Two friends killed in Temerloh crash were hours from Kelantan trip
TEMERLOH: The two friends who were killed when a car crashed into their motorcycle here yesterday were supposed to leave for a holiday in Kelantan today. Aneez Irdiena Sofya Khairul Azman and Nur Irdina Shaffiya Muhammad Nazri, both 19, were to leave for a Kelantan holiday today. Aneez Irdiena's mother, Siti Asmak Wan Abdul Qadir, 40, said her eldest daughter was excited when she returned from work yesterday before heading out with Nur Irdina Shaffiya. "They have been close friends since their school days at SMK Temerloh and were working part time at a supermarket. "They were supposed to return home after dinner and then leave on the 3am train to Dabong," she said when met at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital today. Siti Asmak said Aneez Irdiena was set to enrol in a diploma programme in Sports Management at Kolej Poly-Tech Mara in Kuantan on June 26. "She was active in outdoor activities and sports. "After her SPM, she volunteered with Yayasan Pelajaran Mara. "When she received her offer letter to further her studies, Aneez Irdiena began preparing. She'd bought files and books for her studies." Meanwhile, Aneez Irdiena's stepfather, Muhammad Syahrul Syam Saleh, 42, said she acted oddly — no hugs, just a wave — before going for dinner. In the 11pm crash, Aneez Irdiena and Nur Irdina died at the scene after a Perodua Bezza crashed into their Yamaha Ego Avantiz motorcycle at a traffic light junction. The driver was arrested after drugs were found in his car. Meanwhile, Nur Irdina Shaffiya's mother, Yusnani Mohamad Yusof, 46, said she was heartbroken that her daughter never got to enjoy her favourite dish: ikan patin (silver catfish). She said her daughter had been working as a sales promoter in Temerloh while waiting to further her studies. Aneez was buried at the Felda Bukit Damar Muslim burial ground, while Nur Irdina was buried in Kampung Tualang, Temerloh.

Mowed down at red light: Teen girls killed in Temerloh, drugs found in driver's car
KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 — Two teenage girls were killed after their motorcycle was rammed by a car while they were stopped at a traffic light at Jalan Tengku Ismail in Temerloh last night. Temerloh district police chief ACP Mazlan Hassan said the incident, which occurred at around 11pm, claimed the lives of 18-year-old Yamaha Ego Avantiz rider Nur Irdina Shaffiya Muhammad Nazri and her pillion rider, Aneez Irdiena Sofya Khairul Azman, national news agency Bernama reported today. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. 'Initial investigations indicate the girls were travelling from Mentakab towards the Bukit Angin roundabout. While stopped at a red light, a Perodua Bezza, believed to have failed to slow down, crashed into the rear of their motorcycle,' he said in a statement today. Mazlan added that the bodies were taken to Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah for post-mortem examinations this morning. Separately, a search of the car led to the discovery of plastic packets suspected to contain syabu and heroin, with an estimated street value of over RM6,000. The 38-year-old driver, who is from Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, has been detained for further investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
