Gulzar House fire victims' family allege delayed response by Fire Department, Hospital
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 31 (ANI): Family members of the 17 victims who lost their lives in the Gulzar House fire have demanded a formal inquiry into the incident, alleging lapses by both the fire department and hospital authorities. Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Santosh Gupta, a relative of one of the deceased, accused the fire department of not responding promptly to the emergency and claimed that fire personnel were not equipped with adequate apparatus to handle the situation. Another family member, Nitish Gupta, alleged that medical assistance at the hospital was also delayed. 'There was no paramedical staff in the ambulance. All the casualties occurred due to suffocation,' the family members said, expressing deep frustration over the response from emergency services. The family members demanded justice from the High Court and requested an investigation into the matter. 'I want justice from the High Court, and I want a judicial committee to see what is right and what is wrong,' Santosh Gupta said. Meanwhile, the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of May 18, when a massive fire broke out in a building in the Gulzar House area, near Charminar in the old city of Hyderabad. At least 17 people, including eight children, were killed in the blaze. An ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakhs has been announced by the state government for the families of the victims who lost their lives in the fire incident at Gulzar House. Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the families of the victims. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh for each kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to those injured in the mishap, from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF). On May 20, the Telangana government constituted a six-member high-level committee to investigate the recent fire incident at Gulzar House near Charminar. (ANI)

Fire Mainly Located At Back Of Building: Eyewitness Describes Hyderabad Fire Tragedy
An eyewitness to the fire that broke out at a building at Gulzar House in Hyderabad early Sunday morning, in which 17 people, including eight children, were killed, said that the blaze was mainly located in the back of the building. The eyewitness Zahid also detailed the efforts of local people to save the people stuck in the building. "We could not enter the building through the main gate as it was engulfed in flames, so we broke the shutter to go inside. Then five to six of us broke through a wall and entered the first floor. But the whole place was completely engulfed in flames. The police and fire tenders did good work and cooperated fully. But we could not save the people because of the massive fire," he said. "The fire was mainly located at the back of the house, and there was no back door to get to that... All the deceased were part of the same family... Yes, the fire tenders were a bit late, but the fire was too massive to enter the first floor," he added. A fire department official said today that a preliminary examination of the blaze indicated that a short circuit caused the massive blaze. The cause of death of all the 17 people was smoke inhalation, "nobody had burn injuries," Telangana Disaster Response and Fire Services DG Y Nagi Reddy said. The list of the 17 deceased released by the Telangana Fire Disaster Response Emergency and Civil Defence includes the names of eight children under the age of youngest in the list was identified as one Prathan (1.5 years old). The seven other children have been identified as Hamey (7), Priyansh (4), Iraaj (2), Arushi (3), Rishabh (4), Anuyan (3) and Iddu (4). Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was "deeply anguished" by the loss of lives in the fire and announced an ex gratia, of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 50,000 to those injured in the mishap, from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund to the kin of the deceased as per the Prime Minister's Office.

Telangana Deputy CM announces Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia for Gulzar Houz fire victims' families
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 18 (ANI): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Sunday announced a Rs 5 lakh ex gratia for the families of the victims who lost their lives in the fire incident at Gulzar Houz near Charminar in Hyderabad. The fire claimed 17 lives, and the state government is providing support to the affected families. The Prime Minister has also announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh for each deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF). Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu said the fire may have been caused by a short circuit or a gas cylinder blast. He added that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is closely monitoring the situation. Speaking to reporters, Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu said, 'As per the preliminary information available, the fire may have been caused by a short circuit. The fire department received the information at 6.16 am and they reached the spot at 6:20 am with staff, equipment, and robots. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expresses grief on loss of lives due to fire at building at Hyderabad's Gulzar House
New Delhi [India], May 18 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said he was 'deeply anguished' by the loss of lives in the fire at a building at Hyderabad's Gulzar House early this morning. According to fire department sources, 17 people died in the fire that broke out in a building at the Gulzar House near Charminar in Hyderabad early this morning. The PM also announced an ex gratia, of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 50,000 to those injured in the mishap, from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund to the kin of the deceased as per the Prime Minister's Office. In a post on X, the Prime Minister's Office wrote, 'Deeply anguished by the loss of lives due to a fire tragedy in Hyderabad, Telangana. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. An ex gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000.' A total of 11 fire engines were dispatched to the spot to bring the blaze under control. Union Minister and state BJP chief G Kishan Reddy and Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar reached Gulzar House near Charminar. Charminar MLA Mir Zulfeqar Ali was also present at the spot. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) President KT Rama Rao also expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. In a post on X, Rao wrote that the BRS team would be available for any help. 'Extremely shocked and pained!! Details emerging out of Gulzar House fire tragedy in Old City are very sad. My heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of the tragedy. Wishing a speedy recovery to those injured. Hoping and praying that this fire will be contained very soon. BRS team will be available for anything that you may need,' the post read. Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar says, 'The fire broke out around 6 am and by 6:16 am the fire department of the Telangana government was present at the spot. They tried to save everyone. But the fire had spread massively... The majority of the people inside the building have died. The Chief Minister has spoken to the family (who were living in the building that caught fire). The state government will fully support the family. We will conduct a thorough review to ensure fire safety and avoid any such incidents in the future.
