Parts of Zululand region remain without electricity
Parts of Zululand region remain without electricity Following Tuesday's severe weather across KZN, which led to a widespread power outage, Eskom technicians continue to work diligently to repair the damage. According to Eskom's KZN industry support and stakeholder management Stefanie Jansen van Rensburg, while some areas have been restored, the persistent weather conditions, as well as the extent of the damage coupled with access challenges, have hampered restoration efforts. Outstanding areas being attended to in the Zululand region include Empangeni, Melmoth, Mtubatuba, Ulundi, Hluhluwe, Jozini, Nongoma and eShowe. Severe weather causes widespread power outages across KZN
Following a bout of severe weather, which brought heavy rainfall, strong winds and snowfall to KZN, Eskom has reported multiple power outages across the province. The power utility's KZN industry support and stakeholder management Zethu Sonjica said 'significant disruptions' have been caused to the electricity supply in several regions. ALSO READ: WATCH: N2 snow closure in Kokstad, hail in Jozini and Hluhluwe Affected areas include Empangeni, Melmoth, Mtubatuba, Ulundi, Hluhluwe, Jozini, Nongoma and eShowe in the Zululand region, as well as other areas across KZN. Restoration efforts under way 'Eskom has deployed technical teams to attend to faults in accessible areas. However, the utility notes that many roads remain closed due to flooding and snow, making access to some affected zones impossible at this time. Technicians remain on standby and will attend to these areas as soon as they become reachable,' said Sonjica. Residents are urged to stay clear of fallen cables, damaged poles or any exposed wiring, and to report such hazards immediately to local authorities or via Eskom's reporting channels,' said Sonjica. Storm havoc in KZN: Eskom responds to multiple power outages
Heavy rain and severe lightning storms experienced in parts of KZN last night (Thursday) resulted in multiple network faults and interruption to electricity supply. According to Eskom's industry support and stakeholder management, Joyce Zingoni, restoration efforts are under way as the power utility's technical teams worked through the night to restore supply to most customers. ALSO READ: Suspects nabbed with R1.5m worth of stolen Eskom property Fault-finding and repairs are still in progress. Affected areas include Mtubatuba, Hluhluwe, Jozini, Manguzi and Pongola. 'Eskom appeals for patience from our customers, as some areas are inaccessible due to infrastructure damage. We assure you that every effort is being made to restore power safely and efficiently,' said Zingoni.
