Man Utd make final Benjamin Sesko and Ollie Watkins decision as transfer 'accelerates'
Benjamin Sesko has moved above Ollie Watkins in Manchester United's pecking order as they look to add the RB Leipzig striker to their squad ahead of the new season Benjamin Sesko has moved to the top of Manchester United's wish-list as they look to add the striker to their ranks. The Red Devils have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves and Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, but Ruben Amorim is open to adding more firepower to his side following the club's dire 2024/25 campaign. The highly rated Sesko looks set to move on after Leipzig missed out on Champions League football. United will be absent from European football completely this season, but that is not thought to have put the Slovenian off. Sesko is reportedly favouring a move to Old Trafford over Newcastle, who are also in the market for a top forward, with Liverpool-linked Alexander Isak angling for a move away from Tyneside. According to The Athletic, Sesko is Man United's priority if they go for another striker this summer and they are said to have made 'informal' contact with Leipzig. The Red Devils are also admirers of Ollie Watkins, although Aston Villa have insisted the 29-year-old is not for sale. A move for Sesko looks more realistic, with United also favouring a player of potential over a proven quality like Watkins. United have been linked with Sesko in the past, but they balked at paying his previous club, RB Salzburg, around £2m in 2019. He will now cost many times more after emerging as one of the most promising strikers in Europe, scoring 39 goals in 87 appearances for Leipzig since his arrival in 2023. His current contract runs until 2029, having only signed a new deal last year. It reportedly came with an understanding that he would be allowed to depart if another club offered in the region of £69m to £78m. Untied's signings will need to be offset by some outgoings, with a number of players declaring their desire to leave the club. Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia were left out of the tour of the United States, with the so-called 'bomb squad' training at the club's Carrington complex. Marcus Rashford has joined Barcelona on loan. United's transfer dealings have been widely criticised in recent seasons but Amorim has said chief executive Omar Berrada and sporting director Jason Wilcox would not be taken advantage of just to get rid of those surplus to requirements.

Liverpool transfer news: Reds get Alexander Isak boost as key star moves closer to exit
Liverpool may have signed Hugo Ekitike last week but the Premier League champions are still in the running to sign Alexander Isak amid talk the Newcastle star could move this summer Liverpool have already made some big moves in the transfer market this summer, but Arne Slot and Co are not done yet if recent noises anything to go by. Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike have all been signed up to bolster a squad which won the Premier League title last term. And more incomings are expected between now and the transfer deadline. The Reds are understood to be keen on signing a centre back after selling Jarrel Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer. And speculation linking Liverpool with a British record £150million transfer for Alexander Isak simply refuses to go away. Isak boost Eddie Howe has confirmed that there is "no chance" that Arsenal target Alexander Isak will join Newcastle on their pre-season tour of the Far East amid the current speculation over the striker's future. The Swede, 25, has been heavily linked with Liverpool this summer and it emerged last week that he would not be joining Newcastle overseas, with the player keen to explore his options. Speaking after Sunday's 3-2 loss to Newcastle in Singapore, Howe was asked whether the club's star striker would be heading out to join them and replied: 'No, no chance,' indicating that a parting of the ways could indeed be on the cards. Mega deal agreed Liverpool have agreed a deal in principle with Bayern Munich for the transfer of Luis Diaz. The Colombia winger, 28, has been linked with a move overseas in recent weeks and also had interest from Barcelona. It has also been noted that Diaz is keen on the idea of moving clubs this summer, though Liverpool were reluctant to sell. But The Guardian say Diaz is now close to leaving Liverpool after Bayern lodged a £70m bid for the attacker, who was left out of the team that lost 4-2 to AC Milan on Saturday. Fofana in Everton talks Liverpool-linked Malick Fofana is now in talks to join Everton from Lyon this summer. The Reds and other of the Premier League's top clubs have been credited with an interest the uber talented winger, who has scored 15 goals in 62 games for Lyon. The Athletic have confirmed that Everton and Lyon are in talks over a package for the 20-year-old with the Toffees also in contact with the player's camp to try and reach an agreement for a transfer. Alexander Isak sent home from Celtic game as Eddie Howe swoons over the brilliance of Brendan
League Cup champions Newcastle are preparing for a return to the top tier of European football Eddie Howe lavished praise on Celtic and insisted Brendan Rodgers side look Champions League ready. League Cup champions Newcastle are preparing for a return to the top tier of European football but the Hoops face a play-off next month to secure their spot back at the top table. However, after watching his side concede four without reply at Parkhead, Howe admitted his side were second best. The Magpies boss, who looked set to replace Neil Lennon as Celtic boss four years ago only to pul out when he couldn't get his backroom team in place, said: 'We've had an intense week and we looked a little bit jaded. But it was great for our preparation. Celtic were way ahead of us fitness-wise and sharpness-wise. 'It was a great atmosphere and stadium to play in. It was a good standard of football for so early in pre-season. Whoever Celtic draw in the Champions League will be in for some tough games.' Liverpool-linked Alexander Isak travelled then was sent home. But Howe insists there's been no approach for the £150m-rated Sweden striker. He said: "He travelled to Glasgow with us but I decided to send him home due to the speculation around him. The last thing he wanted was to be sat in the stand watching - that wasn't fair to him. But I'm confident he will be a Newcastle player come the end of the window." Liverpool could complete SENSATIONAL swap deal for Julian Alvarez
Liverpool are planning to upgrade their attacking options in the summer transfer window. We have already seen the club make a bid for Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz - with a resolution hopefully expected before long. But Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes won't stop there. There are plans to bring other attackers on board - including a new face at No9. Advertisement Departures are inevitable with centre-forward options Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez available for the right price. But players on the wing could leave too as Hughes and Slot set about assembling a summer transfer war-chest. Luis Diaz has been linked with Barcelona although Al-Nassr now appear ready to test Liverpool's resolve for the Colombian. Ben Doak is attracting attention from within the Premier League and could be on the move to Everton in their new stadium. Chiesa linked with Anfield exit And Federico Chiesa could also be on the move after a single season on Merseyside. The Italian winger, 27, hasn't enjoyed a successful season on a personal level. Advertisement He played just over 100 minutes in the Premier League, appearing in 14 matches for Arne Slot overall. With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, Chiesa is said to be desperate to win his place back in the Italy squad. It's going to be difficult if he remains on the fringes at Liverpool - and so Chiesa could be moving on this summer. Napoli are thought to be keen in Serie A but a new report in Spain describes Chiesa as a 'golden opportunity' for Atletico Madrid. © IMAGO - Arne Slot Federico Chiesa Liverpool 2024-25 Atletico want Chiesa Despite signing Antoine Griezmann to a new contract, it seems as though Diego Simeone is keen to bolster his attacking options. Advertisement And the name of Chiesa has been presented to club bosses by sporting director Carlos Bucero according to AS. Maybe Atletico are making plans to offload an attacker - perhaps Liverpool-linked Julian Alvarez - although it must be added that the Argentine and Chiesa are very different players. But maybe a cash-plus-player deal might suit both parties? It's hard to see Chiesa making the breakthrough at Anfield - particularly with Mohamed Salah ahead of him in the queue - and a move to pastures new could be just what he needs to kick-start his career.

The Gunners are desperate to boost their firepower and Mikel Arteta sees the 27-year-old as a good option to add to his squad. But five other clubs are heavily in the race to secure Nkunku's services. Manchester United, who made a move for the player during the January transfer window, are planning to go back this summer. READ MORE IN FOOTBALL CLIFFE EDGE Man Utd owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe's fortune plummets by more than £6billion Ruben Amorim is a huge admirer of the player, and believes his Premier League experience makes him a superb option for his Old Trafford rebuild. Liverpool also like Nkunku due to his versatility and previous goal record at Leipzig, where he netted 58 goals in his final two seasons. And West Ham, who will undergo a major rebuild, are plotting an ambitious raid of their own after ex-Chelsea boss Graham Potter identified Nkunku as a star target. Atletico Madrid are also interested in the player, with uncertainty over the future of Liverpool-linked ex-Man City forward Julian Alvarez. Cole Palmer eats sandwich and ketchup as Brit music legend makes cameo in brilliant Chelsea kit release video 2 If Alvarez does go, then Nkunku is seen as the first option for a replacement. The Frenchman has endured a frustrating season for Chelsea and is fully expected to push for a move away. Just seven of his 22 starts this term have come in the league, with Nkunku instead a regular in the Conference League and domestic cups. He's thought to prefer the idea of a move to a club in the Champions League, which would make Arsenal, Liverpool, Paris St Germain and Atletico Madrid the leading contenders. Chelsea would prefer to see the player move abroad as, despite his limited playing time, boss Enzo Maresca knows Nkunku has a lot of ability and knows selling him to a rival club could be risky.
