Jimmy Grant Published: Invalid Date, ROCKSTAR'S highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI is set in the fictional land of Leonida, a sprawling reimagining of the state of Florida — with Vice City standing in for Miami. The game's map is not just a return to the 2002 Vice City featured in the classic PS2 game, but a sprawling interactive world including a variety of locations inspired by the US State it's based on. 14 Gamers were dealt a fresh blow in May 2025, when Grand Theft Auto VI's (GTA 6) creators revealed the game had officially been delayed until 2026. Bosses at Rockstar Games said they were "very sorry" that GTA 6 will be released later than expected — May 26, 2026. The gaming giant had planned to unleash their next title in fall 2025. So while we wait with bated breath for the latest instalment of the fantastic felony-fulled franchise, here's a breakdown of GTA 6's map locations and their real-world counterparts. Downtown Miami (Vice City) 14 Downtown Miami forms the basis of Vice City in GTA 6, with its skyline faithfully recreated. The in-game area features a blend of luxury condos, business districts and cultural landmarks, mirroring the real-life vibrancy of Miami. Vice City is where players will be spending most of their time in GTA 6, completing crime-filled capers and evading the long arm of the law. Miami Beach (Vice City Beach) Miami Beach is reimagined as Vice City Beach in the game. Capturing the beauty of its real-world counterpart, it features art deco hotels, palm-lined avenues and a lively beachfront The sand-filled stretch is central to the Vice City's nightlife and social scene, just as in Miami. Florida Keys (Konica Keys) The Florida Keys, represented as Konica Keys in GTA 6, are a chain of tropical islands with pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters. This area offers a serene contrast to the chaos of Vice City, inviting players to explore its scenic bridges and laid-back atmosphere. The Keys are known for their natural beauty and relaxed lifestyle, which the game captures in detail. Kaseya Center (Sahara Arena) 14 The Kaseya Center, formerly American Airlines Arena, is a major Florida landmark and home to the NBA's Miami Heat. In GTA 6, its counterpart stands as a prominent arena on the waterfront, also hosting sports and entertainment events. The arena's glass facade makes it a recognisable hub in the game, but it's been renamed the Sahara Arena, which houses the fictional Vice City Narcos team. E11EVEN Nightclub (NINE 1 NINE) 14 E11EVEN is Miami's world-famous 24/7 ultra-club, known for its extravagant shows and celebrity guests. The in-game NINE 1 NINE nightclub is a clear homage, even referencing E11EVEN's signature airplane banner ads along the beach. The club's vibrant nightlife and high-energy atmosphere are faithfully translated into the Vice City experience. Tresor Tower 14 Tresor Tower is a real Miami Beach landmark — part of the Fontainebleau complex located at 4401 Collins Avenue. The building's penthouse and rooftop are seemingly featured in the game's trailer. Spotted by Reddit user SynSvn, its inlcusion highlights Rockstar's attention to detail when including authentic Miami architecture in its fictionalized version of the city. Ocean Drive 14 Ocean Drive is one of Miami's most famous streets. It is celebrated for its art deco hotels, neon lights and bustling bars and restaurants. In GTA 6, this iconic avenue is meticulously recreated, serving as a stylish backdrop for car chases and shootouts. Rain Barrel Village 14 Rain Barrel Village is a quirky, artistic stop in the real Florida Keys, known for its giant lobster sculpture and artisan shops. In GTA 6, a similar area featuring the same creative spirit and local flavor can be found in images shared of Leonida. The village's colorful character adds charm to the southern reaches of the map. Venetian Causeway 14 Venetian Causeway connects Miami with Miami Beach, spanning Biscayne Bay with a series of scenic bridges. In the game, this route unsurprisingly links Vice City and Vice City Beach. Mirroring the importance of the real-life causeway for commuters and tourists, it is a fantastic place for a five-star police chase. Florida State Prison (Leonida State Prison) 14 Florida State Prison, reimagined as Leonida State Prison, is a high-security facility set in the rural outskirts of the map. This location plays a role in the game's narrative, providing a backdrop for missions involving escapes or confrontations. Its isolated setting reflects the real prison's remote and imposing presence. Panama City (Port Gellhorn) Port Gellhorn stands in for Forida's Panama City, offering a decaying port town with a rich history. Once a popular vacation spot, its inclusion highlights the changing fortunes of Florida's coastal communities. Featuring abandoned motels and a haunting atmosphere, Port Gellhorn is in stark contrast with the game's more luxurious locations. Everglades (Grassrivers) 14 The Everglades are vast wetlands teeming with wildlife and natural beauty. Players will need to navigate swamps and avoid alligators in this area of the game's map. The region is known as Grassrivers in GTA 6. Clewiston (Ambrosia) Clewiston is an industrial district with a gritty atmosphere and strong biker gang presence. The area features factories, scrap yards, and blue-toned skies, Called Ambrosia in GTA 6, it is the perfect stage for turf wars and high-speed chases. Rockstar Released Way More ‘GTA 6' Story Details Than We Realized
GTA 6 Rockstar All attention was on GTA 6's new trailer this week, the second one that's dropped and perhaps the last we'll see in closer to a year, after the game's delay until May. If you were digging a little deeper, you may have also seen a batch of GTA 6 screenshots that were released, but actual story details seemed scant among all these. Jason's a criminal, Lucia gets out of prison, they're in love. It's pretty basic. But I'm not sure that people realize that Rockstar actually released way more details than you may have thought, and a lot of those are on the official GTA 6 website that I'm pretty sure only 0.001% of trailer-watchers actually have seen. There are a ton of character descriptions, not just of Jason and Lucia (but them too), but a bunch of supporting side characters we glimpse only briefly in the trailer, rounding out a picture of the cast for the game. So, here we are: GTA 6 Story Overview: 'Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida – forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.' GTA 6 Rockstar Jason Duval: 'Jason wants an easy life, but things just keep getting harder. Jason grew up around grifters and crooks. After a stint in the Army trying to shake off his troubled teens, he found himself in the Keys doing what he knows best, working for local drug runners. It might be time to try something new. Meeting Lucia could be the best or worst thing to ever happen to him. Jason knows how he'd like it to turn out but right now, it's hard to tell.' GTA 6 Rockstar Lucia Caminos: 'Lucia's father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk. Life has been coming at her swinging ever since. Fighting for her family landed her in the Leonida Penitentiary. Sheer luck got her out. Lucia's learned her lesson – only smart moves from here. More than anything, Lucia wants the good life her mom has dreamed of since their days in Liberty City – but instead of half-baked fantasies, Lucia is prepared to take matters into her own hands. A life with Jason could be her way out. GTA 6 Rockstar Cal Hampton: 'What if everything on the internet was true? Jason's friend and a fellow associate of Brian's, Cal feels safest hanging at home, snooping on Coast Guard comms with a few beers and some private browser tabs open. The psychopaths are in charge. Get used to it. Cal is the low tide of America and happy there. Casual paranoia loves company, but his friend Jason has bigger plans.' GTA 6 Rockstar Boobie Ike: 'It's all about heart – the Jack of Hearts. Boobie is a local Vice City legend – and acts like it. One of the few to transform his time in the streets into a legitimate empire spanning real estate, a strip club, and a recording studio – Boobie's all smiles until it's time to talk business. Boobie might seem like he's just out for himself, but it's his partnership with the young aspiring music mogul Dre'Quan for Only Raw Records that he's most invested in – now they just need a hit.' GTA6 Rockstar Dre'Quan Priest: 'Dre'Quan was always more of a hustler than a gangster. Even when he was dealing on the streets to make ends meet, breaking into music was the goal. Now that he's signed the Real Dimez, Dre'Quan's days of booking acts into Boobie's strip club might be numbered as he sets his sights on the Vice City scene.' GTA 6 Rockstar Real Dimez: 'Bae-Luxe and Roxy aka Real Dimez have been friends since high school – girls with the savvy to turn their time shaking down local dealers into cold, hard cash via spicy rap tracks and a relentless social media presence. An early hit single with local rapper DWNPLY took Real Dimez to new heights. Now after five years and a whole lot of trouble, they're signed to Only Raw Records, hoping lightning can strike twice.' GTA VI Trailer Just Got Dropped Out of Nowhere
Grand Theft Auto VI was one of the most anticipated games of the year, and a lot of people were disappointed when it was reported that GTA VI would be delayed to 2026. Sure, it's a bummer for fans, but Rockstar has decided to be nice about it by shadow-dropping a new GTA VI trailer. Check this out: Here's the official description for the game: Vice City, USA. Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive. While I'm sure one of the characters is played by character actor Stephen Root, Matty Matheson from The Bear is unmistakable—they even kept a lot of his tattoos. The trailer has everything that fans would be expecting from a massive new GTA game, from weapons and vehicles, to all kinds of crime gigs that glamorize the world of Grand Theft Auto . Since the last game was so massive, some are also expecting all kinds of minigames in this one; besides exercising, I'm sure there's also going to be a picking-up garbage mini-game while you do community service. GTA V came out back in 2013, and a lot of fans have been waiting for more than a decade for the seriel. We don't know exactly what Rockstar has in store, but after all this waiting, fans are expecting this to be worth the $100 price tag it's rumored to have when it launches. Jump into GTA VI next year when the game comes out for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on May 6, 2026.

New GTA VI trailer teases more details following game's delay
Rockstar Games released a new trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), but also confirmed a delay in the release date to May 26, 2026. The trailer showcases protagonists Lucia and Jason in Vice City, a fictionalised Miami. The game's setting expands beyond Vice City to include various locations within the fictional state of Leonida, based on Florida. Character bios for the protagonists and other key figures in the game's narrative have been revealed. GTA 6 will initially launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with a PC version expected later and no confirmation yet for other platforms.
