
Friends killed in Temerloh traffic light collision
The incident which occurred at about 11pm involved rider Nur Irdina Shaffiya Muhammad Nazri, 18, and pillion passenger Aneez Irdiena Sofya Khairul Azman, 18, who were pronounced dead at the scene.
Temerloh District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mazlan Hassan said the vehicles involved were a Yamaha Ego Avantiz motorcycle and a Perodua Bezza car.
Initial investigations revealed both vehicles were heading from Mentakab towards the Bukit Angin roundabout.
"When they arrived at the scene, the motorcycle had stopped for the red light, while the car did not stop and hit the back of the motorcycle.
"As a result of the accident, both victims died at the scene, while the 38-year-old male car driver was uninjured," he said in a media statement on Thursday.
Both victims were sent to Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital Temerloh, for post-mortem examinations, and the car driver was remanded on Thursday.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving causing death.
Further inspection of the car found several transparent plastic packets suspected to contain methamphetamine and heroin in the rear left seat area.
"One transparent plastic packet contained powder and crystal lumps suspected to be methamphetamine weighing approximately 50.85 grams.
"Also found were two transparent plastic packets containing brown powder and lumps suspected to be heroin weighing 0.85 grams," he said.
An initial urine screening of the driver returned a negative result.
The total estimated value of the seized drugs is RM6,110, and RM500 in cash was also confiscated.
"The driver is also being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 following the discovery of drugs in the vehicle," he said, noting that the suspect has no prior criminal record.

She then exited her car brandishing a knife and attacked people at the scene. The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder, Section 279 for reckless driving, and Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Police detain foreign woman for reckless driving, injuring six in Kajang
KUALA LUMPUR — Police have arrested a foreign woman suspected of reckless driving after she allegedly hit three motorcycles and assaulted members of the public at a traffic light junction near a shopping mall in Kajang yesterday. Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the report of the incident was received at 11.58 am and initial investigations revealed that the 24-year-old woman had been driving dangerously before exiting her vehicle and attacking bystanders with a knife. 'The woman, who was in possession of two knives, was arrested with the help of members of the public and handed over to police for further action,' he said in a statement here, adding that the motive of the incident was still under investigation. Following the incident, Naazron said six individuals aged between 21 and 60 sustained injuries, with two admitted for further examination while the remaining four received outpatient treatment. He added that three motorcycles were damaged after being hit by the woman's vehicle. Naazron said a remand application under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code would be filed against the woman tomorrow. The case is being investigated under Section 307 and Section 279 of the Penal Code, as well as Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Those with information on the incident are urged to contact the nearest police station or investigating officer Insp. Nursyaza Farhah Samhairi at 017-6919817 to assist with the investigation.
