203 firearms, including rifles, explosives seized in major crackdown in Manipur
In a major crackdown on illegal arms circulation, joint security forces recovered a massive cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives during coordinated overnight operations in Manipur's hill intelligence-led operations were conducted between midnight of July 3 and the morning of July 4 across Tengnoupal, Kangpokpi, Chandel and Churachandpur to a statement issued by the Office of the Director General of Police, Manipur, the operations were carried out jointly by Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, the Indian Army, and other Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). The raids followed specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of warlike materials in interior forested Security forces recovered 203 firearms of various calibres and a significant quantity of ammunition and explosives. Among the weapons seized were 21 INSAS rifles, 11 AK-series rifles, 26 self-loading rifles (SLRs), 2 sniper rifles, 3 carbines, 17 .303 rifles, 2 mortars, 3 M79 grenade launchers, and 31 single-bore guns. The cache also included 38 pump-action guns, 4 muzzle-loaded rifles, and a number of locally made pistols and addition to the firearms, forces also seized 29 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, 80 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, 30 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 10 hand grenades, 9 Pompi shells, and 2 lathode sources said the arms were likely stockpiled by various armed groups operating in the hill regions and could have been used to destabilize the area further. The recovery, they added, dealt a significant blow to the operational capacity of militant outfits that continue to pose a threat to peace in Director General of Police's office praised the success of the joint operation, highlighting the growing synergy between state and central security forces. Himachal Pradesh: Sensitive content found on Youth's phone in Kangra; case registered under BNS
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], May 29 (ANI): In a significant breakthrough, Himachal Pradesh Police arrested an 18-year-old boy from Sukahar village in Kangra district after recovering sensitive and objectionable content from his mobile phone, according to the official statement. According to a release from the Office of the Director General of Police, the police formed a special team to arrest the suspect. The arrest was made following a planned surveillance operation conducted by the Police District Dehra under the leadership of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Dadaseeba on the morning of May 28, 2025. According to the release, the team had been monitoring a suspect closely for several days, collecting intelligence and keeping him under surveillance. On Wednesday morning, the team raided the suspect's residence, took him into custody, and brought him to Police Station Dehra for interrogation. During the initial questioning, the accused was identified as Abhishek, son of Rajendra Singh, resident of Sukahar, District Kangra, approximately 18 years old, and reportedly a college dropout, as per the Office of the Director General of Police release. Upon checking Abhishek's mobile phone, the police found sensitive and objectionable content, which falls under the purview of Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A case has been registered under relevant sections at Police Station Dehra, and the accused has been arrested. Further legal proceedings are being carried out as per the law. Himachal Police appealed to the public to immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or the police control room. Earlier, on May 22, Himachal Police attached movable and immovable properties worth Rs 2.65 crores belonging to three drug offenders involved in various Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act cases as part of its strict campaign against drug trafficking. According to a release from the Office of the Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, in the first case, Kangra Police initiated the seizure proceeding of property worth Rs 1,59 crore from the accused, from whom 1.246 kilograms of charas were recovered in Dharmsala. The accused, identified as Sanjay Kumar, had a history of previous cases under the NDPS Act and IPC. The accused had accumulated illegal wealth, including three residential houses valued at Rs 1,55,03,700, and four vehicles. The Kangra Police also attached property worth Rs 1.06 crores in a case relating to the seizure of 241 grams of gold, 1207 grams of silver jewellery, and Rs 44,580 in cash on April 11, 2024. The police had also arrested the accused, Pawan Kumar, and his wife, Neena. (ANI)

Himachal Pradesh Police deliver major blow to drug trade, attach properties worth Rs 2.65 cr
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], May 22 (ANI): As part of its strict campaign against drug trafficking, Kangra Police attached movable and immovable properties worth Rs 2.65 crores belonging to three drug offenders involved in various Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act cases. According to a release from the Office of the Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, in the first case, Kangra Police initiated the seizure proceeding of property worth Rs 1,59 crore from the accused, from whom 1.246 kilograms of charas were recovered in Dharmsala. The accused, identified as Sanjay Kumar, had a history of previous cases under the NDPS Act and IPC. The accused had accumulated illegal wealth, including three residential houses valued at Rs 1,55,03,700, and four vehicles. The Kangra Police will also attach property worth Rs 1.06 crores in a case relating to the seizure of 241 grams of gold, 1207 grams of silver jewellery, and Rs 44,580 in cash on April 11, 2024. The police had also arrested the accused, Pawan Kumar, and his wife, Neena. Pawan Kumar also has five previous NDPS cases against him. Investigation revealed that the accused owned residential houses in villages Arla, Sakot, and Tarsuh, with a combined estimated value of Rs 81,45,267. His movable assets (jewellery and cash) were valued at Rs 24,67,800. The total value of his property stands at Rs 1.06 crores. In a previous successful action, Kangra Police had already seized property worth Rs 51 lakhs from another known drug peddler. These decisive actions demonstrate Himachal Police's continued commitment to dismantling the financial backbone of drug traffickers and bringing such cases to their logical conclusion, the release stated. Earlier on May 19, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu virtually presided over a meeting with district officers of Hamirpur from Shimla to review the progress of various developmental projects in the district. He directed the officials to expedite ongoing works to ensure their timely completion. (ANI)

CM Stalin to lead rally to honour soldiers' sacrifice
CHENNAI: To show solidarity with the Indian armed forces in the wake of terror attacks and transgressions by Pakistan, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Friday announced a unity march to honour the sacrifices and valour of the Indian soldiers. In a press statement, Stalin said the march would begin at 5 pm on Saturday from the Office of the Director General of Police in Chennai and culminate near the war memorial on Marina Beach. Former armed forces personnel, state ministers, students, and members of the public are expected to participate. 'This is a crucial moment for us to express our unity and unwavering support to the Indian Army, which has been bravely defending the nation against cross-border terrorism and incursions,' the CM said in the statement. The march, he said, is aimed at saluting the courage, sacrifice, and commitment of the soldiers and strengthening the spirit of national unity. Calling upon the people of Tamil Nadu to join the march in large numbers, Stalin urged citizens to stand together in support of the armed forces. 'Let us honour our soldiers and send a strong message of solidarity from Tamil Nadu,' he said.
