Bowen Yang wants to replace Colin Jost and Michael Che on 'SNL' 'Weekend Update' with himself and Matt Rogers

"I'm gonna give Che and Colin the chop so that you and I can do 'Update' together," Yang told Rogers on "Hot Ones Versus." Bowen Yang wants to take the Las Culturistas podcast to the Saturday Night Live "Weekend Update" desk — even though it means getting rid of current stars Colin Jost and Michael Che in the process. Yang made the hilarious revelation on YouTube's Hot Ones Versus on Tuesday, while the SNL star and his fellow Culturistas cohost Matt Rogers had to tell the truth or suffer the wrath of the dreaded Last Dab. When it was his turn to ask Yang a question to answer truthfully, Rogers stated, "Oh God, trauma! We both auditioned for SNL, but only you were asked to join. If you could have me replace any current SNL cast, who would it be?" As Yang loudly fake cried over the question, Rogers laughed. Then something happened out of frame to surprise Yang, who asked "Oh my God, what happened?" The video's director could be heard telling them it was just the confetti gun, which Rogers promptly picked up and aimed at Yang to jokingly scare him into answering the SNL question. "If I could have you replace any current cast member," Yang repeated, lost in thought. Rogers prompted, "Doesn't Marcello [Hernandez] have enough? I think he's gonna be fine." "I love Marcello so much. I'm gonna say... I'm gonna give [Michael] Che and Colin [Jost] the chop so that you and I can do '[Weekend] Update' together," he said at last, referring to the fan-favorite mock news segment of the sketch comedy series. "I love that, I think we'd be great at 'Update.' We'd give a new fresh take," Rogers concluded. Che and Jost have hosted the segment since 2014. Their first appearance as co-anchors came in the season 40 premiere. Many other famous faces have co-anchored or anchored "Weekend Update" in the show's 50 years on air, including Seth Meyers, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Cecily Strong, Jimmy Fallon, Norm Macdonald, Chevy Chase, and more. Meyers at one time held the record for longest tenured "Weekend Update" anchor, but Jost broke that record in October 2021, and Che has since joined him in surpassing the Late Night host. In addition to their Las Culturistas podcast, Yang and Rogers can be seen hosting the television debut of the Las Culturistas Culture Awards on Bravo on Aug. 5. Elsewhere on Hot Ones Versus, the two get into just about everything, from Yang's favorite childhood wrestler to Rogers' biggest celebrity crush. Plus, who would Yang kick out of the Wicked group chat? And will Rogers face his fears and walk under a ladder? Tune in to the episode of Hot Ones Versus, above, for all of that and to see who takes home the golden chicken wing trophy. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly

Horrified SNL star reveals he was sent an 'envelope full of BULLETS' during his time on the show

Saturday Night Live alum Bobby Moynihan has revealed that he was once sent 'an envelope full of bullets' while working at the iconic show. The comedian, 48, recently appeared on the Syd & Olivia Talk Sh*t podcast where he described the weird ways fans had reached out during his time on the show. 'I got an envelope full of bullets once at work - just like an envelope with a drawing of one of my characters holding a machine gun and the envelope had bullets in it,' a horrified Moynihan said. He continued: 'It was Riblet and there was like an amazing anime drawing of Riblet firing a machine gun. 'And then it had bullets in it and it was instantly taken from my hands.' Riblet was one of the comedian's recurring characters on Weekend Update, who was a crass high school friend of Michael Che. But bullets weren't the only strange fan mail he has ever received. Moynihan explained he also had to delete the Facebook app from his phone after receiving a slew of strange messages from fans. 'I just stopped looking at it,' he joked, adding he has not checked back in '20 years' - and there is a good reason why. The comedian explained that he was inundated with requests from fans for pictures of other cast members' feet. 'It was always like, "hey love you on SNL, tell Keenan he's awesome and if you can take a picture of blank's feet,"' he laughed. 'And I was like "What?"' he recalled. 'People keep asking me to take pictures of people or a couple times... to take pictures of their feet,' he mused, adding: 'It was always something about their feet.' The comedian added it was always female cast members that strangers requested feet pictures from. 'I have Fred Flintstone feet. I just got big old feet,' he joked in response to not receiving any requests for him personally. The NCIS: Origins actor said that while it didn't happen often, it happened 'enough times' that he said he decided he was 'done with Facebook.' Moynihan said he thinks fans felt comfortable asking him for strange requests because he is 'too nice,' telling the hosts: 'I think I'm a people pleaser.' Moynihan left SNL after nine seasons in 2017. He was known for portraying the likes of Chris Christie, Guy Fieri, Snooki, Weekend Update staple Drunk Uncle and Riblet. Riblet did not make an appearance during the 50th anniversary, but his iconic Drunk Uncle character made an appearance on the Weekend Update desk during the anniversary special. In March, it was announced the SNL alum will appear as a series regular opposite Tracy Morgan in an untitled comedy pilot from Tina Fey, Robert Carlock and Sam Means.

Scarlett Johansson Crashed Colin Jost and Michael Che's Season Finale Joke Swap

Colin Jost in bright red lipstick, an apology for a certain "roast beef" quip, and more: The Season 50 finale installment of Weekend Update's semi-annual joke swap had everything — including an appearance by Host Scarlett Johansson. The actress, who just happens to be Jost's wife, got a (forced) apology from Michael Che for a crack he made Jost say during the Christmas joke swap. But Che found plenty of other ways to have fun at Jost's expense this time around. As always, Jost and Che kicked things off by explaining that they'd be reading jokes the other wrote for them to read. "But before we start, it's SNL's 50th season, so I want to take a moment to say something to our boss, Lorne Michaels: Lorne, retire, b----! Let me run the show," Jost said reluctantly, meaning the game was already duo proceeded to dutifully tell the others' off-color jokes about a variety of topics, before they were joined by a guest: Johansson, who'd been a part of their previous outing in December 2024 via a reaction cam. "You know, before I tell another joke, I want to take this opportunity to apologize to someone I hurt," Che read off the cue cards. "Scarlett, can you come out here?" Johansson obliged, walking out in jeans and a maroon blouse to hear what he had to say. After interjecting an "I don't like this," Che read his Jost-penned apology to Johansson for making fun of her anatomy, explaining he "was just lashing out because I'm jealous." Jost also made Che say he has "more nipples than a pregnant dog." "Yes, I have heard that about you," Johansson nodded."And, Colin, I'm sorry, too, because I owe you everything," Che continued. "When Colin discovered me, I was selling crack outside the Bronx Zoo. And now look at me: selling crack outside the American Girl doll store! I've told thousands of jokes on Update and gotten dozens of laughs, but I've never said the three most important words of all — I love you." Perfectly reacting in the moment to a command to apply lipstick, Jost closed things out with one last desperate succession plea to Lorne Michaels. SNL comedian Michael Che apologises to Scarlett Johansson for crude vagina joke as she gets payback

It's payback time. Scarlett Johansson and her husband, Colin Jost, got revenge against Michael Che on Saturday Night Live after he compared her vagina to roast beef last December. During the comedians' 'Weekend Update' segment, Jost and Che swapped jokes they wrote for one another. 'Before I tell another joke, I wanna take this opportunity to apologise to someone I hurt,' the Top Five actor, 41, said, prompting the Black Widow actress, 40, to appear onstage. 'Last time we did joke swaps, I made Colin do some tasteless jokes, comparing your vagina to Costco roast beef,' Che continued. Johansson sarcastically replied: 'Yes, I remember that.' The That Damn Michael Che star then said, per the joke written for him by his SNL co-star, 'I was just lashing out because I'm jealous. 'I've never seen a human vagina. Notice I said human, because I once spent a summer on a farm.' Jost, 42, then made Che read jokes about him not being able to take his hoodie off during sex because he has 'more nipples than a pregnant dog.' Johansson added, 'Yes, I have heard that about you.' Last December, Che made Jost read a vulgar joke about his wife's post-partum lady parts when they swapped quips during their weekly sketch comedy segment. 'I want to dedicate this next joke to my boo, Scarlett Johansson,' the comedian hesitantly said, as the camera cut to the Marvel star, who was watching from backstage. 'Costco has removed their roast beef sandwich from its menu, but I ain't tripping. I be eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid … Nah, nah, I just playin' baby. You know I don't go downtown! Shiz! That's gay as hell!' he added. Johansson's mouth dropped open while listening to her husband's lines. The following month, the Pop Culture Jeopardy! host said the Avengers: Endgame actress was 'obviously surprised' when she heard their quips. 'I'm in trouble, I think, with a lot of people,' he said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in January. 'Scarlett was genuinely so shocked,' he shared, adding that the SNL team gave her a heads-up. 'They were like, 'Hey, would you be OK if Michael [Che] made a little, like, kind of vagina joke at some point?'' he recalled. 'She was like, 'Sure, you know, whatever, I'm open to it.'' However, Jost confessed he 'didn't know where it was going, and then the graphic came up for Arby's.' Jost and Johansson met on the set of SNL when the actress hosted an episode in 2017. They tied the knot three years later. They are parents to three-year-old son Cosmo, whom they welcomed in August 2021. The Lucy star is also a mum to daughter Rose, 10, whom she shares with ex-husband and French journalist Romain Dauriac.
