McDonald's Snack Wrap is officially returning. Here's when.

Snacktime is nigh at the Golden Arches. On June 3, McDonald's announced exactly when the Snack Wrap will return to partipating restaurants nationwide: July 10. And, thankfully, it's not a limited-time offer, either — it's here for good. The Snack Wrap, which has been off menus for almost a decade, features one of the chain's new McCrispy Strips — a chicken strip made with all-white meat — and is topped with shredded lettuce and shredded cheese, wrapped in a flour tortilla. This go-round, the Snack Wrap comes in two flavors: Spicy, which McDonald's says 'brings the heat with a habanero kick' reminiscent of its Spicy McCrispy sandwich; and Ranch, which 'delivers a satisfying burst of cool ranch goodness,' according to the brand, along with hints of garlic and onion. Customers can get the Snack Wrap on its own or as a combo meal, which will come with two wraps, a medium fries and your drink of choice. It's been a long journey for Mickey D's devotees: On Dec. 5, Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald's USA, first revealed that the Snack Wrap was on its way back while discussing the new McValue menu. 'The Snack Wrap will be back in 2025,' Erlinger said at the time, declining to reveal the exact date. 'It has a cult following, I get so many emails into my inbox about this product.' Then, on April 15, the chain teased the official release date: 'snack wraps 0x.14.2025,' it posted on X, without specifying the month. Now, for the official rollout, McDonald's is leaning into the fact that for years, fans have inundated the chain with pleas to reinstate the item after it was kicked off menus in 2016. A petition started in 2021 in its honor garnered over 17,000 signatures, and fans resorted to posting TikToks and making dedicated Instagram accounts devoted to bringing it back. While the chicken-craving masses waited for the Snack Wrap's return, other fast-food chains have dropped their own versions: In March 2023, Wendy's introduced its Grilled Chicken Ranch Wrap; in July 2023, Taco Bell reintroduced its Crispy Chicken Taco for a limited time; and in August 2023, Burger King launched BK Royal Crispy Wraps for a limited time, too.

McDonald's teases return of fan favorite after nearly a decade. ‘Ultimate comeback'

The McDonald's snack wrap is staging a comeback nearly 10 years in the making. The beloved wrap will return to menus Thursday, July 10, the fast-food giant announced June 3. 'The snack wrap is back,' Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald's USA, said in a video. 'It's because you've sounded off. We've heard you, we've listened.' The chain didn't say if the wraps will return as a limited-time item, or if they're here to stay. McClatchy News reached out to McDonald's for more information June 3 and was awaiting a response. The news comes nearly a decade after snack wraps were discontinued at U.S. restaurants in 2016, prompting multiple petitions and pleas for their return. The on-the-go snack featured customers' choice of a grilled or crispy chicken strip, lettuce, cheese and sauce in a flour tortilla. McDonald's announcement also comes one day after rival Popeyes launched its own chicken wrap, a first for the fried chicken chain. 'We wanted to create a Chicken Wrap that was undeniably Popeyes,' chef Amy Alarcon, vice president of culinary innovation at Popeyes, said in a news release. 'Infusing the flavors from our famous biscuit into our wraps was the perfect way to ensure our signature flavors shined through.' McDonald's had hinted at the snack wrap's return in recent months with an initial launch date of '0x.14.2025.' In May, it rolled out the new McCrispy Strips, giving fans another sign that the beloved snack was headed back to menus. Before it was officially phased out, some McDonald's franchisees complained about the prep work associated with the wrap: 'They took too long for workers to make, from steaming the tortillas to cutting chicken and folding the ingredients up to fit in the cardboard boxes,' Business Insider reported at the time. News of the snack wrap's return prompted a flurry of reactions online: 'Fans never gave up on the Snack Wrap, inspiring the ultimate comeback,' McDonald's said on its website. McDonald's confirms date of Snack Wrap's return

McDonald's is bringing back the fan-favorite Snack Wrap this summer. The fast food chain's official X account posted the Snack Wrap's release date Tuesday, writing, "snack wrap 07.10.2025." Originally introduced in the mid-2000s, the Snack Wrap -- a chicken strip or tender, shredded lettuce, cheese and sauce wrapped in a soft flour tortilla -- quickly became a fan favorite before being discontinued in the United States in 2016. McDonald's USA President Joe Erlinger threw Snack Wrap fans into a frenzy when he announced on " Good Morning America" in December 2024 that the Snack Wrap would be back on McDonald's menus in 2025. At the time, Erlinger acknowledged the product's near-mythical status among fans, saying, "It has a cult following."

McDonald's to Hire a Massive 375,000 U.S. Workers This Summer

McDonald's is the largest U.S. restaurant chain by systemwide sales, so when they act, it's a big deal. The longstanding fast-food chain plans to expand their offerings to 50,000 global restaurants by 2027, so don't be surprised if you see more McDonald's establishments popping up in your area. McDonald's was founded way back in 1940 by the McDonald brothers, Richard and Maurice, in San Bernardino, California. After trying their hand in the movie business, the brothers started operating successful drive-in restaurants, and in 1948, they went on step further to launch their Speedee Service System featuring 15 cent hamburgers. The idea took off, and the rest of McDonald's history. Now, McDonald's is planning to go on a big hiring spree this summer and offer many Americans jobs. They plan to hire 375,000 new employees across the United States, which is the fast-food company's largest hiring spree in years. In 2020, McDonald's announced that it was hoping to hire 260,000 workers, which was also significant. It's worth noting that McDonald's new positions are both for new roles in new restaurants, as well as filling turnover numbers for workers who have left the company. The hiring spree is part of the larger picture for McDonald's. The chain plans to open 900 domestic locations by 2027, and last year, it added 100 locations in the United States, according to Technomic. "I often think about the time I spent working in our restaurants as a general manager, and it was immediately clear that crew members are the heart and soul of this brand," McDonald's USA president Joe Erlinger said in a statement. "They go above and beyond to take care of our customers, and it's our job to take care of and create opportunities for them." Erlinger added, "When you put on an apron for a shift at McDonald's, you're building skills you'll carry with you for life." McDonald's Is Hiring a Massive Amount of Workers

The company also said it will open 900 new McDonald's restaurants in the U.S. within the next two years. McDonald's is hiring up to 375,000 employees in restaurants across the U.S. this summer, the company announced on Monday. The hiring push is the company's biggest in at least five years, and the new roles will be for both corporate stores and franchises in anticipation of the busy summer season. The burger behemoth also announced that it's opening 900 new restaurants in the U.S. within the next two years, or "by 2027." "When you put on an apron for a shift at McDonald's, you're building skills you'll carry with you for life." McDonald's has around 13,000 locations in the U.S., and all are expected to participate in the hiring drive. CNN notes that because most fast food restaurants have 100% turnover rates, the new hiring initiative likely won't increase McDonald's total workforce, which is around 800,000. The company famously says that 1 in 8 Americans has worked at a McDonald's restaurant. Corporate and participating franchisees have invested over $240 million in the Archways to Opportunity program, which helps McDonald's employees gain a high school and college education, according to the statement. Earlier in May, the company reported its largest three-month sales drop since Q2 2020 in the height of the pandemic, per NBC. Same-store sales in the U.S. fell 3.6%, while analysts had forecasted about half of that (1.7%). "Consumers today are grappling with uncertainty," said McDonald's Chairman and CEO Chris Kempczinski at the time.
