The Beatles Manage A Rare Chart Feat With More Hit Songs Than Albums
The Beatles land three tracks on the U.K.'s Official Physical Singles chart, with 'From Me to You' ... More returning alongside 'Now and Then' and 'I Want to Hold Your Hand.' The Beatles on stage at the London Palladium during a performance in front of 2, 000 screaming fans. (Photo by) These days, like so many other legacy acts, The Beatles usually perform best on music charts around the world with albums, not singles. This is typically because the millions of people who continue to listen to the group focus on either classic full-lengths or compilations built around some of the band's most famous tunes. The Beatles do occasionally collect a hit or two, especially in the U.K., where the act's fame remains particularly impressive. This frame is a big one for the rockers on song rankings, as British listeners appear to be interested in both albums and singles at the moment. The Beatles fill a trio of spaces on one songs tally in the U.K. this week thanks to a pair of holdovers and one returning smash. "From Me to You" reenters the Official Physical Singles chart at No. 93. It joins both "Now and Then" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand," which dip to Nos. 70 and 84, respectively. Of the three, "Now and Then" is the biggest hit by the band — at least on the Official Physical Singles chart — though the other tracks are much older. "Now and Then," which was released in 2023 as the final track by The Beatles, has reached No. 1 in the past. Both "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "From Me to You" have cracked the top 10, but neither has managed to rule the tally. "Now and Then" has spent more time on the ranking than both of those tracks combined—twice over. Somewhat surprisingly, The Beatles claim more hit songs in the U.K. this week than albums. That's not usually the case – though this isn't the first time the band has managed such a showing. Just two compilations by the group appear on the charts, and both manage to find space on a pair of tallies. 1967–1970 and 1962–1966 — two greatest-hits sets that were released at the same time decades ago — both find space on the Official Albums chart and the Official Albums Streaming ranking. Plays on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and other competitors of the band's most famous smashes are largely powering these two titles.

The Beatles Bring Several Beloved Singles Back To The Charts
The Beatles' 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' and "Now and Then" both become bestsellers again in the ... More U.K., as the two singles return to sales charts this week. (Original Caption) The Beatles are shown at a press conference at the Warwick Hotel. Standing left to right are: Ringo Starr, (wearing polka dot shirt), Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and George Harrison. These days, when it comes to sales and streaming charts, The Beatles are more successful with albums. That's common among legacy acts, as fans tend to focus their attention on the full-lengths that originally propelled the musical icons to superstardom, as well as compilations that assemble their most familiar singles. The Fab Four regularly appears on multiple album rankings in the United Kingdom, where the rock legends remain most popular. While the focus is usually on albums, interest in several Beatles cuts grew last week. The band manages to push a number of tunes back onto different lists, scoring multiple bestsellers long after most music fron the rockers was released. The Beatles currently appear inside the top 40 on two separate sales rankings in the U.K. One of the group's oldest tunes, 'I Want to Hold Your Hand,' is a true bestseller once again. The track reenters the Official Vinyl Singles chart at No. 23. It lands just one spot lower, at No. 24, on the Official Physical Singles chart, which includes not only vinyl purchases, but also CDs and cassettes. On that roster, The Beatles don't merely bounce back — they soar from second-to-last place (No. 99) into the top 40. The band fills a pair of spaces on the Official Physical Singles chart this frame. 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' jumps more than 70 positions, while 'Now and Then' returns at No. 56. That comeback tune, marketed as the final release by The Beatles, was completed with the help of artificial intelligence and dropped in late 2023. 'Now and Then' was a quick No. 1 on seemingly every ranking it touched, including the Official Physical Singles chart. 'I Want to Hold Your Hand,' however, has never managed to conquer either of the tallies on which it appears. It has come close, peaking at No. 2 in the several months it has been present on these rosters — which didn't exist when The Beatles first shared the song more than half a century ago.

Marilyn Manson Misses Charting His First No. 1 Hit — Again
Marilyn Manson's 'In the Air Tonight' opens at No. 2 on the Official Physical Singles chart in the ... More U.K., narrowly missing the top spot after selling out its limited run. BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA - FEBRUARY 09: Marilyn Manson attends the 2020 Vanity Fair Oscar Party hosted by Radhika Jones at Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on February 09, 2020 in Beverly Hills, California. (Photo by) Despite serious allegations of abuse and multiple court cases, Marilyn Manson's fanbase has remained steadfast and stuck by his side for years now. The rocker has largely evaded facing consequences for multiple accusations, and is once again on the path to musical stardom. He demonstrated his continued popularity with Assassination Under God – Chapter 1, his latest album, which arrived in late 2024. That set produced a handful of successful singles in the rock space, and now the controversial musician is back with another tune. Manson recently released a cover of "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins. His take on the pop/rock classic is predictably darker thanks to the fact that he added his own twist to the cut, and that move seems to have resonated with many of his followers. The track was issued as a CD single and made available in extremely limited quantities, as only 4,000 copies were produced. There was clearly interest in new work from the rocker, as the song sold out almost immediately. In the United Kingdom, "In the Air Tonight" appears on three rosters that track pure purchases. It opens highest on the Official Physical Singles chart, which makes sense, given Manson's focus on the CD format. The tune starts at No. 2, just missing out on opening in the top spot. Only one tune, "It's Amazing to Be Young" by Fontaines D.C., kept Manson from hitting No. 1. That cut vaults from No. 78, where it debuted the previous frame, to the top spot. Manson has never reached the summit on the Official Physical Singles chart, though he's come close before. In 2020, he peaked at No. 2 with his version of the American folk song "God's Gonna Cut You Down." Looking at his discography, Manson has landed five tracks inside the top 10 on that tally out of 17 total appearances. "In the Air Tonight" also manages to become a bestseller on two other rankings. It launches at No. 15 on the general Official Singles Sales chart and comes in at No. 37 on the Official Singles Downloads tally. That performance shows that fans of the rocker preferred to buy the track in a physical format, rather than downloading it on platforms like iTunes.

Eddie Vedder Scores A Hit Song — Without Pearl Jam
While he's famous for being the frontman of the band Pearl Jam, Eddie Vedder also enjoys success as a soloist. Though he has achieved incredible commercial acclaim leading that group, he occasionally releases music under his own name — but not very often. This week, one of the rocker's latest offerings brings him back to bestseller status in the United Kingdom, and it earns him a special win. Vedder's take on the tune 'Save It for Later' debuts on the Official Physical Singles chart this week. It opens at No. 62 on the U.K. ranking, which lists only the bestselling songs on formats like CD, vinyl, and cassette. Those physical versions have become increasingly popular once again after nearly disappearing in the wake of iTunes and streaming platforms reshaping the music industry more than a decade ago. Now, superfans of musicians love to buy songs and albums on items they can actually hold. 'Save It for Later' marks Vedder's third solo appearance on the Official Physical Singles chart as a soloist. He first reached the tally almost exactly 15 years ago in 2010 with 'Better Days.' That tune remains his longest-charting and highest-peaking solo hit, as it soared all the way to No. 15, and it held on for five frames. 'Long Way' followed a few years ago, in 2021, and rose to No. 53. Vedder's latest cut was issued as part of Record Store Day. Fans in the U.K. picked up the double-sided 12-inch vinyl, which includes just two tracks, in large enough quantities to turn it into a bestseller. Only 4,000 copies were made available of the double single, though it wasn't reported exactly how many units were sold to push the title onto the list. Last week's U.K. rankings were filled to the brim with Record Store Day exclusives, but Vedder's project was not among them. Interestingly, it finally reaches the tally this frame, becoming a bestseller days after dozens of other such releases disappeared. The double single also features 'Room at the Top,' making the effort a pair of covers by Vedder. 'Save It for Later' was originally made famous by The English Beat. Vedder recorded his rendition for the FX TV series The Bear and turned it into a minor commercial hit last year. He also reworked Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' 'Room at the Top' for a different television program — Bad Monkey, which fans can watch on Apple TV – and both of them make up a special EP of sorts.

Post Malone Earns His First No. 1 With Some Help From A Famous Friend
Post Malone and Taylor Swift's "Fortnight" reaches to No. 1 on three U.K. sales charts, including a ... More debut appearance atop the Official Vinyl Singles list. ELMONT, NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 11: (L-R) Taylor Swift and Post Malone attend the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards at UBS Arena on September 11, 2024 in Elmont, New York. (Photo byfor MTV) Post Malone is having a massive week on the U.K. charts, and he has Taylor Swift –and a new vinyl pressing – to thank for some of his success. The multi-genre superstar is back at No. 1 on several rankings with the blockbuster duet 'Fortnight,' and the song even earns him a brand new chart-topper on a list that had previously eluded him completely. 'Fortnight' finds its way back to the summit on two tallies in the U.K. The hit collaboration returns to No. 1 on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Physical Singles charts, both of which track pure purchases in different formats. The same cut also launches atop the Official Vinyl Singles chart, becoming the bestselling individual song on wax in the U.K. this week. That's a new placement for the track — and a milestone for Malone. Despite his global fame and chart dominance across multiple other rankings, Malone had never appeared on the Official Vinyl Singles chart before this week. That changes as 'Fortnight' doesn't just break onto the ranking, it debuts at No. 1. It's not often that musicians open in first place with their first wins on any roster, let alone a sales-focused list. 'Fortnight' has now appeared on the Official Physical Singles chart in only two weeks — and both times it's run the show. The single debuted at No. 1 back in May 2024 before vanishing entirely from the tally. Nearly a year later, it's back at No. 1 once again. That isn't quite the case when it comes to the Official Singles Sales chart. On that roster, 'Fortnight' started at No. 8, then quickly climbed to No. 1 the following frame. Over the past year, it has now spent 18 weeks on that ranking in total, with just two of them in the top spot. 'Fortnight' is back following another hugely successful edition of Record Store Day. The song was reissued as a white 7-inch vinyl, featuring the original duet on one side and a remix on the other. The limited-edition pressing instantly became a collectible for fans of both Swift and Malone – which means, to a lot of people. The smash also returns to the main U.K. singles ranking. This week, the cut reappears at No. 29 on the Official Singles chart, the country's primary list of the most popular tracks. While not a new peak – it's already topped the tally – it's an impressive resurgence for a tune that many assumed had run its course.
