Mayfair Witches Boss Talks Finale's Multiple Losses (‘No One's Ever Dead'), Looks Ahead to Possible Season 3
Mayfair Witches' second season reached a bloody conclusion on Sunday in a finale that saw the death of a major character, the willing departure of another, and a haunting tease of what a potential third season would hold for Rowan and her family.
In a nutshell, Julien and his fellow Scottish Mayfairs proceeded with their plan to kill Lasher, drink his blood and inherit the full extent of his power — only for Julien to betray his co-conspirators and keep all the power for himself. Rowan also drank from the cup, but only in the hopes of gaining enough power to bring Lasher back, which turned out to be a futile effort.

Dark Winds Scores Early Renewal Ahead of Season 3 Premiere
Just as the first season finale saw Rowan stepping into her power and accepting her destiny as a Mayfair, the second season finale marked another major turning point in her journey. A 'teleporting, lovely, powerful, transgressive, dark feeling' has emerged within Rowan, showrunner Esta Spalding tells TVLine — and it feels good.
Grade the finale and season in our polls below, then read on for Spalding's take on the episode's biggest developments, as well as how they could impact a potential third season of Mayfair Witches. When you're finished, drop a comment with your full review of the game-changing hour, plus any of your hopes for the future of the Immortal Universe.
While several characters met an untimely end in the finale, the most heartbreaking loss — and arguably the only heartbreaking loss — was that of poor Lasher, whose murder was orchestrated by Julien as part of his duplicitous power-gathering ceremony.
The question is: Have we really seen the last of Jack Huston in this role? And the answer is… complicated.
'I feel like no one's ever dead in this universe,' Spalding says. 'I mean, it is the Immortal Universe. Spirits come back. He died in the Middle Ages and then was called down by Suzanne. There's a cycle there, and it would be super fun to explore.'
But even if we do see the next iteration of Huston's character, it probably won't be anytime soon. 'It's the kind of thing that could happen in Season 4 or 5, should we be so lucky,' Spalding says. 'It doesn't feel like it's something that has to be there now.' In the immediate future, 'Rowan will be asking herself who she is without him, and what she will do without him.'
Lasher — or Ashlar, pick your poison — may be no more, but his legacy lives on in the son he conceived with Emaleth. And if he's anything like his daddy, that little baby won't stay cute and cuddly for long.
'The Taltos are born in the morning, then they're four or five years old by the afternoon,' Spalding reminds us. If Mayfair Witches returns for a third season, 'that little baby that Emaleth was holding, who we hope escaped with her, would now be her fully grown son.'
Unfortunately, the finale also marked the end of Rowan and Lark's relationship. After barely surviving his encounter with the Scottish Mayfairs, he isn't exactly itching to pursue Julien, which is pretty much Rowan's sole focus moving forward.
Spalding says Rowan and Lark's issues can be boiled down to three little words: 'He's a human.' More specifically, 'he doesn't understand the burden of the power Rowan has where she feels like she can't just sit around and do nothing when she knows there's evil operating out in the world. She has to do something about it.'
Rowan initially tried to downplay Lark's concerns during their long journey home, knowing full well that 'power corrupts.' As Spalding points out, 'she's not going to let on that she wants this power because he's essentially moralizing and telling her how she should behave.'
'That scene is really about Rowan leaving the last remnants of her totally human life behind,' she says. 'He's the one who says he can't be there for this. She's willing to try, but she also understands that he's right. He's from this moral plane that no longer exists to her.'
Lark reluctantly drank a potion that would erase his memories of Rowan, and she made sure to watch him drink it before she disappeared from his life forever. Well, maybe not forever.
'Maybe his memories come back, who knows?' Spalding teases.
So, what would Rowan and her fellow Mayfair witches do in a potential third season, aside from giving their family home some much-needed TLC? The final shot of the episode — Rowan standing fearlessly outside while Julien lurked surreptitiously in the bushes — paints a decent picture of the struggle to come.
As Spalding puts it, 'that last moment is [Rowan saying] 'game on.' She's not going to back down from a battle with him. And they really are mirrors a little bit. She's not corrupted like Julien, and she hasn't done the terrible things he's done, but she does have the same kind of desire for power that he has.'
'It'll be interesting to see where that goes in a family that's known to takes sides,' she adds. 'Rowan and Julien are both designees, or have been designees, so it's fun to think about what could happen.'

The Cleaning Lady Ends Season 4 on an Unresolved Note — Do You Want to See a Fifth Season?
The Cleaning Lady is still awaiting word on whether it will return to Fox for a fifth season — but in the meantime, Tuesday's Season 4 conclusion sure didn't feel like a series finale. On the contrary, Thony's got more unresolved mess to clean up than ever before. The season ender was a two-hour roller coaster for Thony, who began the episode in prison for Rex Blackley's murder, but ended it as a free woman with all charges against her dropped. In the middle, she a) survived multiple beatings from Ramona Sanchez and her cronies while incarcerated, b) snuck out of prison during a riot in which Ramona and several other inmates escaped, c) avoided getting buried alive by Ramona, thanks to a last-minute assist from Fiona, and d) was reunited with sweet Luca, despite Ramona's attempt to abduct both him and Violeta and raise them as her own children. And that's to say nothing of Thony's eventful few days in jail, which included everything from healing her cellmate's arthritis to giving an entire cell block food poisoning. Our girl's been busy. MobLand Finale Recap: The Harrigan Rat, Revealed! Plus: Grade the Episode Anyway, here's how it shook out in the end: * Just when Ramona planned to bury Thony alive and head off with Luca and Violeta in tow, Fiona arrived and thwacked Ramona in the head with a shovel, knocking her unconscious. Thony initially planned to finish the job by killing Ramona, calling it 'an act of compassion for the world,' but ultimately couldn't bring herself to do it. Instead, she tossed Ramona into the grave intended for herself, closed the lid, and covered the box with dirt. Thony later told Jorge that Ramona wouldn't be a problem 'ever again'… but in the closing moments, we saw Ramona regain consciousness underground, screaming as she realized she'd been buried. * Jorge lost control of the Sin Cara cartel, and he was replaced by the power-hungry Feng. Jorge and Violeta then boarded a private plane that would take them somewhere safe — a place where Jorge could also get 'what I need to crush Feng; I refuse to let him take Sin Cara away from me.' Jorge invited Thony and Luca to join him, but she insisted that she chose the cartel life, and she'll find a way to deal with Feng while Jorge's gone. * Before jetting off, Jorge gave Thony a small book of crucial information, which she was told to use as a bargaining chip with Joel Herman, now the new district attorney. ('It's what Joel needs to take down Sam Heller,' Jorge explained.) Thony did meet with Joel later on, but she gave the book of secrets to Feng instead — a record of 'dirty players and deals' kept by the former D.A., which Feng can now use to bribe and manipulate the appropriate people. In exchange for the book, Thony told Feng she wants to be made a full cartel associate. Meanwhile, in her meeting with Joel, Thony offered to make herself an informant for the D.A.'s office; she'll go back to the cartel, do her job, and report everything to Joel in order to help him prosecute a major corruption case against Sin Cara funder Sam Heller. In exchange, Joel would drop all charges against Thony and let her walk free. Both men appeared to agree to Thony's terms, but at the end of the finale, we found out what she really wants from these new arrangements. 'They all want to control me. But this puts me back in control,' she told Fiona. 'I'll let those men think that they own me, but I don't want to be a cartel associate. I don't want to be an informer. I want to take over Sin Cara.' Oh, Thony. With that, I hand it over to you. How do you feel about where left things? And are you hoping the show comes back for Season 5 after that finale? Outlander's Final Season: Everything We Know So Far
Warm up those bagpipes, because Outlander is about to start playing its swan song. Starz's time-travel drama will come to a conclusion with its upcoming eighth and final season, a 10-episode run that will bring the ballad of Jamie and Claire to its resting place. Which storylines from Diana Gabaldon's books will make the cut? Which characters (aside from Himself and Herself) will be back? And when the heck will we be able to watch it?! Towards Zero Is Glamorous, Gorgeous and Sneakily Sexy - Here Are 5 Reasons to Check Out BritBox's New Agatha Christie Series Blood of My Blood: Summer Premiere Date Set for Outlander Prequel Series Outlander Cast Photos: Behind the Scenes View List Dinna fash, Sassenachs: We've filled the list below with all the available intel about Outlander Season 8. We'll update it the moment there's any news, so make sure to check back often. And once you've scrolled through, hit the comments with your thoughts/feelings/opinions/hopes for the show's last season! Outlander's final season does not yet have a premiere date, but we'll be sure to update this post as soon as Starz announces one. Some context: The bulk of Season 8 filming wrapped in September 2024, though several cast members filmed reshoots shortly after. And in March 2025, series star Sam Heughan announced via Instagram that he'd just finished 'the last ADR' (aka re-recording dialogue that wasn't captured clearly during filming) on the series finale. Yes, Season 8 will be the time-travel drama's final run of episodes. Starz announced the series' ending in January 2023. 'It's been an incredible journey,' Heughan said in a video released at the time of the announcement. 'Thank you so much for being with us since Day 1,' series star Caitríona Balfe added. Since its start, Outlander has covered roughly one book in Diana Gabaldon's novel series per season. So it reasons that Season 8 would follow the events of Book 8, Written in My Own Heart's Blood. However, given that Gabladon has published Book 9 (Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone) and is working on Book 10, there's a good chance Season 8 will include storylines from all of the above. Co-showrunner Matthew B. Roberts says the guidelines for Season 8 were 'Nothing that doesn't affect Jamie and Claire gets in. It's gotta affect Jamie and Claire. All the main characters do — they're a part of it — but that's the drive. There's so many aspects. I mean, they're all big books. There's things where you kind of go over here, and you go over here — that's what makes the books so readable and fun. But when you have 10 episodes, you have to stay literally on track.' One plot that is not in the novels but will be addressed at the top of the final season: The Season 7 finale cliffhanger of whether Claire and Jamie's daughter, Faith, somehow survived what we thought was her stillbirth in Season 2. Roberts promises that fans will have that point cleared up 'visually' in the upcoming season. On the MacKenzie side of things, might Brianna and Roger have another baby in Season 8, like they do in Go Tell the Bees? 'As you know, we sometimes stick to the books, and we sometimes don't,' Skelton told TVLine coyly in February. 'But I think it would be great if they had another child. And wearing the fake pregnancy bumps is super fun, so sign me up.' Though Starz has not yet released an official cast list, we have it on good authority that Heughan, Balfe, Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, John Bell, Charles Vandervaart and David Berry will be back for the final season. Someone who won't return for the series' swan song is Kristen Atherton, who played Jamie's sister, Jenny, in Season 7. Though Jenny eventually joins her brother and his family in America in the novels, Roberts said time constraints meant making some tough cuts for Season 8. 'With 10 episodes,' he explained, 'there's a lot less you can do.' Along those lines, Tobias Menzies — who played Claire's husband, Frank, and his villainous forebear Jonathan 'Black Jack' Randall — also will not return, TVLine reported exclusively in March 2024. 'They're going to bring it home magnificently, I'm sure,' Menzies added. You'll be able to watch Outlander Season 8 on Starz and the Starz app. Starz has not yet released a trailer for Season 8. The moment that footage is available, we'll make sure to post it here. While you're waiting, entertain yourself with this behind-the-scenes video from our Season 7 TVLine x SheKnows cover shoot with Balfe, Heughan, Bell, Rankin and Skelton. You can find past seasons of Outlander on the Starz app and on-demand. Yes! The prequel Outlander: Blood of My Blood will premiere on Starz later this summer. For all the details on that series, which follows Jamie's and Claire's parents, make sure to check out our up-to-the-minute Everything We Know post. Outlander Season 8 will consist of 10 episodes.
