Tom Cruise 'has been a mentor for Ana de Armas'

Perth Now6 days ago
Tom Cruise has been an "incredible mentor" to Ana de Armas.
The 63-year-old actor and Ana, 37, have a "special work relationship" and the actress has "prepped" all summer for their first project together - a supernatural ocean thriller called Deeper.
A source told People: "Tom is crazy hardworking and she's very excited to work with him. She calls it an opportunity of a lifetime."
Tom and Ana have been romantically linked to each other over recent months. However, an insider has insisted that their relationship is "not romantic" and that they are simply friends and work partners.
The source shared: "Tom is an incredible mentor to Ana. She has nothing but amazing things to say about him."
Tom is still one of Hollywood's most bankable stars, and he's never lost his passion for filmmaking.
The actor recently admitted that he's fulfilling a "life-long dream" by working in the movie business.
He told Extra: "It's such a privilege to do what I do.
"It's been a life-long dream of mine to be able to do this and to make movies ... I truly, I love it. That is my, I don't know, it's not what I do, it's who I am.
"It is my honour to entertain."
Tom is willing to put his body on the line in order to make the best movies possible.
The actor - who has suffered various injuries during his career, including a broken ankle while shooting 2018's Mission: Impossible - Fallout - explained: "I fly aerobatic airplanes, I fly jets, I fly helicopters, and this took all of our ability and all of our skill to be able find the camera angles to tell this story."
Tom needed to be in tip-top physical shape to shoot the Mission: Impossible movies, and he felt particularly proud of the action scenes in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.
He said: "Physically, what I had to do to prepare for this thing was quite extreme, and I can tell you this - whatever people see in the trailer or on TV, it is not even a taste of what they have in store for them when they see this film."

Jason Momoa insists his actor son isn't a nepo baby

Jason Momoa insists his actor son isn't a nepo baby. The Aquaman star's 16-year-old son Nakoa-Wolf Momoa has landed a key role in Dune: Part Three, but his famous father says the teenager got the part without any help from him. Jason told Extra: 'He's into the workforce for the first time. It's going to be good. 'He did it on his own. I don't want to help him, and he's done it all on his own, and good for him.' Nakoa-Wolf, the son of Jason Momoa and 56-year-old actor Lisa Bonet, has been cast in Denis Villeneuve's third Dune instalment alongside Silo star Ida Brooke, 17. The two young actors will portray the twin children of Paul Atreides (played by 29-year-old Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (27-year-old Zendaya.) The film, which follows the events of Frank Herbert's second novel, Dune Messiah, continues the story of Paul Atreides as he becomes emperor. Jason, 45, originally played Duncan Idaho in Villeneuve's 2021 Dune film but did not appear in Dune: Part Two, which was released in 2024. He is confirmed to return in the third instalment, though details about his character's reappearance remain unclear. In the original book series, Duncan is resurrected as a clone – known as a ghola – following his death. Jason added to Extra about Nakoa-Wolf's achievement: 'You want your children to be better than you, and I really, actually believe he is. I couldn't do what he's doing at his age. 'There's no way I could sit in a room with Denis Villeneuve and hold my own. I was on Baywatch at 19. He's 16 and holding shit down with Denis Villeneuve. 'We raised him beautiful. We raised our children… it's just, you know, being loved and being confident in themselves… that is what he is. He's very confident.' The actor was speaking at the premiere in Hawaii of the Chief of War, at which he appeared alongside Nakoa-Wolf and his daughter, 17-year-old Lola Iolani. The historical drama series, which explores the unification of the Hawaiian Islands in the 18th century, marks one of Jason's major projects outside the Dune franchise. In Dune, Jason's Duncan Idaho character was the loyal swordmaster and mentor to Paul Atreides. His character was killed near the film's climax while defending Paul and Lady Jessica (portrayed by 56-year-old Rebecca Ferguson) from Sardaukar forces.

'I'm worried about Sharon...' Carmen Electra shares tearful reaction to Ozzy Osbourne's death

Carmen Electra burst into tears when she heard the news that Ozzy Osbourne had died and her "heart goes out" to his widow Sharon Osbourne. The former Baywatch actress remembers Ozzy - who passed away at the age of 76 on Tuesday (22.07.25) - as the "sweetest, most fun person ever" and she admits she is worried about how Sharon, 72, will cope without the man she was married to for 43 years. Speaking to Extra's Terri Seymour at the Freakier Friday premiere, Carmen - who is a friend of the Osbourne family - said: "I heard in the car and I just started bawling my eyes out because Ozzy, I mean, when you know Ozzy, he's so funny. He's such a flirt. Like, he's just Ozzy, you know? ... Outside of being, like, the scary legendary rock god he is, he truly is like just the sweetest, most fun person ever. "And I'm worried about [his wife] Sharon to be honest because they've been bonded together for so long and I'm really close with the family. My heart goes out to Sharon and the family and at least they were all there. They could all be there in London.' Carmen, 53, is yet to reach out personally to her friend Sharon but has sent a message of condolence through makeup artist Jude Alcalá. She added: "I haven't spoken to anyone yet. Yeah. It felt weird calling right now. I just decided to step back.' 'So, Jude's been he's been doing Sharon and Ozzy for over 25 years. So, we were on the phone and I was just like, 'Please send them my love.'' Since the news of Ozzy's death, musicians from the heavy metal fraternity, celebrities, media and fans have shown an outpouring of love and respect for the Bark At The Moon singer. Ozzy died just 17 days after he performed the Back To The Beginning farewell concert in his home city of Birmingham, England, with his Black Sabbath bandmates. The concert featured a bill that included metal legends such as Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Tool, Pantera and Slayer. Ozzy had been living with Parkinson's disease for many years and had other health issues and Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi believes his long-time friend held on so he could perform one final time for his fans. Tony, 77, told ITV News: "I think he really just held out to do that show. I really feel – and me and Geezer (Butler) were talking about it – that we think he held out to do it, and just after that, he's done it and said goodbye to the fans. And that was the end of it, really. "I think he must have had something in his head that said, 'Well, this is gonna be it, the last thing I'm ever gonna do.' Whether he thought he was gonna die or what, I don't know. But he really wanted to do it, and he was determined to do it. And fair dues, he's done it." Despite Ozzy's fragile health, Tony admits that the death of his bandmate still came as a "shock for us". He added: "When I heard, it couldn't sink in. I thought, 'It can't be.' I only had a text from him the day before. It just seemed unreal, surreal. And in the night, I started thinking about it, 'God, am I dreaming all this?' But as I said before, he's not looked well through the rehearsals." Tony also reflected on a conversation he and Ozzy had in the dressing room following the Back To The Beginning show at Villa Park. He said: "He came around before he was leaving on a wheelchair that brought him in to say goodbye and have a little chat for a bit, and he seemed alright. He enjoyed it. And he said, 'Oh, it went all right, didn't it?' I said, 'Yeah, it did.'"

Jimmy Kimmel lays down challenge for Donald Trump

Jimmy Kimmel has challenged Donald Trump to appear on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? The 57-year-old talk show host will be back at the helm of the new series as a new batch of famous faces compete to earn money for their chosen charity, and he has a scathing reason for wanting the President of the United States in the hotseat. Asked for his dream contestant, Jimmy told Extra: "Boy, wound't it be fun to put Donald Trump in that hot seat, see how much that genius knows? "I would say, 'Please, have a seat. I would love to — you know what? Any time you spend on a game show is another hour you're not being president, so I'm in support of that.' " Kimmel admitted he has a lot of respect for any celebrity who does take part. He added: "I admire anybody that does sit down and come on the show because they're really risking their reputation.' Kimmel's comments about Trump come after the US President claimed he and Jimmy Fallon could be "next" to have their shows cancelled after news that the Late Show with Stephen Colbert will end in May 2026. Trump wrote on his own Truth Social platform: 'The word is, and it's a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes and, shortly thereafter, Fallon will be gone. 'These are people with absolutely NO TALENT, who were paid Millions of Dollars for, in all cases, destroying what used to be GREAT Television. "It's really good to see them go, and I hope I played a major part in it! (sic)" In response, Kimmel posted on Instagram: "I'm hearing you're next. Or maybe it's just another wonderful secret." His contract for Jimmy Kimmel Live! - which airs on ABC - is set to expire in 2026. Meanwhile, Colbert has questioned CBS' statement claiming the decision to end the show was a "purely a financial decision" move. He asked: "How could it be purely be a financial decision if The Late Show is No. 1 in ratings?' The announcement his show was ending came after the network's parent company Paramount Global settled a $16 million lawsuit with Trump after he alleged Kamala Harris' 60 Minutes interview was deceptively edited. On his show, following the settlement, Colbert described the move as a "big, fat bribe" as Paramount awaits FDA approval for its merger with Skydance.
