Chinese foldables have nothing on Galaxy Z Fold 7 where it matters

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is the thinnest and lightest book-style foldable you can buy today, according to an independent analysis. We already knew that the recently-revealed Galaxy Z Fold 7 is Samsung's thinnest and lightest book-style foldable phone to date. The vivo X Fold 5 was believed to have the crown for the slimmest and most lightweight foldable on the market. However, it has now emerged that the Fold 7 outclasses the X Fold 5 in both departments. The Fold 7 will go on sale on July 25, meaning only a select few have their hands on it right now, and most have likely agreed to embargoes. Leakers are not ones to abide by these rules, though, which is why Ice Universe, who also happens to be a fierce critic of Samsung, has posted the results of tests they conducted. The Fold 7 is 8.9mm thick when folded and weighs 215 grams, according to the official specs. Honor claims its Magic V5 is 8.8mm thin and 217 grams on the weight scale. The OPPO Find N5 is said to be 8.93 mm thick and 229 grams. The vivo X Fold5 is 9.2mm thick and comes in at 217 grams, according to the company's website. If you pit the official specs against each other, it seems like the Fold 7 and OPPO Find N5 are evenly matched when it comes to thickness. The Fold 7 also looks the lightest foldable phone , but not by a wide margin. There is no accurate measuring tool, but we can still draw a rigorous conclusion: Galaxy Z Fold7 is the thinnest folding mobile phone in the world. I switched the positions of two mobile phones during the test, and the results remained the same, which showed that the factors of… — PhoneArt (@UniverseIce) July 15, 2025 Ice Universe's analysis shows that the Fold 7 is both the thinnest and the lightest foldable handset around. Some people might scoff at his methods, which involve putting the phones side by side and observing which way a ball slides to determine the thickness. He did use a caliper to confirm his findings, though. The tipster also weighed the phones, and surprisingly, there are variations between what Ice found and the official specs. According to his tests, the Fold 7 weighs 218 grams, beating out Honor Magic V5 (224 grams), vivo X Fold5 (236 grams), and OPPO Find N5 (236 grams). Samsung went to great lengths to achieve this feat, sacrificing S Pen support in the process. As we now know, it was not all for nothing, and Samsung has once again asserted dominance in the category. Secure your connection now at a bargain price! Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 fresh leak leaves little to the imagination before rumoured July 9 launch

July is fast approaching, and so is the Galaxy Unpacked event, which is rumoured to take place on July 9. At this event, Samsung is expected to announce a range of foldables and wearables. However, the spotlight of the show — as it always has been with mid-year Unpacked events — will be on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. That said, we don't need to wait until July to know about the upcoming Samsung foldables, as the duo — Fold and Flip — have leaked in all their glory, leaving little to the imagination. advertisementFolks over at Android Headlines have got their hands on some alleged 'official' renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Both phones look amazing, especially in the new blue colour and how sleek they appear. Speaking of which, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is super thin, and you only realise it when you see it next to the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Galaxy Z Fold 7 (left) and Galaxy Z Fold 6 (right) / Credit: Android Headlines Without further ado, let's start with the details on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. This phone is said to come in two colours: Jet Black and Blue Shadow. The latter shade will remind you of the Galaxy S24's blue variant, and it looks absolutely fire. Apart from this, the rumours about its slimness are also turning out to be true — or at least if the leaks are to be believed. The phone looks astonishingly slim against the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and it will reportedly measure between 3.9mm and 4.5mm in thickness when unfolded. For perspective, the OPPO Find N5 is currently the thinnest foldable, with a 4.2mm thickness when unfolded. Will the Fold 7 beat it? We'll find out soon. Galaxy Z Fold 7 / Credit: Android Headlines advertisement In terms of weight, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to weigh 215 grams — making it 24 grams lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and about 14 grams lighter than the OPPO Find N5. To give you a sense, the Galaxy S25 Ultra weighs 218 grams. So, if you've ever held one of those, you may get somewhat of an idea of how the Fold 7 might feel in the from this, other leaks suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will feature a 6.5-inch cover display along with an 8.2-inch inner display. It is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and is rumoured to come with a triple-rear camera system, led by a 200-megapixel primary to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 — this one is about to get sleeker than ever. Again, not that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 was bulky or anything, but looking at the renders and when you see the Galaxy Z Flip 7 next to the Flip 6, it's hard not to notice how the upcoming model is substantially slimmer. We also expect it to be lighter than the previous model. For context, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 measures 6.9mm when unfolded and weighs 187 grams. This is rumoured to be 4 inches in size, compared to the 3.4-inch cover screen on the Flip 6. Also, similar to the Fold, the renders show the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in the Blue Shadow and Jet Black colourways. Galaxy Z Flip 7 / Credit: Android Headlines Other rumours suggest a Snapdragon 8 Elite or the Exynos 2500 chip under the hood, paired with a 4,000mAh battery and at least 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The camera setup is also expected to remain the same as the older Flip 6 — i.e. a 50-megapixel primary sensor paired with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, along with a 10-megapixel front camera for selfies and video said — while the renders and leaks share a lot of information about Samsung's foldables, and as we said, leave very little to the imagination — these are, at the end of the day, just leaks. Until Samsung makes anything official, we'd suggest you take all the information with a huge grain of is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 during the Unpacked event, rumoured to take place on July 9. Other devices expected at the event include the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE — the company's first-ever Fan Edition foldable phone, the Galaxy G Fold — Samsung's heavily rumoured triple-fold phone, along with the Galaxy Watch 8 series, including the Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic and Watch Ultra tuned to India Today Tech for all the latest on Samsung's upcoming foldable smartphones and the Galaxy Unpacked event.

This recent Google Pixel 10 leak has me very excited about the camera upgrade

Every year, I upgrade to the latest Pixel for one reason: the camera. I think it's one of the best phones around. Not because of the chipset. Not because of the display. Just the camera. And this latest Pixel 10 leak has me counting down the days until launch. According to a report from Android Headlines, the Pixel 10 series might gain telemacro functionality. If you're not familiar, that means the phone could use its telephoto lens to shoot crisp close-up photos. It's a trick that's been popping up in phones like the OPPO Find N5 and OnePlus 13. Instead of relying on the ultrawide for macro shots (which Google has previously done with the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9a), the telephoto lets you zoom in while still getting sharp focus on the tiniest subjects. This sounds like a small tweak, but it could be a big deal. If it works the way it should, it'll mean better close-ups with more detail, less distortion, and cleaner depth. It also means you don't need to get as close to your subject, which could be useful if you're trying to take a picture of a flighty insect, for example. Google might keep the ultrawide macro option too, switching between lenses depending on how close you are to the subject. Basically, it could be offering more flexibility, better results, and more reasons for me to obsessively photograph bugs, flowers, and coffee beans. Sure, it's a relatively minor upgrade, but it's one that has me excited to see what else Google has up its sleeve. The Pixel 10 series is expected to launch on 20 August, with shipping reportedly set for 28 August. If this telemacro upgrade is real, the camera champ might just be levelling up again. And yes, I'm already clearing space in my photo library for hundreds of macro shots. Liked this? These earbuds have a 65-hour battery life, but that's not the best thing about them
