Senior IPS officer PSR Anjaneyulu hospitalised in Vijayawada GGH amid APPSC Group-1 scam investigation
VIJAYAWADA: Senior IPS officer and former Intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu, currently in judicial remand in connection with the alleged APPSC Group-1 examination evaluation scam, was admitted to Vijayawada GGH on Saturday afternoon. This marks the second time Anjaneyulu has been hospitalised since his remand, after developing health complications in jail. According to jail authorities, Anjaneyulu was rushed to the hospital around 10 am after experiencing sudden blood pressure fluctuations and giddiness. Doctors provided initial treatment and later moved him to the general ward for observation. His condition was monitored through the evening, and a detailed medical report was submitted to police and jail authorities. Anjaneyulu recently secured bail in a harassment case involving a doctor and Mumbai-based actress Kadambari Jethwani. He is still awaiting bail in the APPSC scam case.

PSR Anjaneyulu's bail petition dismissed
VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada Court on Friday dismissed the petition of senior IPS officer PSR Anjaneyulu seeking bail. The former State Intelligence chief was arrested on April 22 in connection with the alleged harassment of Mumbai-based actress Kadambari Jethwani. He was produced in court and sent to judicial remand for 14 days. Initially, Ibrahimpatnam police registered a case against Anjaneyulu, former NTR district Commissioner of Police Kanthi Rana Tata, former DCP Vishal Gunni and two others, which was later transferred to CID. 'No coercion against Joshua' The High Court on Friday instructed the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials not to initiate coercive action against the suspended IPS officer Palle Joshua. While issuing orders on the petition filed by Joshua, Justice T Mallikarjuna Rao instructed the investigation agency to call him for questioning duly serving notices under Section 35(3) of BNNS. The court also directed the petitioner to extend his cooperation to the investigation officers, and not to discuss the case details publicly. It may be recalled that the ACB registered a case against former minister Vidadala Rajini, IPS officer Joshua and two others for extorting `2.2 crore from a stone crusher unit owner at Edlapadu during the previous YSRCP regime.

66 unqualified people copied pre-decided marks onto OMR sheets in APPSC scam
1 2 Vijayawada: Instead of appointing professors for the evaluation of answer sheets of Group I examination , 66 unqualified individuals were hired to copy pre-decided marks onto OMR answer sheets without any actual assessment, according to the remand report of arrested Pamidikalva Madhusudana Rao. Rao was arrested in the alleged APPSC Group I scam and produced before a court allegedly orchestrated a fraudulent evaluation process for the Group-1 mains exam, manipulating results and misusing over Rs 1.14 crore in public funds. Instead of conducting a legitimate manual evaluation as ordered by the AP high court, the APPSC secretary and his team reportedly hired a private agency to falsely map pre-determined marks onto answer sheets, bypassing all established controversy began when the APPSC conducted a digital evaluation for the Group-1 mains exam (2018 batch), citing the COVID-19 pandemic. However, aggrieved candidates challenged this in court, arguing that the original notification promised manual evaluation. The Andhra Pradesh high court, in 2021, set aside the digital evaluation and ordered a fresh manual assessment.A case was registered at Suryaraopeta police station here and a special team arrested the second accused, Pamidikalva Madhusudhana Rao, director of the company involved in the to the remand report, instead of complying with the court's directive transparently, then APPSC secretary PSR Anjaneyulu allegedly took matters into his own hands. Ignoring objections from senior officials, he decided to conduct the evaluation through a private agency at a resort in Guntur, violating all established procedures. When officials, including additional secretary Durvasala Visala and joint secretary KV Prasad, raised concerns, Anjaneyulu reportedly dismissed them and claimed full may be recalled that PSR Anjaneyulu was arrested earlier and sent to judicial remand in a case of wrongful arrest and harassment of a Mumbai-based actress and her family.M Venkata Subbaiah, assistant secretary of the confidential wing, contacted Pamidikalva Madhusudhana Rao, director of Camsign Media Pvt Ltd, and instructed him to organise the sham evaluation. A work order was issued to Madhusudhan's firm without any tender or competitive bidding, raising immediate red flags, the remand report report stated that 66 unqualified individuals were hired to copy pre-decided marks onto OMR sheets without any actual assessment. During an orientation session, Subbaiah explicitly instructed the workers: "Do not evaluate, just write the marks given to you and sign as examiners." The entire operation was conducted without CCTV cameras, ensuring no police have registered a case under IPC Sections 409 (Criminal breach of trust), 420 (Cheating), 477-A (Falsification of accounts), and 120-B (Criminal conspiracy). Madhusudhan was arrested, and investigators are seeking custody to recover missing files and trace the money trail. Anjaneyulu and Subbaiah are under scrutiny and may face arrest soon.

Former intel chief's interrogation by CID concludes
Vijayawada: The three-day custodial interrogation of senior IPS officer PSR Anjaneyulu by CID officials in connection with the alleged illegal detention of a Mumbai-based actress and her parents concluded on Tuesday. The questioning started at 11 am and continued till 5 pm, with officers posing over 80 pointed questions to the former intelligence chief. Sources said Anjaneyulu was largely non-cooperative, giving evasive, indirect, and vague responses to almost all questions. Even when presented with documentary evidence, he reportedly gave replies that were unrelated or deflective. His responses did not provide clarity on key issues such as who instructed him to act in the case, why the actress and her parents were detained, or the basis for certain actions taken by him in the case. He also refused to accept food provided during the custodial interrogation. "I won't eat the food you give me. I don't need it," he reportedly told the CID officers when offered lunch. After the conclusion of questioning, Anjaneyulu was taken back to Vijayawada district jail and handed over to prison authorities.

Former state intel chief questioned by CID
Vijayawada: Former state intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu was taken into custody by CID for a second consecutive day on Monday in connection with the case of alleged wrongful arrest of a Mumbai-based actress and her family. CID officials took Anjaneyulu from Vijayawada dist jail to Vijayawada govt hospital for mandatory medical examination. Following the health check-up, he was moved to the CID office in Kanuru for interrogation. The interrogation, initially scheduled for Sunday, was postponed after doctors diagnosed Anjaneyulu with high blood pressure, making him unfit for questioning. CID earlier filed a petition in the court seeking custody of Anjaneyulu, stating the need to gather more information regarding the conspiracy and events surrounding the case. Granting the petition, the court authorised the CID to interrogate Anjaneyulu for three days — Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday — from 10 am to 5 pm each day. Accordingly, CID officials took Anjaneyulu into custody at 10:30 am on Sunday and transported him to the govt hospital for medical evaluation. However, doctors said he was suffering from high blood pressure. Given his medical condition, the CID decided to defer questioning and requested that he be provided necessary medical care. Anjaneyulu received treatment at the govt hospital till 2 pm, but his blood pressure remained uncontrolled, prompting the CID to return him to the district jail. Resuming the process on Monday, CID officials again took Anjaneyulu into custody at 10:30 am, conducted another round of medical tests, and subsequently moved him to the CID office.
