TEMERLOH: The two friends who were killed when a car crashed into their motorcycle here yesterday were supposed to leave for a holiday in Kelantan today.
Aneez Irdiena Sofya Khairul Azman and Nur Irdina Shaffiya Muhammad Nazri, both 19, were to leave for a Kelantan holiday today.
Aneez Irdiena's mother, Siti Asmak Wan Abdul Qadir, 40, said her eldest daughter was excited when she returned from work yesterday before heading out with Nur Irdina Shaffiya.
"They have been close friends since their school days at SMK Temerloh and were working part time at a supermarket.
"They were supposed to return home after dinner and then leave on the 3am train to Dabong," she said when met at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital today.
Siti Asmak said Aneez Irdiena was set to enrol in a diploma programme in Sports Management at Kolej Poly-Tech Mara in Kuantan on June 26.

In the 11pm crash, Aneez Irdiena and Nur Irdina died at the scene after a Perodua Bezza crashed into their Yamaha Ego Avantiz motorcycle at a traffic light junction.
The driver was arrested after drugs were found in his car.
Meanwhile, Nur Irdina Shaffiya's mother, Yusnani Mohamad Yusof, 46, said she was heartbroken that her daughter never got to enjoy her favourite dish: ikan patin (silver catfish).
She said her daughter had been working as a sales promoter in Temerloh while waiting to further her studies.

Brake failure suspected in viral lorry crash [WATCH]
KUANTAN: A lorry crashed into a car at a traffic light junction near Jalan Gambang yesterday, after a suspected brake failure. The 34-year-old Perodua Bezza driver was injured in the incident, which occurred at 8.10am. "Preliminary investigations revealed that the lorry was travelling from Ipoh towards Pekan, while the car was coming from Taman Tas heading towards Air Putih," said Kuantan police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu. "Upon reaching the junction, the lorry driver claimed the brakes suddenly failed, preventing him from stopping when the traffic light turned yellow. "At the same time, the car, driven by a man, moved into the intersection and was hit by the lorry, causing it to overturn," he said in a statement. Zahari said the car driver sustained bruises on various parts of his body and received treatment at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital. The 55-year-old lorry driver was unharmed. The case is being investigated under Rule 17 of the Road Traffic Rules, which relates to a driver's position and vehicle control. A violation of Rule 17 carries a jail term of up to six months, a maximum fine of RM2,000, or both. Earlier, a 33-second clip of the accident went viral.
