If you're curious, you can read our Privacy Notice. ‌ A post about the incident on the Police Scotland Greater Glasgow Facebook page said: "Officers are appealing for information following a robbery at a shop on Hawthorn Street in Glasgow. ‌ "The incident happened around 9.05pm on Saturday, 16 August, when a man entered the premises and sprayed a staff member with a substance before making off with a sum of cash. ‌ "Emergency services attended and the staff member, a 24-year-old man, was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment. The suspect is described as white and of slim build. "He was wearing a green and grey tracksuit top with a zip, orange shorts, black socks and black trainers. He left in the direction of Memel Street." Detective Sergeant Greg Turnbull said: 'This was an extremely frightening experience for the shop worker which left him with serious injuries requiring hospital treatment. 'Extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace the man responsible and we are asking anyone who knows who he is or where he might be to get in touch. 'We are also asking anyone who saw anything before or after the robbery to make contact. Please also check private CCTV and dash-cam footage to see if you have captured something that could assist with our investigation.' Anyone who can help is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3850 of Saturday, 16 August, 2025, or make a call anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A teenager who has been missing from England for nearly two weeks is believed to be in Scotland, police have said. The 17-year-old vanished on Sunday, May 18. Identified by police only as James, he was last seen in Morecambe, in the north west of England. Morecambe Police said he was last spotted on the coastal town's Thornton Road. ‌ The sighting of the teenager was at around 2.20pm on the day in question, and he was wearing a black t-shirt, tracksuit, silver chain and a cap at the time. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! They believe James could be in the Glasgow area." The force shared a post from Morecambe Police about James' disappearance. It read: "Have you seen James? James, 17, is missing from Morecambe. "He was last seen on Thornton Road on 18th May at around 2:20pm. Since James was reported as missing to us, we have carried out enquiries offline, but are now asking for your help. "He is 5ft 6in with short hair, shaved on the sides with facial hair. He was last seen wearing a tracksuit, black t-shirt, a silver chain and a cap. The car was said to have collided with a man while he was standing at the bus stop on Dyke Road in Yoker. The incident occurred around 1.20pm, yesterday, May 19 in the West of the city. The Jeep then fled the scene as it failed to stop and sped away in the direction of Culbin Drive. The victim, a 41-year-old man, was said to have not needed any medical treatment following the ordeal. Police Scotland is appealing for information following the hit and run. A Glasgow community police officer was pictured with a Still Game actor in the city. PC Barry, from Partick Community Policing Team, ran into Scottish actor and comedian Gavin Mitchell while at a bike marking event in Kelvin Way. On social media, the force shared a picture of the two, saying: "PC Barry, from Partick Community Policing Team, had a nice wee chat with 'Boaby the Barman' whilst carrying out a recent bike marking event in Kelvin Way. "It was lovely to meet you but, unfortunately, being on duty means no pints."
