Photo courtesy of AMC Networks May 30 (UPI) -- AMC Networks shared first-look photos and a release window for Talamasca, a new series in its Anne Rice Immortal Universe, during the ATX TV Festival Friday. Talamasca, which premieres in October, is about "a secretive society called the Talamasca, comprised of the men and women responsible for tracking and containing the witches, vampires and other creatures scattered around the globe," according to a press release. Celine Buckens and Jason Schwartzman join the cast as Doris and Burton, respectively. Doris lives on a houseboat among witches, while Burton is a vampire residing in a penthouse in New York. Buckens will appear as a series regular, while Schwartzman will guest star. Nicholas Denton, Elizabeth McGovern, William Fichtner and Maisie Richardson-Sellers were previously announced to star. Executive producer Mark John told UPI in January that the show is "almost a spy story, with a hint of the vampires and witches and other things we associate with Anne Rice." Like Mayfair Witches and Interview with the Vampire, Talamasca is inspired by the late author's books. The network also announced the Mayfair Witches writers are now discussing the show's third season, while Interview with the Vampire is about to begin filming Season 3.

U.K. version of ‘SNL' set, Netflix's ‘Pride and Prejudice' casts Corrin and Colman, Mike Flanagan scares up ‘Carrie' series, and more of today's top news stories

Gold Derby's for April 10, 2025. A U.K. version of Saturday Night Live will premiere on British TV network Sky Max next year, NBC and Sky announced. It will film in London and will feature the same format as the American version, with a celebrity guest host, a musical guest, and sketches featuring the ensemble cast. The cast has not been set yet. Lorne Michaels will executive-produce. It follows several other international SNL editions, including Germany, Spain, Italy, China, Japan, South Korea, and Egypt. Emmy nominee Emma Corrin (The Crown) will play Elizabeth Bennet, Emmy nominee Jack Lowden (Slow Horses) will play Mr. Darcy, and Academy Award winner Olivia Colman (The Favourite) will play Mrs. Bennet. Lowden's casting was reported earlier this week. The series is being adapted by Dolly Alderton and is scheduled to shoot later this year. Amazon is placing an order for pig's blood. Prime Video has greenlit a series adaptation of Stephen King's classic horror novel Carrie from creator Mike Flanagan. It will be horror maestro Flanagan's fourth King adaptation and first series for Prime Video. He will executive produce, write, and direct multiple episodes. Jason Ning (Lucifer) and Ronald D. Moore (Outlander, Battlestar Galactica) are developing a series adaptation of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon for Sony Television and Prime Video. The historical martial arts drama is based on a 20th century novel series by Wang Dulu. It will follow "Shu Lien and Mu Bai, two star-crossed warriors, as they struggle between forbidden love and the pull of modernity — caught between preserving their way of life or embracing a future together." Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was previously adapted by director Ang Lee in 2000; that film was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, the most ever by a film not in English at that time. AMC ordered a third season of Mayfair Witches, the horror drama based on the novel series by Anne Rice. Better Call Saul executive producer Thomas Schnauz is joining as co-showrunner alongside co-creator Esta Spalding. The new season will move the action to the classically witchy town of Salem, Mass. Mayfair Witches stars White Lotus Emmy nominee Alexandra Daddario, Harry Hamlin, Tongayi Chirisa, and Alyssa Jirrels. Elizabeth Chambers, television personality and ex-wife of disgraced actor Armie Hammer, will host Toxic, an Investigation Discovery docuseries exploring tales of traumatic relationships — including her own. Hammer was accused of sexual and emotional abuse by multiple women in 2021; he denies the claims. Chambers and Hammer separated in 2020 and divorced in 2023. 'When it comes to toxic relationships, no one is immune,' Chambers says in the teaser. The series streams on Max on May 5. "Mayfair Witches" Renewed for Season 3

Yara Sameh AMC and its sibling streamer AMC+, have picked up a third season of "Mayfair Witches", which is part of its Anne Rice universe. Along with the renewal, the cable network announced that "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" alum Thomas Schnauz is joining the series as co-showrunner alongside Esta Spalding. Season three will be set in Salem, Massachusetts — where the infamous witch trials of the late 17th century took place — and will delve deeper into the mythology of witchcraft and introduce new characters, AMC 'The drama and complexities of the Mayfair family continue to be an intriguing and enchanting source of story, and expanding that story against the backdrop of Salem, a historical haven of witchcraft, is an exciting next chapter for this series and our larger Anne Rice Immortal Universe,' said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks. 'Tom Schnauz has a storied history with AMC, and we're elated to have him join the talented Esta Spalding and our Mayfair cast for a season that will explore a larger world of witchery and Mayfair family secrets as we continue to build out this dynamic franchise.' Season two ended with Rowan (Alexandra Daddario) attaining a new level of power, albeit at a sizable cost. Spalding told The Hollywood Reporter after the finale that she hoped to explore that more in a third season. 'When you have the power she has you can't just, as she says, sit on your hands and act like a good girl,' Spalding said. 'So I think there's something in a season three where we would be exploring Rowan's quest for that feeling again.' Spalding said in a statement about the renewal, 'I am thrilled to welcome Tom Schnauz to our team for the third season of Mayfair Witches. A contemporary twist on the Salem story, it promises to be our most delicious yet.' Added Schnauz, 'I'm incredibly excited to reunite with both AMC and [executive producer] Mark Johnson on Mayfair Witches. The work I've done so far with Esta Spalding on season three has been fantastic and fun, and we're hoping that translates to the screen for fans and new viewers of the show.' "Mayfair Witches" also stars Hamlin, Tongayi Chirisa and Alyssa Jirrels. Spalding and Schnauz will executive produce season three with Johnson — who oversees all three shows in the Rice-verse for AMC — Michelle Ashford and Tom Williams. As for AMC's other Anne Rice series, "Interview With the Vampire" is slated to debut its third season in 2026. AMC to adapt ‘The Grapes of Wrath' as a TV show

Advertisement So there's certainly ample precedent for remixing the classic novel. AMC has brought in Rolin Jones to launch the series, and he'll work on 'Grapes of Wrath' and then shepherd subsequent editions of the anthology in years to come. He's got some solid experience bringing books to the screen — he's also the showrunner on 'Interview with the Vampire' and previously worked on 'Friday Night Lights.' He'll be aided by Mark Johnson, who oversees AMC's various Anne Rice adaptations, which also include 'Mayfair Witches.' Johnson is a producer with a long list of TV and film credits, who worked on 'Better Call Saul,' ' The series will air on AMC and then stream on their app, AMC+. No word yet on when, but since the novel has been timely virtually since it was published, it's almost always the right moment to adapt it. Advertisement Lisa Weidenfeld can be reached at

Mayfair Witches Boss Talks Finale's Multiple Losses (‘No One's Ever Dead'), Looks Ahead to Possible Season 3

Mayfair Witches' second season reached a bloody conclusion on Sunday in a finale that saw the death of a major character, the willing departure of another, and a haunting tease of what a potential third season would hold for Rowan and her family. In a nutshell, Julien and his fellow Scottish Mayfairs proceeded with their plan to kill Lasher, drink his blood and inherit the full extent of his power — only for Julien to betray his co-conspirators and keep all the power for himself. Rowan also drank from the cup, but only in the hopes of gaining enough power to bring Lasher back, which turned out to be a futile effort. More from TVLine Dark Winds Cast Set for TVLine Spotlight Conversation in New York Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2: Walker Goo Powers Up Radio City in Opening Minutes - Get Premiere Date Dark Winds Scores Early Renewal Ahead of Season 3 Premiere Just as the first season finale saw Rowan stepping into her power and accepting her destiny as a Mayfair, the second season finale marked another major turning point in her journey. A 'teleporting, lovely, powerful, transgressive, dark feeling' has emerged within Rowan, showrunner Esta Spalding tells TVLine — and it feels good. Grade the finale and season in our polls below, then read on for Spalding's take on the episode's biggest developments, as well as how they could impact a potential third season of Mayfair Witches. When you're finished, drop a comment with your full review of the game-changing hour, plus any of your hopes for the future of the Immortal Universe. While several characters met an untimely end in the finale, the most heartbreaking loss — and arguably the only heartbreaking loss — was that of poor Lasher, whose murder was orchestrated by Julien as part of his duplicitous power-gathering ceremony. The question is: Have we really seen the last of Jack Huston in this role? And the answer is… complicated. 'I feel like no one's ever dead in this universe,' Spalding says. 'I mean, it is the Immortal Universe. Spirits come back. He died in the Middle Ages and then was called down by Suzanne. There's a cycle there, and it would be super fun to explore.' But even if we do see the next iteration of Huston's character, it probably won't be anytime soon. 'It's the kind of thing that could happen in Season 4 or 5, should we be so lucky,' Spalding says. 'It doesn't feel like it's something that has to be there now.' In the immediate future, 'Rowan will be asking herself who she is without him, and what she will do without him.' Lasher — or Ashlar, pick your poison — may be no more, but his legacy lives on in the son he conceived with Emaleth. And if he's anything like his daddy, that little baby won't stay cute and cuddly for long. 'The Taltos are born in the morning, then they're four or five years old by the afternoon,' Spalding reminds us. If Mayfair Witches returns for a third season, 'that little baby that Emaleth was holding, who we hope escaped with her, would now be her fully grown son.' Unfortunately, the finale also marked the end of Rowan and Lark's relationship. After barely surviving his encounter with the Scottish Mayfairs, he isn't exactly itching to pursue Julien, which is pretty much Rowan's sole focus moving forward. Spalding says Rowan and Lark's issues can be boiled down to three little words: 'He's a human.' More specifically, 'he doesn't understand the burden of the power Rowan has where she feels like she can't just sit around and do nothing when she knows there's evil operating out in the world. She has to do something about it.' Rowan initially tried to downplay Lark's concerns during their long journey home, knowing full well that 'power corrupts.' As Spalding points out, 'she's not going to let on that she wants this power because he's essentially moralizing and telling her how she should behave.' 'That scene is really about Rowan leaving the last remnants of her totally human life behind,' she says. 'He's the one who says he can't be there for this. She's willing to try, but she also understands that he's right. He's from this moral plane that no longer exists to her.' Lark reluctantly drank a potion that would erase his memories of Rowan, and she made sure to watch him drink it before she disappeared from his life forever. Well, maybe not forever. 'Maybe his memories come back, who knows?' Spalding teases. So, what would Rowan and her fellow Mayfair witches do in a potential third season, aside from giving their family home some much-needed TLC? The final shot of the episode — Rowan standing fearlessly outside while Julien lurked surreptitiously in the bushes — paints a decent picture of the struggle to come. As Spalding puts it, 'that last moment is [Rowan saying] 'game on.' She's not going to back down from a battle with him. And they really are mirrors a little bit. She's not corrupted like Julien, and she hasn't done the terrible things he's done, but she does have the same kind of desire for power that he has.' 'It'll be interesting to see where that goes in a family that's known to takes sides,' she adds. 'Rowan and Julien are both designees, or have been designees, so it's fun to think about what could happen.'
