Tom Cruise 'has been a mentor for Ana de Armas'

Tom Cruise has been an "incredible mentor" to Ana de Armas. The 63-year-old actor and Ana, 37, have a "special work relationship" and the actress has "prepped" all summer for their first project together - a supernatural ocean thriller called Deeper. A source told People: "Tom is crazy hardworking and she's very excited to work with him. She calls it an opportunity of a lifetime." Tom and Ana have been romantically linked to each other over recent months. However, an insider has insisted that their relationship is "not romantic" and that they are simply friends and work partners. The source shared: "Tom is an incredible mentor to Ana. She has nothing but amazing things to say about him." Tom is still one of Hollywood's most bankable stars, and he's never lost his passion for filmmaking. The actor recently admitted that he's fulfilling a "life-long dream" by working in the movie business. He told Extra: "It's such a privilege to do what I do. "It's been a life-long dream of mine to be able to do this and to make movies ... I truly, I love it. That is my, I don't know, it's not what I do, it's who I am. "It is my honour to entertain." Tom is willing to put his body on the line in order to make the best movies possible. The actor - who has suffered various injuries during his career, including a broken ankle while shooting 2018's Mission: Impossible - Fallout - explained: "I fly aerobatic airplanes, I fly jets, I fly helicopters, and this took all of our ability and all of our skill to be able find the camera angles to tell this story." Tom needed to be in tip-top physical shape to shoot the Mission: Impossible movies, and he felt particularly proud of the action scenes in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. He said: "Physically, what I had to do to prepare for this thing was quite extreme, and I can tell you this - whatever people see in the trailer or on TV, it is not even a taste of what they have in store for them when they see this film."

Netflix just added the first 5 'Mission Impossible' movies — here's my ranking from best to worst

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to stream the first five 'Mission: Impossible' movies on Netflix. As part of its July slate, the world's most popular streaming service has added Ethan Hunt's first five missions. While 2018's 'Mission: Impossible - Fallout' is my personal favorite in the franchise, this quintet includes some of the best Hollywood action blockbusters ever made. From the dizzying heights of 'Ghost Protocol,' which sees Tom Cruise scale the world's tallest building in an acrobatic feat that would make Spider-Man blush, to the ultra-intense opening of 'Mission: Impossible III,' which I very often watch standalone. It's that good. "M: I" is a marvellous popcorn franchise. To celebrate Netflix becoming the new streaming home for (most, but not quite all eight of) the 'Mission: Impossible' movies, I decided to rank them from best to worst. But to be honest, they're all worth watching, so even my bottom pick (no spoilers) should be in your watchlist. Selecting my top pick of the 'Mission: Impossible' movies added to Netflix this month was tricky, but I went with 'Rogue Nation' in the end. That's largely because I think the thrilling opera scene is perhaps the series' peak, and because it marks Rebecca Ferguson's first appearance as former MI6 agent, Ilsa Faust. Plus, Sean Harris' Solomon Lane remains 'Mission: Impossible's' best villain, and the lead into the iconic theme tune is exquisite. In 'Rogue Nation,' Ethan Hunt faces off against The Syndicate, a clandestine network of operatives seeking to create a new world order. The shadowy group represents a fantastic foe for Hunt and his team to battle against, and 'Rogue Nation' sees the series comfortably in its groove following the standard-setting 'Ghost Protocol.' It's a phenomenal action spy movie. Watch on Netflix now By the fourth entry, most franchises are running on fumes, but 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol' bucked the trend and delivered a popcorn spy flick with more memorable moments than I can list here. The fan-favorite sequence that sees Hunt scale the Burj Khalifa in Dubai often gets all the plaudits, but I think my highlight is the Kremlin infiltration scene as Hunt and Benji (Simon Pegg) break into the securely guarded Russian complex before the fortified landmark is blown up with Cruise in full sprint. After this terrorist attack, Hunt and his team are blamed for the fallout, and so the IMF team must go on the run to locate those truly responsible and bring them down. The whole disavowed by the government and left without any backup shtick is a bit routine for the spy genre, but it's well-worn ground for a good reason. Plus, Jeremy Renner's inclusion as William Brandt gives Cruise an extra playmate. It's a shame he only stayed around for one more sequel. Watch on Netflix now The third 'Mission: Impossible' movie hooks you from the very start with an opening scene that makes it very clear that new villain Owen Davian (an ever-excellent Philip Seymour Hoffman) is not playing around. From here, the situation escalates further, and while director J. J. Abrams creates plenty of well-constructed firefights, they lack the memorable nature of future installments in the franchise. Still, 'Mission: Impossible III' has aged well. The flick opens with Ethan Hunt having retired from the IMF team, but naturally, this doesn't last all that long, as he's drawn back into the world of espionage to bring down international arms broker Davian. There's a larger focus placed on Hunt's relationship with Julia (Michelle Monaghan), which adds even higher stakes as his wife gets caught up in the dangerous situation. Watch on Netflix now The movie that started it all, and while it's set to celebrate its 30th birthday next year, it remains a gripping watch. The events of the recent 'The Final Reckoning' have recontextualized some of the first 'Mission: Impossible', making now a great time to (re)watch. And while it's relatively quaint in comparison to some sequences that would follow, Hunt's mission to infiltrate the CIA headquarters at Langley remains a fantastic sequence that is still referenced and parodied in movies and shows to this day. That iconic scene, which sees Hunt dangling on a thin wire, with one wrong move sure to alert the authorities to his presence, may be the movie's enduring moment, but the opening, a mission in Prague gone wrong with disastrous consequences, shouldn't be overlooked either. Ultimately, this is the movie that introduced the world to Ethan Hunt, and its place in Hollywood history is secured for that reason alone. The fact that it's a seriously enjoyable watch in its own right is a bonus. Watch on Netflix now Unquestionably the most divisive 'Mission: Impossible,' the 2000s sequel saw director John Woo bring his trademark frenetic style to the series with somewhat mixed results. For those who just want explosive action above all else, you'll find enough to satisfy here, but the narrative is flawed, and the characters are significantly less compelling than future installments. Even Hunt himself seems to lack some of his usual gravitas. There's perhaps a reason that it's the sole entry in the franchise with a rotten score on review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes. This time, Hunt is attempting to locate and destroy a deadly virus known as Chimera, and that involves coming face-to-face with a rogue IMF agent who has stolen the only antidote. Even if it's the worst of the bunch, it's far from a complete disaster, with enough well-choreographed Woo action to hold your attention, just don't expect it to match up to the standard set by future installments in the long-running blockbuster franchise. Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning Worldwide Box Office Update: Tom Cruise's acioner crawls towards USD 610 million global finish

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, the eighth film in the action-packed franchise, landed in theaters on May 23, 2025. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, it stars Tom Cruise as IMF agent Ethan Hunt, alongside Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Angela Bassett among others. Let's analyse the global collections of the film so far, in detail. The Final Reckoning Has Grossed USD 562 Million As Of June 29, 2025 As of June 29, 2025, The Final Reckoning has earned USD 562 million globally. The U.S. market has contributed USD 186 million, with international territories adding USD 376 million. It kicked off with a franchise-best USD 200 million over the four day Memorial Day weekend, topping Mission: Impossible - Fallout's opening. The film also set a series record with a USD 127 million debut across global markets and pulled in USD 31 million from IMAX screenings alone. Despite a crowded box office, including competition from Lilo & Stitch's massive run, it showed resilience every week to come this far. The Final Reckoning Seems To Be Ending Its Global Run In USD 610 Million Range Looking ahead, the film is projected to finish its theatrical run between USD 600 million and USD 620 million worldwide. This would surpass Dead Reckoning Part One's USD 571 million but fall well below Fallout 's USD 791 million, the franchise's top earner. The Collections And Lifetime Global Expectations Of The Final Reckoning Are As Under The Budget Of The Final Reckoning Is Not Allowing The Movie To Be Seen As A Solid Theatrical Win Despite its solid box office, The Final Reckoning's estimated USD 300 million plus production budget poses a challenge. To break even, it needed to gross at least USD 800 million, a target it's unlikely to meet. With its current USD 562 million total, the film faces a theatrical shortfall of atleast USD 200 million. While future revenue from streaming platforms, TV deals, and home media sales may ease the financial strain, the theatrical run alone won't recover costs. Despite The Underperformance Vis-à-Vis Budget, The Final Reckoning's Collections Prove That Tom Cruise Still Sells The film's thrilling action and fan support haven't fully translated to the financial success Paramount anticipated, highlighting the risks of massive budgets in today's unpredictable market. Still, its global draw proves that Tom Cruise still sells. The Final Reckoning In Theatres

Tom Cruise's all time best movies ranked including 'breathtaking and moving' 80s classic

A full list of Tom Cruise's movies has been ranked from best to worst, according to their Rotten Tomatoes scores, with some surprise entries doing better than you might expect Tom Cruise, the quintessential '80s Hollywood heartthrob, has been dazzling audiences for decades, and now we've got the definitive list of his best and worst films. Rotten Tomatoes, the esteemed review aggregator, has crunched the numbers, using authentic critiques to sort through Cruise's extensive filmography. The rankings may throw up a few surprises, with some of Cruise's more obscure roles securing spots in the top 10, while others are expected entries thanks to widespread critical praise. ‌ Topping the charts as the actor's most celebrated work, according to viewer ratings, is the high-octane Mission: Impossible-Fallout. The 2018 blockbuster, which is the sixth instalment in the Mission: Impossible saga, has garnered an outstanding 98% rating, making it a clear fan favourite. ‌ One critic said: "Mission: Impossible - Fallout is hands down one of the best action movies I've seen in a while. The stunts are absolutely wild, and knowing Tom Cruise actually did them makes it even crazier." They added: "The pacing keeps you locked in from start to finish-there's never a dull moment. The story ties in nicely with the previous films but still stands strong on its own." Cruise's reputation for performing his own death-defying stunts has certainly paid off, influencing the high ranking of his stunt-laden features, with the recent hit Top Gun: Maverick soaring into second place in the 2022 charts. Unexpected entries have climbed the rankings out of 44 films, with the 2002 Steven Spielberg hit Minority Report making a notable appearance. It's closely tailed by Spielberg's 1988 classic Rain Man, which is just a whisker behind with an 88% rating, followed by The Color of Money in tenth place. ‌ Discussing Rain Man, the Mirror US reports that one film enthusiast remarked it is a "comedy that brings you to tears when the credits role". They added: "A breathtaking and moving film with such fantastic acting from both lead roles, with Tom Cruise showcasing that he can be more than a blockbuster protagonist who runs and jumps. It is a lost gem, and I hope it gains more attention as years go on." ‌ Languishing at the bottom of the pile, in 44th place with a mere 9% score, is the romantic comedy Cocktail. In this early Tom Cruise vehicle, he plays a New York bartender with grand ambitions that take him to Jamaica to open his own bar. The general view labels the film as rather "average," though some critics are more scathing. A review stated: "Yes, Tom Cruise has charisma. All that doesn't change the fact that this film isn't that good. Much like Cruise's character, Brian, this story drifts along without any real purpose." It continued: "And while the acting isn't terrible, the writing is watered down, and the characters are one-dimensional. It seems that the filmmakers didn't get the mix right when it comes to Cocktail." The Top 10 Rotten Tomatoes ranking Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018) Top Gun: Maverick (2022) Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023) Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015) Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011) Risky Business (1983) Edge of Tomorrow (2014) Minority Report (2002) Rain Man (1988) The Color of Money (1986)

The 8 Most Jaw-Dropping Stunts Performed By Tom Cruise In The Mission: Impossible Series

Jumping Between Biplanes - Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning I'm sorry, but I don't understand how Tom Cruise is still alive after all these years performing these death-defying stunts. With the climactic biplane chase scene in The Final Reckoning, Cruise and Company outdid themselves. Not only is Cruise hanging off a flying plane, but he must jump onto another flying one and get into the cockpit. Pure insanity, and we loved every minute of it. Piloting and Falling Out of a Helicopter - Mission: Impossible - Fallout By the end of Fallout, Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt should be out of breath. After all, the audience certainly is! Yet, here he is, climbing up to a mobile helicopter, flying it, and falling out of it in a thrilling chase sequence. This action setpiece was practically a victory lap for the M:I team in their most daring mission to date. Free-Fall Motorcycle Jump - Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Although Dead Reckoning was relatively light on bonkers stunts, it slowly built up to one of the most harrowing set pieces in the franchise's history. In one of the most meticulously crafted stunts, one error could've derailed everything and potentially harmed Cruise's life. But of course, the star successfully vaulted from a moving motorcycle off a ledge. Even more impressive than the execution of the stunt is the breathtaking photography capturing Cruise's audaciousness. Burj Khalifa - Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol Anyone who experienced the IMAX aspect ratio shift when Tom Cruise steps out onto the ledge inside the Burj Khalifa in Ghost Protocol is truly blessed. More reliant on sweat-inducing thrills than visceral action (while also providing an unexpected amount of laughs), you feel like Cruise will plummet to the earth's crust at any moment. The actor and the filmmakers behind M:I never make it easy on themselves. Only they would think to perform a free-solo climb on one of the tallest buildings in the world. Underwater Submarine Dive - Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning In a shocking change of pace for the series, The Final Reckoning's first major set piece features no dialogue or score. The audience is forced to sit with Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt as he submerges into the deep sea and searches through the ruins of a submarine. It's eerily claustrophobic and moody, and being a world-class super-spy never seemed so scary. HALO Jump - Mission: Impossible - Fallout Fallout gets to an incredibly fast start, and by the time Tom Cruise is performing a real HALO jump from an aircraft, moving through the clouds at breakneck speed, the film is officially shot out of a canon. It's almost amusing how much Cruise is willing to go to entertain us and push the boundaries for stunt performance in movies. Hanging Off the Side of a Plane - Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation In a bold storytelling decision, Rogue Nation uses his signature stunt in the cold open, and what a way to grab the audience's attention. You can see it in his face--Tom Cruise is holding on for dear life as a plane takes off at full speed. It may not factor into the main plot of the film, but it captures the essence of M:I to a tee. Free Solo Climb - Mission: Impossible II Mission: Impossible II is known for its dazzling style that doesn't always amount to substance. This impressive, while now relatively rudimentary stunt, speaks to the gaudy nature of the series' second entry. Tom Cruise is in pure movie star mode as he does a free-solo climb on a mountain. The minimalism of the stunt enhances the maximalism of the film's larger-than-life movie star, who hasn't lost a beat twenty years later.
