EastEnders confirms unexpected love for Shrimpy - and it's someone we all know
This article contains spoilers for tonight's epsiode of EastEnders, which airs tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One or can be streamed now on iPlayer. Rejoice! Shrimpy (Ben Champniss) has received some significant character development, and this soaps reporter is absolutely living for it. There's nothing I love more than championing the hard work of our favourite EastEnders who play a smaller role in the Walford community – they've been in the back of shots for decades, cementing the fictional world as a real place. It's something the soap has done for the last four decades, from Winston and Big Ron (Ulric Browne and Ron Tarr) on the market, to Debbie (Tracey Chatterley) in the Minute Mart, they've kept the cogs turning while the main characters cause high drama each weeknight. Imagine my delight when, last year, the GOAT – Tracey the barmaid (Jane Slaughter) – received her own digital spin-off series, introducing her son and wider family. Now it was Shrimpy's turn to step into the spotlight, as he tried to woo one resident in today's instalment. Market trader Shrimp arrived with his signature hats and mod haircut on Bridge Street in 2014, following the closure of the nearby Spring Lane equivalent. It was here that he caught the attention of Donna Yates (Lisa Hammond), but their relationship didn't go any further. He always gets involved in events, and was one of the lucky locals to meet the then Prince Charles and Camilla in 2022. We've also seen him be a keen piano player, and he recently performed at Martin Fowler's (James Bye) wake. It was about time he found a love interest, and Elaine Knight's (Elaine Peacock) karaoke party was the perfect opportunity. As we've seen this week, she only planned the bash to try and sabotage Cindy Beale's (Michelle Collins) Prince Albert bar relaunch. Unfortunately, it was a flop – and Elaine was clueless as to why. Shrimpy took to the mic and belted out Van Morrison's 1989 romantic ballad Have I Told You Lately. The person who he was serenading? Marie Evans (Liz Sweet) from the cafe! Marie has held the fort at the eatery since 2000, and storylines over the years have included the birth of her son – with Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) subsequently stealing her birthing video to put daughter Lucy (Hetti Bywater) off having a child of her own. We also know she's an animal lover… but that's about it. But wedding bells could be ringing out across Albert Square soon, as she seemed very smitten with Shrimpy during his performance. Nursing a glass of red wine, she swayed backwards and forwards to the song as a bemused Linda and Johnny Carter (Kellie Bright and Charlie Suff) and Felix Baker (Matthew James Morrison) watched on. 'Are they…?' asked Linda, with Elaine chirping: 'What Marie does in her own time is her business, but I'm concerned about the lack of our business.' Later, as the pair cosied up together, Elaine and husband George (Colin Salmon) decided to gatecrash Cindy's re-opening, presenting her with a bottle of champers. When Cindy explained that the night would've been unachievable without George's financial support for agency staff, Elaine was furious. More Trending She marched out, thinking it was the ultimate betrayal. George was then forced to return to The Albert after closing to apologise for his wife's behaviour, clearly softening towards Cindy. Elaine's fortunes hadn't changed, The Vic stayed empty as Patrick and Yolande Trueman (Rudolph Walker and Angela Wynter) belted out Hot Chocolate's It Started with a Kiss. Stacey and Lily make amends and the Slaters rally together to set up a makeshift camp at home when Alfie reveals the campervan is no longer available. Harvey is overcome with guilt and heads to the Square but when he returns home, Jean proposes… Vicki and Ross continue to worry about Joel's behaviour, as Vicki attempts to persuade Ross to speak to Ravi and Priya about their discovery last week. Ross decides to speak to Avani instead, but Suki spies the conversation from afar and grows suspicious of the clandestine chat. Gina grows concerned for Harry and later secretly reveals all to Teddy and Nicola when they accost her in the Minute Mart on his wellbeing. Gina denies any wrongdoing, and the pair later make amends in The Vic where Jay warns Gina about her growing friendship with Harry. Elsewhere, Linda is confused when Phil is reluctant to call Sharon, but he drops a bombshell and reveals she slept with Grant… Harvey fails to find an answer, forcing a heartbroken Jean to flee to the café where she confides in Kathy. Harvey remains tight-lipped when questioned by Alfie and prepares to reveal all to Jean when she returns but things go from bad to worse when Jean mistakes Harvey's words as an acceptance to her proposal. Harvey makes his excuses to leave as the Slaters celebrate, and he heads to Kathy's for a kiss but unbeknown to them, Cindy is watching and has recorded it all… Suki's suspicions are raised further when Avani and Ross give different versions of events when questioned about their chat, forcing Vicki to reveal to Suki that Joel slept with Avani. Harry misreads Gina's signals and he leaves to take solace in The Vic with Billy. Gina goes in search of Harry. Elsewhere, Linda tries to persuade Phil to speak to Sharon. Ian and Kathy excitedly prepare for the baby's welcome home party, but disaster strikes when Cindy arrives. In The Vic, the residents of Walford join the Beales celebrations, but triumphant Cindy gatecrashes. Peter shuns Cindy, and feeling cast out once again, Cindy decides to play the video of Kathy and Harvey kissing during his and Jean's engagement announcement for all to see. Suki attempts to talk to Avani about sleeping with Joel, but Avani is in no mood to talk and storms out. Suki tries to talk to Priya about Avani, but she soon covers realising Ravi is in earshot. More Trending Later, Suki finds a quiet moment to reveal all to Priya, but Ravi returns home mid-conversations and overhears everything. Ravi heads to No.43 to berate Joel and a fight ensues between Ross and Ravi. Harvey is overwhelmed as the Square congratulate him on his engagement, as the Slaters head to The Vic to officially announce the news at George and Elaine's request. EastEnders spoilers: Affair uncovered, Ross and Ravi showdown and Joel exposed
EastEnders spoilers for next week promise drama and heartbreak in the Square, as one affair is uncovered, Ross and Ravi come to blows, and Joel is exposed There's plenty of drama in Albert Square next week, as EastEnders spoilers show things going from bad to worse for two residents. Cindy Beale fulfils her promise of getting revenge on Kathy, as she decides to play video of Kathy and Harvey kissing for all to see, leaving poor Jean heartbroken. If things couldn't get any worse, the reveal comes just days after Jean proposes to Harvey. The proposal comes as the Slaters prepare for a camping trip, which Lily refuses to attend if her mother Stacey is there, despite Harvey's efforts to persuade Stacey to come. The pair soon make amends and the Slaters rally together to set up a makeshift camp at home. However, Harvey later arrives home riddled with guilt after heading to the café earlier to seek solace with Kathy after Lily and Stacey's drama. To his utter shock, Jean is waiting with a surprise proposal. Of course, a guilty Harvey fails to find and answer and a heartbroken Jean confides in Kathy of all people. Harvey later prepares to reveal all to Jean, but things go from bad to worse for Harvey when she mistakes Harvey's words as an acceptance to her proposal. The Slaters are overjoyed as they celebrate the happy news, however during the celebrations Harvey sneaks off for a kiss with Kathy, but unbeknownst to them, Cindy is watching and has recorded it all. The pair are later exposed by a cunning Cindy during a celebration in the newly opened Vic for Lauren and Peter's baby's welcome home party. Feeling cast out once again, Cindy decides to play the video of Kathy and Harvey kissing for all to see, during his and Jean's engagement announcement. A heartbroken Jean presses Harvey on its contents, and Kathy later reveals all to Ian. It's no better on the other side of the Square as Ravi is left reeling when he finds out his daughter Avani slept with Joel. Vicki persuades Ross to speak to Priya and Ravi about their discovery, but he decides to speak to Avani instead. However, Suki spies the conversation from afar, and later Vicki is forced to tell Suki the truth. Suki then reveals all to Priya, but Ravi arrives home mid-conversations and overhears everything. A fuming Ravi then goes to No.43 to berate Joel, where a huge fight erupts between fuming fathers Ross and Ravi. Elsewhere, Gina grows concerned for Harry who is still mourning the loss of his ex-girlfriend Shireen. She later secretly reveals all to Teddy and Nicola when they accost her in the Minute Mart on his wellbeing. Harry later dismisses them before riling at Gina, while Jay warns her about her growing friendship with Harry. If that wasn't enough, another resident's 'secret' is set to be exposed next week when Linda finds out about Sharon's night with Grant.

EastEnders Joel's real plan for Avani 'revealed' as his secret exposed
In tonight's EastEnders Joel and Avani get closer - but fans are worried for the teen amid fears Joel, who arrived on the Square with Vicki Fowler and Ross Marshall, is 'bad news' In tonight's EastEnders, Joel Marshall and Avani Nandra-Hart seemed to be getting even closer, as Joel was seen paying Declan for Avani, who had no money. It's been a tough time for Avani lately, after she recently found out that the police won't be taking her complaint further after she was strip searched. In tonight's episode, Avani was seen stealing money from the Minute Mart to pay Declan for drugs, before she was told by her mum Priya to give it back. However, it didn't stop her getting drugs from Declan, as Joel stepped in to pay for her in the café. "Why did you do that?," Avani asked, as Joel responded: "I don't know, maybe I like you. Anyway, I'll give you a call later." Earlier on in the show however, Joel was heard asking Amy out – before she told him Avani was the one who needed cheering up. Fans on X, formerly known as Twitter are worried about Avani, as they don't trust Joel's intentions - as some predict he's using her vulnerability to his advantage. One penned: "Joel gonna be the next teenage psycho as if our Avani hasn't been through enough bless her #eastenders," as another wrote: "I don't trust Joel with a barge pole. Keep your distance from him Avani. #EastEnders." Another wrote: "He uses quite manipulative language. I think he might be controlling and possessive. Only time will tell," as a fourth wrote: "There's definitely something 'off' with him. "The way he's sniffing around Avani doesn't sit right with me. I don't think he's trying to make Barney jealous, he's obviously heard about Avani's police ordeal and seems to be trying to use her vulnerability to his advantage." It's set to be a big week for Joel next week, spoilers reveal. Joel's secret is finally set to be revealed – as Vicki Fowler makes a discovery about her stepson, leading to a row with her partner Ross. Joel's dad Ross spots his son's obsession with his phone and it leads to a clash. Vicki tries to defuse the situation, but it only causes a row between the couple. Ross later reveals the truth to Vicki regarding their debt, and the real reason they had to leave Australia, while fans know the debt is really Joel's. A shocked Vicki then flees with Ross later attempting to fix things between them, although it's clear she's not happy...

EastEnders 'lets slip' Nicola Mitchell's 'demise' as fans spot eerie foreshadowing
EastEnders' Nicola Mitchell didn't have the best of birthdays in today's episode as Teddy Mitchell found out about Shireen's body - and fans predict there's more trouble ahead EastEnders fans have predicted Nicola Mitchell 's 'eventual demise' after today's drama in the Square. In tonight's episode Teddy finally learned that Nicola had buried Harry's ex-girlfriend Shireen's body in Paradise Park after overhearing a conversation between herself and Ravi Gulati. Earlier in the week Benji, who buried the body for Nicola, refused to help her and revealed he'd buried her missing diamond necklace with the body so the crime could be linked back to her. However, a smug Nicola thought she had everything under control when she thought she could bribe Ravi with £10,000 to do the dirty work for her. However, once Ravi found out it was a body she wanted him to move all hell broke loose. Unfortunately for Nicola Teddy walked in on their conversation and Ravi had no problems in revealing all to Teddy. Of course Teddy was left furious, as Nicola begged him not to tell their sons Barney and Harry. Nicola later tearfully admits it was Shireen after screaming: "It was four years ago!," leading to Teddy to put two and two together. It looks like there's no way out for Nicola now, and fans predict things could be getting even worse for her. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: "After today (lmao) I feel like that line is foreshadowing Nicola's eventual demise. I just hope Ravi makes it out alive to the other side as well…" as they shared a picture of a scene from Monday with Ravi and Zack, who is Barney's biological father, in the Minute Mart. As Zack explained he had been fired by Nicola, Ravi told him she was a "wrong'un". Zack later responded: "I wish we could bring Nicola down a peg or two." Ravi then chillingly said: "She's got a brass neck and it'll choke her at some point, don't you worry about it." Which fans now think is a clear sign Nicola is set for a downfall. One fan penned: "I think today was foreshadowing him or Zack or both playing a part in bringing down Nicola in the future, but I don't think he knows anything right now", as another agreed: "do hope its ravi to bring down nicola. it would be slightly satisfying #EastEnders." However, Shireen's body wasn't the only secret she was hiding from Teddy, who is still blissfully unaware that his son, Barney, is actually Zack's son. How long will Nicola be able to keep another bombshell secret? EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
