Lynchburg City Council proposes increasing ambulance service rates
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – A new proposal by the Lynchburg City Council that, if adopted, will increase rates for ambulance and other related services starting in July of 2025. A public hearing is scheduled for June 10 during a regular City Council meeting to discuss new ambulance service rates as proposed by a third-party billing vendor for the Lynchburg Fire Department, at the request of the council. City County officials said there have been no rate changes of this kind since 2018 and would align charges with the 150% Medicare rate method, which is currently the standard industry practice for the region. Lynchburg Fire Department anointed new engine with traditional ceremony This would mean a projected revenue increase of around $200,000 annually. Non-Emergency Basic Life Support services would increase from $350.00 to $422.07, and Emergency Basic Life Support services would increase from $500.00 to $675.30. Additionally, there would be a per-mile charge increase of $1.73, from $12.00 to $13.73. There would be no changes to oxygen supply and non-transport fee charges. Lynchburg Fire Department anointing new engine with traditional ceremony
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – The Lynchburg Fire Department is dedicating its newest fire engine, Engine 2, to its new home at Station 2 on Grace Street with a ceremony. The ceremony will take place on Monday, May 12 at 11 a.m. and will include a push-in and wet down of the new apparatus. Caesars Virginia gifts Danville Fire Department new truck The ceremony is a tradition as before when hand and horse-drawn engines and wagons could not be backed into a station once a call was finished. Fire departments had to routinely unhitches the horses and push the engine back into the bay. During the event, firefighters will anoint the new engine by wetting it down before its first usage in the community. The current engine will then be placed into reserve as a part of the LFD fleet. Lynchburg FD asking for public feedback during online ‘Strategic Planning Survey'
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – The Lynchburg Fire Department is asking for the community to participate and give feedback during its Strategic Planning survey. The online survey starts this week and is a part of the department's process for updating its decision-making and funding planning. Officials with LFD said the plan was last updated in 2018 and helps guide the department when establishing priorities for equipment needs, staffing, and delivery of services to the community. The feedback will give insight into the needs of the community. It was last revised in 2018. 'The survey will help inform us of what the public feels we are doing well, where we can improve, and what other services, they might like to see us undertake. It's completely anonymous and will take about 10 minutes to complete.
