Two teens killed after motorcycle hit by car
KUANTAN: Two teenage girls were killed after the motorcycle they were on was hit by a car at a traffic light junction on Jalan Tengku Ismail, Temerloh, last night. Temerloh district police chief ACP Mazlan Hassan said the rider of the Yamaha Ego Avantiz motorcycle, Nur Irdina Shaffiya Muhammad Nazri, and the pillion rider, Aneez Irdiena Sofya Khairul Azman, both aged 18, died on the spot in the accident, which happened at about 11 pm. Mazlan said an inspection of the car involved in the crash uncovered plastic packets suspected to contain syabu and heroin, estimated to be worth over RM6,000. He said the 38-year-old driver, who is from Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, has been detained for further investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. 'Preliminary investigations found that the two were travelling in the direction of Mentakab towards the Bukit Angin roundabout. 'When they stopped at a red light, a Perodua Bezza is believed to have rammed into the back of their motorcycle,' he said in a statement today. He said their bodies had been taken to Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh for a post-mortem.

Friends killed in Temerloh traffic light collision
TEMERLOH: A night out turned tragic when two friends were killed after a car hit their motorcycle while stopped at a traffic light on Jalan Tengku Ismail on Wednesday (June 12). The incident which occurred at about 11pm involved rider Nur Irdina Shaffiya Muhammad Nazri, 18, and pillion passenger Aneez Irdiena Sofya Khairul Azman, 18, who were pronounced dead at the scene. Temerloh District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mazlan Hassan said the vehicles involved were a Yamaha Ego Avantiz motorcycle and a Perodua Bezza car. Initial investigations revealed both vehicles were heading from Mentakab towards the Bukit Angin roundabout. "When they arrived at the scene, the motorcycle had stopped for the red light, while the car did not stop and hit the back of the motorcycle. "As a result of the accident, both victims died at the scene, while the 38-year-old male car driver was uninjured," he said in a media statement on Thursday. Both victims were sent to Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital Temerloh, for post-mortem examinations, and the car driver was remanded on Thursday. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving causing death. Further inspection of the car found several transparent plastic packets suspected to contain methamphetamine and heroin in the rear left seat area. "One transparent plastic packet contained powder and crystal lumps suspected to be methamphetamine weighing approximately 50.85 grams. "Also found were two transparent plastic packets containing brown powder and lumps suspected to be heroin weighing 0.85 grams," he said. An initial urine screening of the driver returned a negative result. The total estimated value of the seized drugs is RM6,110, and RM500 in cash was also confiscated. "The driver is also being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 following the discovery of drugs in the vehicle," he said, noting that the suspect has no prior criminal record.

Two teenagers killed in crash involving car found with drugs in Temerloh
TEMERLOH: Two teenagers were killed yesterday after the motorcycle they were riding was rammed by a car, which was later found to be carrying drugs. In the 11pm incident, Nur Irdina Shaffiya Muhammad Nazri and her pillion rider, Aneez Irdiena Sofya Khairul Azman, both 18, died on the spot at a traffic light junction along Jalan Tengku Ismail here. District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mazlan Hassan said the 38-year-old driver of a Perodua Bezza, from Kuala Lumpur, who crashed into the teenagers, escaped unhurt. "The motorcycle and the Bezza were both travelling from Mentakab towards the Bukit Angin roundabout in Temerloh. "Nur Irdina had stopped her Yamaha Ego Avantiz motorcycle at the traffic light when the Bezza rammed into them, killing both victims instantly," he said in a statement today. He said that during an inspection of the vehicle at the Temerloh district police headquarters around 12.30am, police found two packets containing a crystalline substance believed to be syabu, weighing 50.85g, and heroin weighing 0.85g, with a total estimated value of RM6,100 in the rear seat. Mazlan said the driver tested negative for drugs but is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction. He is expected to be remanded today. The bodies of both victims have been sent to Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital for post-mortem.
