MBI Selangor refutes any connection to MBI International Group

PETALING JAYA: Selangor Mentri Besar (Incorporated) or MBI Selangor stresses that it has no connection, relationship or interest with MBI International Group (MBI) and individuals involved in the investigation into an investment fraud case. Sinar Harian reported that MBI Selangor said there was a possibility of public confusion arising from the similarity of names between the two entities and it is taking this seriously. 'MBI Selangor is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Selangor government established to drive strategic development, investment and management of state assets in line with the aspirations of sustainable development and prosperity of the people of Selangor. 'Therefore, we urge the public to be careful and not to be confused with entities that are not related to the official operations of the Selangor government. 'Any further information about MBI Selangor can be obtained through our official website at or other official communication channels,' it said in a statement on Saturday (May 31). Previously, it was reported that a businessman with the title of Tan Sri was among three individuals who were arrested after being believed to be involved in an investment fraud scheme involving MBI. Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department acting director Datuk Seri Muhammed Hasbullah Ali said the three suspects, who are local men aged between 46 and 58 years old, were arrested in raids carried out through Ops Northern Star around Kuala Lumpur and Penang between May 1 and 17. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain had also announced that his department arrested eight individuals and seized assets worth RM3.17bil on April 11, based on information from an Interpol Red Notice.

Selangor's Raja Muda unveils vision for Shah Alam Sports Complex as a global sports and cultural icon

SHAH ALAM, May 16 — The Shah Alam Sports Complex (KSSA) is set to be more than just a sports facility as it's envisioned as a vibrant, inclusive space for sports, culture, arts and lifelong learning, reflecting Selangor's spirit and values. Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, said KSSA is a people-centric, future-ready development that preserves Selangor's heritage while connecting communities locally and globally. 'The true strength of Selangor lies in the well-being of our people. And in that sense, Shah Alam represents something special. I envision a Selangor that is more inclusive, forward-thinking, and focused on long-term sustainability. Where everyone has the opportunity to grow, thrive, and prosper. 'The new KSSA is an integral part of that vision, a journey that has taken me seven years to bring to life. It's more than a stadium. It's a space for everyone-a place where people can come together to be involved in sports, culture, arts and learning.' Tengku Amir said this at the handover ceremony of the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) between Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) and Lembaran Projek Sdn Bhd (LPSB), a subsidiary of MRCB Land, for the KSSA development, here today. Tengku Amir said the project marks a major step in urban renewal, setting a new benchmark in design, construction and stewardship of public spaces. The development integrates sustainable features such as ecological restoration and a state-of-the-art underground flood mitigation system, including a four-hectare retention pond to ease flooding in Section 13. 'KSSA Park will highlight Selangor's rich natural heritage while serving as a dynamic gathering space. Its landscape will honour native ecologies, including swamp habitats and the Royal Selangor Heritage Forest, creating an immersive environment where biodiversity and human activity coexist in harmony,' he said. It will also support multi-generational programmes that connect people with nature, while promoting recreation, learning and community engagement. Tengku Amir also expressed hope for KSSA to become a global icon, on par with London's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the Melbourne Sports Precinct, or Marina Bay in Singapore. 'KSSA is but one chapter in our larger journey — a journey to shape a Selangor that is vibrant, compassionate, and resilient, ready to embrace the future with confidence and grace,' he said. KSSA to boost entrepreneurial growth, promote Shah Alam's local identity

SHAH ALAM: The Kompleks Sukan Shah Alam (KSSA) will further boost entrepreneurial activity by developing a more robust ecosystem for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across the commercial areas of Shah Alam City Centre. Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the initiative would also help showcase local talent and highlight Shah Alam's unique character in terms of food and beverages, as well as its culture and traditions. "One of the unique traits among the people of Selangor, particularly the youth, is their spirit, capability and eagerness to venture into entrepreneurship. "However, at times, those who are interested may feel that opportunities to become entrepreneurs are limited by factors such as location, information or knowledge. "As such, this initiative will further highlight local talent and celebrate Shah Alam's unique identity through its food and beverages, culture and traditions," he said. He said this in his keynote address at the handover ceremony of the Letter of Acceptance for the KSSA development between Menteri Besar Selangor Inc (MBI Selangor) and Lembaran Prospek Sdn Bhd (LPSB), a subsidiary of MRCB Land Sdn Bhd and Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB). The handover was witnessed by Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah. Also present were Selangor State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, MBI Selangor group chief executive officer Datuk Saipolyazan M. Yusop and MRCB chairman Datuk Mohamad Nasir Ab Latif. Amirudin said KSSA, built as a sustainable and multi-purpose hub, will also feature a shopping mall, a multi-purpose indoor hall and a football training field. He said the shopping mall would be directly connected to the indoor arena and main stadium, allowing smooth visitor flow and supporting attractions such as street eats, pop-up bazaars and open-air dining areas. "More broadly, the inclusion of hotels, restaurants and an integrated transport terminal is expected to generate job opportunities and stimulate local economic growth," he said. At the same time, Amirudin said, in line with the sustainability theme of the Selangor Plan 1 (RS1), a 310,000m² area would be allocated as green landscaped space, featuring a botanical garden, jogging and cycling tracks and pedestrian-friendly walkways. "Recently, when I led the Selangor delegation to Osaka for the launch of Selangor Week at the Malaysia Pavilion during the 2025 World Expo, I observed and appreciated the beauty of Osaka's parks and cityscape. "While seemingly simple in design, every element and component of the city and gardens served a clear function and was both user and pedestrian friendly. "Hence, I believe the KSSA area can serve as a new model in realising the Shah Alam City Council's goal of becoming a low-carbon city within five years, by 2030," he said, adding that the space is intended to provide a positive environment for youth to explore their interests, connect with peers, and engage in healthy activities. He also said the KSSA master plan would prioritise access to, and connectivity with, the LRT3 public transport system, complementing existing efforts by the Selangor government through Selangor Mobility, including the use of Smart Selangor Buses and demand-responsive transit (DRT) vans. He added that this would allow Selangor residents living in commercial hubs such as Kuala Lumpur, or even as far as Putrajaya, to reach the Shah Alam Sports Complex without needing to use private vehicles.

KSSA marks 'seismic shift' in Selangor's urban transformation

SHAH ALAM: The development of the Shah Alam Sports Complex (KSSA) marks a seismic shift in Selangor's urban transformation, setting new gold standards in design, construction, and the management of public spaces. Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, said that as part of the state's future agenda, Selangor's development blueprint would adopt sustainable solutions that integrate biodiversity with infrastructure, creating a model for future initiatives. "KSSA sets the stage for a new era of sustainable urban development," he said. Tengku Amir Shah was speaking at the handover ceremony of the Letter of Acceptance for the Kompleks Sukan Shah Alam (KSSA) development between Menteri Besar Selangor Inc (MBI Selangor) and Lembaran Prospek Sdn Bhd (LPSB), a subsidiary of MRCB Land Sdn Bhd and Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB). Also present were Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Selangor State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, MBI Selangor group chief executive officer Datuk Saipolyazan M. Yusop, and MRCB group managing director Datuk Imran Salim. Tengku Amir Shah said the development includes KSSA Park, a sustainable community hub integrated into Shah Alam's flood mitigation plan. The park features ecological restoration, nature-based solutions, and innovative flood management, blending biodiversity with urban development. It offers recreational, educational, and cultural spaces, promoting inclusivity, environmental stewardship, and community engagement for all generations. "It will have a state-of-the-art, fully automated underground flood mitigation system beneath the complex, including a four-hectare retention pond to manage stormwater and alleviate flooding in Shah Alam's most vulnerable zones." He said the integration of KSSA Park into the Section 13 Shah Alam flood mitigation plan, led by the Selangor Irrigation and Drainage Department, is a key strategic element in stormwater management, ecological restoration, urban regeneration, and sustainable water practices. "The use of nature-based solutions as a strategic approach to managing flood risks also offers lasting environmental and economic benefits." He added that these proven, cost-effective methods support current Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives and promote responsible land use. "Going beyond conventional infrastructure upgrades, this initiative reflects a forward-looking commitment to improving Selangor's long-term liveability and quality of life," he said. Tengku Amir Shah said KSSA Park would feature universal access and sensory-friendly areas, including playgrounds thoughtfully designed to welcome children with autism. By integrating sports with ecological learning, the park will host multi-generational programmes that encourage deeper connections between communities and their natural surroundings, making it a place of learning, recreation, and togetherness, he said. "As part of a wider urban renewal effort, KSSA Park will breathe new life into the city's public spaces by revitalising its iconic skate park and introducing vibrant platforms for art, music, and performance." These features are designed to capture the dynamism of the city while facilitating creative expression and social engagement within a natural and welcoming environment. Sustainability is woven throughout the park's design. Constructed wetlands – engineered to mirror natural systems – will support biodiversity and water management while offering scenic, functional green spaces. Using biocentric design principles, the park will employ renewable materials, closed-loop systems, and native plantings to minimise its environmental footprint and create biodiverse urban habitats. KSSA Park will stand as a model for sustainable city living, blending innovation, ecology, and community spirit in one living, breathing space. "I envision KSSA standing proudly among the world's most iconic destinations – alongside places like Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, the Melbourne Sports Precinct, or Marina Bay in Singapore. Not just as a stadium, but a living, breathing tapestry of voices, colours, and dreams." "KSSA Park will be a vibrant community hub that blends cultural celebration with ecological restoration. Rooted in nature-based design, the park will highlight Selangor's rich natural heritage while serving as a dynamic gathering space for people of all ages.

Tengku Amir Shah envisions more inclusive, forward-thinking Selangor focused on long-term sustainability

SHAH ALAM: Selangor is poised to become a dynamic and modern metropolis, defined not just by world-class amenities and cutting-edge infrastructure but also by a firm commitment to sustainable development. Sharing his vision for the state, Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah said Selangor's true strength lies not in its economic figures or rankings, but in the well-being of its people. While Selangor has achieved significant economic success, including being the largest contributor to Malaysia's gross domestic product (GDP), Tengku Amir Shah said real progress is only meaningful if it directly benefits the people in the state. "Progress means little if it leaves our people behind – and in Selangor Darul Ehsan, this Land of Benevolence – it is our responsibility to ensure that growth uplifts all, both within our borders, and beyond. "The true strength of Selangor isn't just in figures or rankings – it's in the well-being of our people. That's what really matters. And in that sense, Shah Alam represents something special. "I envision a Selangor that is more inclusive, forward-thinking, and focused on long-term sustainability. Where everyone has the opportunity to grow, thrive, and prosper." Tengku Amir Shah said the new KSSA is an integral part of that vision, which has taken him seven years to bring to life. "It is more than a stadium. It is a space for everyone – a place where people can come together to be involved in sports, in culture, in the arts, in learning. "It is designed with the people in mind, built for the future, but steeped in the values and traditions we Selangorians hold dear. "This is the ethos of Shah Alam. This is what we are bringing to the future – and to the world," he said. Tengku Amir Shah said this in his speech at the handover ceremony of the Letter of Acceptance for the Kompleks Sukan Shah Alam (KSSA) development between Menteri Besar Selangor Inc (MBI Selangor) and Lembaran Prospek Sdn Bhd (LPSB), a subsidiary of MRCB Land Sdn Bhd and Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB). Also present were Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Selangor State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, MBI Selangor group chief executive officer Datuk Saipolyazan M. Yusop, and MRCB group managing director Datuk Imran Salim. Tengku Amir Shah also attributed Selangor's progress to the sound policies and plans rolled out by the state government under Amirudin's leadership. He said Selangor in 2023 emerged as Malaysia's top economic contributor, accounting for 25.9 per cent or RM406.1 billion of the national GDP, which represented a 5.4 per cent increase from the previous year, underscoring Selangor's pivotal role in the nation's economy. "As we look to the future, Selangor is setting its sights even higher. With a target of RM50 billion in investments for 2024, and a longer-term goal of contributing RM500 billion to the national economy within the next three years, we are determined to build not just a stronger Selangor, but a more inclusive and dynamic Malaysia," he said. Tengku Amir Shah said he is committed to working closely with Amirudin to transform Selangor into a state that not only thrives economically, but also leads with purpose, balancing innovation with inclusivity. "We are united by the conviction that true development must improve lives. I am encouraged by the state government's continued efforts to raise the standard of living through accessible healthcare, quality education, affordable housing, and initiatives that empower youth and uplift marginalised communities. "These are values I deeply cherish, and I will continue to give my full support to policies that place the people of Selangor at the heart of progress. "As we move forward, I remain committed to working closely with the Menteri Besar, government agencies, the private sector, and civil society to ensure that our vision is not only realised but sustained, for generations to come."
