Snohomish County, WA deputies seek help in Lynnwood drive-by shooting
The Brief The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office is seeking help identifying suspects in a drive-by shooting incident in Lynnwood. Deputies say two white men in a black sedan shot at a Hispanic man's truck after leaving LA Fitness. Tips can be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers, and a cash reward is available if the tip leads to an arrest. LYNNWOOD, Wash. - Snohomish County Sheriff's deputies are asking for your help to identify the suspects who shot at a man's truck after he left the LA Fitness Gym on Mukilteo Speedway in Lynnwood. What we know The victim is Hispanic. The suspects are two white men driving an older black lowered sedan, possibly a Honda Accord-style race car with tinted windows. It happened on May 5 after he saw four vehicles pull into the parking lot of the gym and start doing donuts. The victim says the gym's surveillance cameras were not working. He had no interaction with them, but a black sedan followed his truck as he drove home, pulled up alongside him, and the passenger started shooting. "When I looked to the side, they pulled the window down and they pointed a gun at me but they didn't say nothing, so I got scared and kept driving my truck to my sister's house. I called her but she didn't answer. I called the police and they picked up, and then at the light they shot at me and they broke the passenger seats and I got scared. I wondered who these people are," said the victim, who did not want to be identified for his safety. Family of student murdered at Seattle school files lawsuit against district
The Brief The family of Amarr Murphy-Paine, a student murdered in front of Garfield High School last year, has filed a lawsuit against Seattle Public Schools. The lawsuit accuses the school district of failing to provide a secure campus, blaming policies and inadequate security. SEATTLE - The family of Amarr Murphy-Paine, a Garfield High School student who was murdered on campus last year, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Seattle Public Schools. The backstory Murphy-Paine, a 17-year-old, was trying to stop a fight he saw in the parking lot when he was shot and killed in June 2024. The suspect in the shooting has still not been caught. The lawsuit accuses Seattle Public Schools of failing to provide a secure campus for students, and blames open campus policies and inadequate security. Video surveillance captured the whole incident. As Amarr walked past Garfield's Performing Arts Center, he turned around and tried to break up a fight between a former student and current student. Then, one of them fatally shoots Murphy-Paine. Amarr's father says the school and Seattle police initially treated the it like a gang shooting when it wasn't. "They didn't say it was a school shooting. They let Amarr look like somebody, if you ask me, who deserved something brought to him that way. He was a kid that came out of that school. That could have happened to anybody," said Arron Muphy-Paine, Amarr's father. The lawsuit says Seattle Public Schools ignored obvious warning signs about gun violence on and around campus. It details an incident earlier that same day in which a student in a ski-mask entered a classroom and shot a teacher multiple times with an airsoft rifle, then escaped. It says no staff called 911 to report it, as mandated by policy. The suit also states Seattle police responded to at least nine reports of dangerous weapons from 2020 to 2024, when they banned school resource officers on campus. "Just another thing that's happening in and around Garfield. Do you think that if that happened at O'Dea High School…I'm not even going to say the rest," Arron Murphy-Paine said. The lawsuit says the school had a duty to protect Amarr from an armed intruder entering campus. Meanwhile, Seattle police are continuing to ask for the public's help to identify Amarr's killer. WA DOC officers searching for convicted sex offender with disturbing history
The Brief Department of Corrections officers in Washington are asking for the public's help to find a convicted sex offender who escaped community custody. Williford, 37, has a criminal history that includes child sex crimes and animal cruelty. SEATTLE - Department of Corrections officers in the Northwest Community Response unit are asking for the public's help to find David Williford. The backstory The 37-year-old has a Department of Corrections warrant for escaping from community custody after he cut off his GPS tracker on May 5 in West Seattle and disappeared. Williford is under DOC supervision after he was convicted in Mason County for first-degree incest. Williford was released from the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton on April 30 after he was sentenced to 13 months in custody and 36 months of has been staying at his mother's house in West Seattle's North Admiral neighborhood since he was released. He initially checked in with his assigned DOC officer and was fitted with a GPS tracker but cut it off when he returned home later that day. He has a criminal history that includes child sex crimes and animal cruelty after torturing and killing pets he purchased on Craigslist. Williford is missing the last joint of his index finger on his right hand (pointer finger). He has tattoos on his left hand of the Infinity sign and the words, "Every Day" as well as a puzzle piece on his left forearm along four hash marks on his left wrist. Williford is 6' feet tall and weighs 190 you spot him, call 911. Person used rock in 5 Hybla Valley burglaries, Fairfax County police say
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. () — Detectives said they were trying to find the person responsible for breaking into five businesses in Hybla Valley in less than two weeks. The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) said the first burglary took place at La Taza Panaderia, located at 7850 Richmond Hwy., on April 17. The person who contacted police said the burglar broke into the bakery with a rock, took money, and left. Chantilly police seek public's help in solving indecent exposure cases
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Detectives are asking for the community's assistance after reports of indecent exposures in Chantilly over a few years. On March 30, between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., police received reports of an unknown man exposing himself to multiple victims near the 4600 block of Stonecroft Boulevard in Chantilly.
