Meanwhile, Jennie of K-pop girl group Blackpink will lend her star power to Seoul, the Seoul Tourism Organisation announced on July 29. The South Korean singer was tapped as the honorary ambassador to promote tourism in the capital city in 2025, and a campaign video featuring the 29-year-old will be unveiled on July 31. Under the catchphrase 'Absolutely in Seoul', the first promotional video – Daltokki – will follow Jennie as she explores spots in Seoul, from Gyeongbokgung to Seongsu-dong. The second video will incorporate her song Seoul City (2025), from her first solo full-length album Ruby , released in March. In 2024, South Korea welcomed approximately 16.37 million overseas visitors, a 48.4% increase from the previous year and reaching 94% of the pre‑Covid‑19 peak of around 17.5 million in 2019, according to the KTO. Actor Park Bo-gum named honorary ambassador for 2025 Korea Tourism
Actor Park Bo-gum has been appointed as the honorary ambassador for 2025 Korea Tourism, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced Thursday. A teaser video for the upcoming global promotional campaign was unveiled on the ministry's official YouTube channel 'Imagine Your Korea,' revealing Park as the new face of Korean tourism. The ministry and the Korea Tourism Organization have consistently tapped top-tier Hallyu stars to front their annual campaigns — BTS in 2022, Lee Jung-jae in 2023 and NewJeans in 2024. Park, widely loved for his nuanced acting in the Netflix hit 'When Life Gives You Tangerines,' will now lead efforts to promote Korea abroad over the next year. As global travelers increasingly seek personalized, emotionally resonant journeys rather than conventional sightseeing, this year's campaign encourages visitors to take charge in their own Korean travel stories. In the teaser clip, Park extends an invitation, asking, 'Will you be the main character of this story?' The message kicks off the 'Never Ending Korea' campaign, aimed at showcasing the country's charms and immersive travel experiences.

Step into romance of Korean dramas
'K-Drama: Love Chapter' exhibition at Cheong Wa Dae Sarangchae invites visitors to explore love in Korean dramas Love is not just one part of life — it's the pulse that runs through everything. It's no wonder then that love is the central theme to so many Korean TV dramas and movies; it resonates with a broad audience and opens the door to exploring universal human emotions and experiences. In watching it on the screen, we see that love is not just a feeling, but a choice, a verb and an action. After all, we come to understand that the heart wants what it wants. Looking to delve into the world and emotions of love portrayed in Korean drama? Head over to Cheong Wa Dae Sarangchae — an exhibition hall and cultural space located near the former presidential complex in Jongno, central Seoul — for an exhibition titled "K-Drama: Love Chapter." Jointly hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization, the exhibition centers on the theme of love in Korean drama series, inviting visitors to explore their romance through various multimedia technologies. The visually immersive exhibition, which brings the theme of love in Korean dramas to life, utilizes audiovisual technology to guide visitors through famous love stories from Korean TV drama. In the lobby, more than 309 fabric hangings display still images from various Korean series. As visitors walk through the exhibition hall, some of the key attractions that await them are 3D media art that blends actual drama filming locations with original soundtracks and prismatic glass pillars that project iconic scenes from various hit series. The series include "When Life Gives You Tangerines" (2025), a recent Netflix hit starring Hallyu titans Park Bo-gum and Lee Ji-eun that follows the tender and tumultuous relationship of Ae-sun and Gwan-sik across half a century in Korea, and "Crashing Landing on You" (2019), a 16-part drama series about a chaebol heir who makes an emergency parachute landing in North Korea, starring Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin. The exhibition runs until Nov. 30. It opens every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. except Tuesdays.
