McDonald's debuts latest Happy Meal collab — and it's a wild mashup of iconic kids' toy characters
Former '90s kids are going to love the cartoon combo coming to McDonald's Happy Meals. The fast food chain announced an exclusive collab that will have nostalgic fans rushing to the Golden Arches: the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Hello Kitty and Friends Happy Meal. McDonald's is tapping Ronald McDonald, Grimace and the rest of its 'colorful cast of characters' for a trip down memory lane — in the form of a new meal. The McDonaldland Meal bag arrives Tuesday, Aug. 12, for a limited time at participating restaurants nationwide, the fast-food giant said. Inspired by its 'cherished' characters, the bundle includes a new Mt. McDonaldland shake and one of six collectible tins 'sure to unlock core memories,' according to McDonald's. The tins include stickers, postcards and more. It stopped just short of sharing the shake's 'surprise' flavor, inviting fans to take their best guess. Each meal bag also comes with customers' choice of a quarter pounder with cheese or 10-piece chicken McNuggets, and a side of French fries. Pricing information wasn't immediately available. McDonald's pointed to the popularity of its beloved characters — Ronald McDonald, Grimace, Birdie, the Hamburglar, Mayor McCheese and the Fry Friends — and their home in McDonaldland, a fantasy land first introduced in 1971.
