisement Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) indicated that Kimmich and the rest of the squad should be bolstered with Leon Goretzka and Harry Kane both deemed ready for action. Goretzka tweaked his back vs. St. Pauli, while Kane said that he sprained his ankle vs. FC Augsburg: Harry Kane (ankle knock) and Leon Goretzka (back problems) trained with the team today and should both be ready to start against Inter on Tuesday. Kingsley Coman has yet to resume training and is a doubt for Tuesday. When asked what to expect against Inter Milan, Kimmich said that he was not so sure. 'Difficult to say. I haven't watched Inter that much this season. I think they traditionally defend very well; you can see that in the Champions League, where they've only conceded two goals. It will be tough. Augsburg hadn't conceded many goals in recent games, but we still scored three. St. Pauli also conceded very few goals; we scored three. We know we can score against any defense in the world,' said Kimmich. Looking for more thoughts on Bayern Munich vs. Thomas Müller?
