Calcutta High Court upholds artistes' right to work in Tollywood
In a significant ruling, Justice Amrita Sinha of the Calcutta High Court on Monday issued a stern directive stating that no one can obstruct artistes from working in the Tollywood film industry. This comes after actors like Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Anirban Bhattacharya alleged that they were being prevented from working. The conflict between film directors and the Federation of Cine Technicians & Workers of Eastern India has long plagued Tollywood, often resulting in production halts. The matter escalated to the point of judicial intervention. During the hearing, Justice Sinha said, 'No one can interfere with someone's livelihood. If issues arise, local police must be approached. The state cannot remain a mute spectator.' Advocate Abhratosh Majumdar informed the court that despite previous directives, obstruction continues, with shooting being halted and artists sidelined. The story explores silence, sorrow, and suppressed truths. Some stories are not merely told—they are felt, like an echo that lingers in the room long after the last word. Bhog , one of Avik Sarkar's most haunting and celebrated audio narratives, has now found a new home on screen. The series is directed by Parambrata Chattopadhyay . To mark this momentous adaptation, the team of Bhog came together on Monday evening where the cast and crew were present where they shared their experiences, the layered characters, and the emotional and creative journey of the story and bringing Bhog to screen. As part of the evening's highlights, the official trailer of the series was shown, offering guests a chilling visual into the atmospheric tension, emotional undertones, and psychological unease that define Bhog. In a fitting tribute to the show's evocative theme, guests were treated to a specially curated bhog platter — a culinary experience that mirrored the series' rich symbolism, emotional depth, and lingering unease. Speaking about his vision, Parambratasaid: ' Bhog is a story that thrives in the spaces between words—in silence, in sorrow, in suppressed truths. Adapting it visually meant creating a rhythm of emotion that feels both haunting and human.' Anirban Bhattacharya , who plays Atin a complex, emotionally charged role, reflected: "This isn't a loud thriller. It creeps in. The tension is psychological, emotional—and that's where the power lies. It stays with you.' Parno Mittra , who plays a pivotal character of Damri, added: 'There's a beautiful stillness to Bhog. It's fragile, but full of meaning. The kind of story that demands you give a piece of yourself to it.' With its haunting silences, simmering tension, and emotional depth, Bhog promises to blur the lines between guilt and grief, memory and mystery. As the story unfolds on screen, it invites the audience to not just watch—but to feel, to question, and to remember.
