BJP issues notice to MLA for ‘assault' on train passenger

LUCKNOW: BJP issued a showcause notice to its Babina (Jhansi) MLA Rajeev Singh Parichha for his 'indiscipline' tarnishing the party image after a CCTV footage showing him & his aides raining blows on a passenger on a Vande Bharat Express sparked public outrage, reports Arvind Chauhan . The party has asked Parichha to explain within seven days. The incident unfolded Thursday on Bhopal-bound Vande Bharat. A passenger (name withheld), occupying berth 49, was allegedly pressured by Parichha, who was traveling with his wife, son, and a security guard, to swap his seat with berth 8, allotted to the MLA. When he refused, the MLA's group picked up an argument with the passenger. ACCTV footage captured at least eight men attacking the passenger, hitting his head and face with footwear. The passenger declined to file a written complaint while Parichha lodged an FIR against the passenger under BNS sections 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt) and 352 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace). TOI made attempts to contact Parichha for his comments, but he didn't respond.

The BJP's Uttar Pradesh unit issued a show-cause notice to Babina MLA Rajeev Singh Parichha over a viral video of his alleged supporters involved in a scuffle with a fellow passenger aboard the Vande Bharat incident occurred on June 19 when Parichha was travelling from Delhi to Bhopal with his wife and child. BJP MLA files complaint after row over Vande Bharat seat: Police
A dispute over a seat on the Bhopal-bound Vande Bharat Express between BJP MLA Rajeev Singh Parichha and a 50-year-old passenger escalated on Friday after purported photos and videos of the injured passenger surfaced on social media. Police said the alleged incident happened on Thursday when Raj Prakash, a Bhopal resident, declined to exchange his seat with the MLA. It is alleged that the MLA's aides later assaulted Prakash, police said. While Parichha has filed a police complaint, no complaint has been filed by Prakash so far. Parichha was not available for comment.
