Trump to hold presser after ordering homeless to leave Washington DC as federal takeover threat looms
President Donald Trump has announced he will be holding a press conference at 10am ET (3pm GMT) on Monday morning to address what he says is the 'out of control' state of violent crime in Washington, DC. But surprisingly, the claim made by the President is not supported by the official figures. The nation's capital city 'has become one of the most dangerous cities anywhere in the World,' Trump wrote on Truth Social over the weekend, pledging: 'It will soon be one of the safest!!!' Live Events Trump in a series of social media posts said he would discuss stopping violent crime in Washington, which he described as "one of the most dangerous cities anywhere in the World." Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has a shocking answer to Akshay Kumar's biggest AI question: ‘What's the one thing AI can't copy from humans'
Jensen Huang answers Akshay Kumar's biggest AI question In a widely discussed and highly engaging moment at the Nvidia AI Summit 2024 in Mumbai, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar surprised the audience by putting Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang on the spot with what he termed the 'biggest AI question' by asking what artificial intelligence could never copy from humans. Their exchange, which unfolded in front of a packed venue of technologists, entrepreneurs, creators, and media representatives, touched on deep topics such as the future of work, global safety, and the irreplaceable qualities of human creativity and judgment. The moment drew applause, sparked laughter, and went viral online, trending across India's technology, business, and entertainment circles. Jensen Huang on AI as a partner, not a replacement Jensen Huang made clear that, although AI is a transformative technology used across many industries, it currently cannot perform any job in its entirety without human involvement. He highlighted that AI is most powerful as an augmentation tool, capable of automating approximately 20 to 50 percent of repetitive or data-intensive tasks. However, humans remain essential for aspects such as creative thinking, moral judgment, and emotional intelligence. Huang gave examples from healthcare, engineering, and film production, noting that AI can increase the speed of processes like diagnostics or rendering, but still depends on human oversight for decisions and final outcomes. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This new air conditioner cools down a room in just seconds News of the Discovery Undo He emphasised that the greatest risk is not AI itself directly replacing people, but workers who master AI tools gaining competitive advantage over those who do not. This sentiment, punctuated by Huang's statement, "It's not AI replacing you; it's someone using AI replacing you," drew a strong response from the audience. Building AI with safety and trust When asked whether AI could ever be made completely safe for humanity, Huang compared the challenge to building a safe airplane. Safety, he explained, depends on designing redundant systems, drawing from diverse engineering perspectives, and conducting thorough testing before deployment. Huang stressed the importance of explainable AI, strong ethical design principles, and industry-wide transparency to earn and maintain public trust. He also mentioned active collaborations with research institutions and international regulators to embed safety measures and protocols into all AI development at Nvidia. These efforts are designed to protect against bias, misuse, and unpredictable outcomes, which remain challenges the field is continuing to face. Can VitaminB12 deficiency cause nerve damage? Here's what you need to know
Vitamin B12 plays a vital role in maintaining the health of the nervous system, including the brain, nerves, and spinal cord. A deficiency in this essential nutrient can lead to a range of neurological symptoms, such as tingling, numbness, poor coordination, memory loss, and mood changes. If left untreated, prolonged vitamin B12 deficiency may result in irreversible nerve damage. This is particularly concerning as neurological symptoms can appear before signs of anaemia. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to prevent long-term complications. Regular monitoring and a balanced diet or supplementation can help maintain healthy B12 levels and protect nerve health. What is Vitamin B12: Signs of deficiency that affects nerve health Vitamin B12 (also known as cobalamin) helps produce red blood cells, supports DNA synthesis, and plays a key role in maintaining healthy nerve cells. It's naturally found in animal-based foods such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy. People following plant-based diets, or those with medical conditions affecting absorption, are most at risk of developing a deficiency. Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to neurological symptoms even before blood levels drop enough to cause anaemia. Common nerve-related signs include: Tingling or numbness in the hands, feet, or legs Balance issues or frequent falls Weakness in muscles Memory loss or difficulty concentrating Mood changes, including depression or irritability Burning sensations in extremities Coordination problems while walking These symptoms may begin subtly but can worsen over time, especially if not addressed early. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This new air conditioner cools down a room in just seconds News of the Discovery Undo How low Vitamin B12 causes nerve damage Vitamin B12 is vital for the production of myelin – the protective coating around nerves. When B12 is deficient, myelin begins to break down, exposing nerves to damage. This can disrupt communication between the brain and the rest of the body, resulting in symptoms like numbness, weakness, and cognitive issues. In severe cases, B12 deficiency can lead to subacute combined degeneration of the spinal cord, a serious neurological condition that may cause: Stiffness in the limbs Poor coordination Difficulty walking Loss of vibration or position sense If untreated, some of this nerve damage may become permanent. Who is at risk of Vitamin B12 deficiency Vitamin B12 deficiency can affect anyone, but some groups are more vulnerable: Older adults (reduced absorption with age) Vegans and vegetarians (plant foods lack natural B12) People with gastrointestinal conditions, such as Crohn's disease or coeliac disease Those taking certain medications, like metformin or proton pump inhibitors Patients who have had bariatric or stomach surgery Treatment options for VitaminB12 deficiency typically includes: Vitamin B12 injections for severe deficiency or poor absorption Oral B12 supplements for mild cases Dietary changes to include B12-rich or fortified foods Improvements may take weeks or months depending on how long the deficiency has been present. When to see a doctor If you experience symptoms like persistent numbness, tingling, balance issues, or mental fog, speak to your GP. A simple blood test can check your B12 levels. Your doctor may also test homocysteine or methylmalonic acid (MMA) if results are borderline. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential to prevent long-term nerve damage. Frequently Asked Questions Q1. Can nerve damage from low B12 be reversed? Yes, but only if caught early. Many symptoms, including fatigue, tingling, and memory issues, often improve with treatment. However, long-term deficiency can lead to irreversible nerve damage, especially in older adults. Q2. Is nerve damage from low vitamin B12 permanent? Nerve damage may be reversible if treated early, but long-term deficiency can cause permanent damage. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential. Regarding team selection for the decisive third match, Rizwan remained noncommittal. "Honestly, the weather forecast has been completely different from expectations, and it is hard to read. Arms licences to indigenous people will only be given after proper evaluation: Himanta
Amid criticism over the Assam government 's decision to provide arms licence to indigenous people , Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said it will only be given after "proper evaluation". Speaking to reporters, Sarma said land rights also needed to be ensured for the indigenous people, along with arms licences . If you don't have a gun, how will you stay in South Salmara-Mankachar and Bagbar? If you go there, you will understand," he said on the sidelines of a programme in Baksa, when asked about the criticism over the "lenient" arms licence policy. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like With temperatures hitting 95°F, this is the mini air conditioner everyone's buying in the U.S News of the Discovery "There are 20,000-25,000 people surrounding it, and 100 people are staying in a 'Satra' (Vaishnavite seat of learning) amid them. They will need something," he claimed. Sarma maintained that gun licences will be provided only after due evaluation and verification. Live Events "Guns are needed, land is needed, rights are needed. But everything has to be within the purview of the law, not outside it," he added. The state cabinet had on May 28 decided that the government would give arms licences to indigenous people living in "vulnerable and remote" areas for instilling a sense of security in them. Sarma had identified Dhubri, Morigaon, Barpeta, Nagaon and South Salmara-Mankachar districts, and localities like Rupahi, Dhing and Jonia as "vulnerable and remote". All these areas are largely dominated by Bengali-speaking Muslims. The opposition claims that the decision is aimed at polarising the people, and has the potential to jeopardise the state's hard-won peace. Asked about possible eviction drives in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), where Baksa is located, Sarma said there is no proposal at the moment as indigenous people of the area are yet to get their land ownership documents. "Eviction drives were started in the rest of the state only after land rights were settled under 'Mission Basundhara'. In BTR, first indigenous and rightful residents have to get the 'patta'. After that, we can go for eviction," he said. Claiming that the situation was as "grave in BTR as in the rest of Assam", Sarma said, "Every time I am here, I see that the vote of a certain community is increasing. And if it continues to happen, the Bodos and other people of BTR who have sacrificed for this land will not have the political power in their hands." Dismissing criticism against the eviction drives, he said, "Miya Muslims have gone to upper Assam, north Assam, to change the demography of the state. We will have to take legal steps against them, evict them as per the law. I am not bothered who says what about it." 'Miya' is originally a pejorative term used for Bengali-speaking Muslims in Assam, and the non-Bengali speaking people generally identify them as Bangladeshi immigrants. In recent years, activists from the community have started adopting this term as a gesture of defiance. PTI
