So there's certainly ample precedent for remixing the classic novel. AMC has brought in Rolin Jones to launch the series, and he'll work on 'Grapes of Wrath' and then shepherd subsequent editions of the anthology in years to come. He's got some solid experience bringing books to the screen — he's also the showrunner on 'Interview with the Vampire' and previously worked on 'Friday Night Lights.' He'll be aided by Mark Johnson, who oversees AMC's various Anne Rice adaptations, which also include 'Mayfair Witches.' Johnson is a producer with a long list of TV and film credits, who worked on 'Better Call Saul,' '
The series will air on AMC and then stream on their app, AMC+. No word yet on when, but since the novel has been timely virtually since it was published, it's almost always the right moment to adapt it.

The "King of the Hill" star was involved in a fatal shooting on Sunday. Jonathan Joss/Facebook What To Know Police responded to a call in south San Antonio around 7 p.m. on Sunday, where they found an injured man near the street. "The officers attempted life saving measures until EMS arrived. EMS pronounced the victim deceased," the SAPD said, per The Associated Press. Joss' husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, said in a statement posted to Facebook that he and Joss were "checking the mail" at their former San Antonio home, which had previously been the target of arson. In January, ABC's San Antonio station KSAT-TV reported that their home—which had been built by Joss' father—had burned down, killing several of their dogs. According to de Gonzales, who wed Joss on Valentine's Day this year, "A man approached us. He started yelling violent homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired." "Jonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone," he continued. "When the man fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life." Tristan Kern de Gonzales added: "He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other." Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, 56, was later arrested and charged with murder in Joss' death. On Monday, the SAPD released a statement via X, formerly Twitter, about the shooting: "SAPD Homicide is currently investigating the murder of Mr. Jonathan Joss. Despite online claims of this being a hate crime, currently the investigation has found no evidence to indicate that the Mr. Joss's murder was related to his sexual orientation." A separate SAPD X post read: "SAPD investigators handle these allegations very seriously and have thoroughly reviewed all available information. Should any new evidence come to light, the suspect will be charged accordingly." What People Are Saying King of the Hill actor Toby Huss, who most notably starred as Kahn Souphanousinphone and Cotton Hill on the show, wrote via his Instagram Stories: "RIP old friend. Godspeed." Sad to see. Prayers up. Hug your loved ones." Parks and Recreation co-star Nick Offerman told People: "The cast has been texting together about it all day and we're just heartbroken. Jonathan was such a sweet guy and we loved having him as our Chief Ken Hotate. A terrible tragedy." Tristan Kern de Gonzales said in his Facebook statement: "I was with him when he passed. I told him how much he was loved. To everyone who supported him, his fans, his friends, know that he valued you deeply. He saw you as family. My focus now is on protecting Jonathan's legacy and honoring the life we built together. If your concern is how someone coped with trauma or how loudly they speak when recounting injustice and being ignored by authorities then you never truly cared about my husband. Jonathan saved my life. I will carry that forward. I will protect what he built." What Happens Next An investigation into Joss' death is still ongoing.

‘King of the Hill' actor Jonathan Joss' suspected killer arrested, charged with murder
The man allegedly responsible for fatally shooting 'King of the Hill' voice actor Jonathan Joss is behind bars, The Post can confirm. The suspect, Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, was taken into custody in Texas on Sunday, June 1, at 7:05 p.m., online records show. He was charged with felony first-degree murder, and his bond was set at $200K. The Post is told that his court date is scheduled for August. Joss — known for playing the voice character John Redcorn on 'King of the Hill' — was shot and killed by his neighbor, believed to be Alvarez Ceja, on Sunday following an alleged altercation. Law enforcement claimed the neighbor pulled out a gun and shot Joss several times before fleeing the scene in a vehicle, according to TMZ. Officers responded to a call about a shooting in progress. By the time paramedics got to Joss and provided him with medical assistance, it was too late. The actor was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was captured a block away from the residence, reported the outlet. While officers are still trying to determine the motive behind the fatal shooting, neighbors told TMZ that Joss and Alvarez Ceja have a long history of feuding and have allegedly been locked in verbal and physical fights in the past. Joss' neighbors said his home burned down in February after he allegedly used a BBQ pit to heat it when his power was shut off. On Sunday, the neighbors claimed the actor returned to his house to collect a victim's fire fund check and found the skeleton of one of his beloved dogs that died in the fire. The image allegedly sent Joss into a rage, with eyewitnesses claiming he started yelling at anyone who crossed his path, including Alvarez Ceja, who lived two doors down. According to Joss' neighbors, his rants were not uncommon. They claimed the police had been called on the actor several times before his house went up in flames earlier this year. They also alleged that Joss would often do weird things like bang pans from his rooftop in the middle of the night. Before the fire, Joss' home was allegedly deemed unsafe and uninhabitable — which, neighbors claim, is why his power was shut off. The Post found a GoFundMe was started for Joss following the fire, which raised $10,721 for the actor. The page also revealed that his father built the home for his mother in 1957, and three of his dogs died in the blaze. Besides voicing John Redcorn on the popular Fox sitcom, Joss starred as Chief Ken Hotate in 'Parks and Recreation.' He also had short stints on shows like 'Ray Donovan' and 'Friday Night Lights.' He was 59 years old.
