The 2012 London Olympic medalist shared the news on social media. 'Life takes us in different directions sometimes. After much thought and consideration, Kashyap Parupalli and I have decided to part ways. We're choosing peace, growth, and healing – for ourselves and each other. I'm grateful for the memories and wish nothing but the best moving forward. Thank you for understanding and respecting our privacy during this time,' Saina wrote on her Instagram story. Saina and Kashyap got married in 2018. Saina and Parupalli trained at Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad. Whereas Saina gained fame and popularity with her fantastic game and Olympic bronze Parupalli found his way of getting it by winning the gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. She was the second Indian Woman to win an Olympic medal after Karnam Malleswari. Saina in 2015 created history as she became the first Indian woman who achieved World no.1 ranking in women singles badminton. There is still no official statement by Parupalli concerning the separation. In 2024 Saina had revealed that she was battling arthritis and would shortly have to give a call on the future of her badminton career. 'The knee is not very good. I have arthritis. My cartilage has gone to a bad state. It is very difficult to push for eight-nine hours,' Said Nehwal on the 'House of Glory' podcast by great Gagan Narang, who was India's chef-de-mission in Paris Olympics 2024. Saina and Parupalli are set to separate after nearly 7 years of and Parupalli grew up together through the ranks of Indian badminton at the Pullela Gopichand academy in Hyderabad. Parupalli transitioned into coaching after retiring from competitive badminton, and took on the role of guiding Saina during the later years of her career. His switch from sparring partner to strategic mentor symbolised their deep showed flashes of brilliance when she defeated an in-form PV Sindhu in the 2019 National Championships. It was Kashyap who was guiding her at that time. Under Parupalli's coaching, Saina attempted a comeback from a series of injuries that had plagued her post-2016. While results were mixed, the determination of both athletes never wavered. Kashyap could often be seen courtside, offering tactical advice and moral support, especially during domestic tournaments and international qualifiers.
