We tried No7 Pro Artist Weightless Silk Sheer Foundation - here are our thoughts

If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission – learn more No7 is a longstanding beauty brand that many know and love – not least because of the impressive beauty vaults from the label, but the new Pro Artist Weightless Silk Sheer Foundation. Last month No7 expanded its luxury make-up range, Pro Artist, to include the new Weightless Silk Foundation to its ever-growing collection, which I have been trialling behind the scenes to see if it delivers. In short: it does. While I am a Beauty Editor of over a decade and have sampled various foundations in my time, it is not a staple in my make-up kit. Instead, if I am heading to the office, events or more formal occasions I prefer the sheer coverage, lightweight texture and subtle hint of colour, a tinted moisturiser provides. But, I think I may have met my match with the new Pro Artist Weightless Silk Sheer Foundation. Yes, the title is a bit of a mouthful, so we'll abbreviate it to the Weightless Silk Foundation, but it does exactly what it says on the tin. This foundation is featherweight, it blends seamlessly into the skin, leaves a velvet soft finish that isn't too cakey, greasy or 'done', and it offers a sheer coverage for that 'your skin but better' look. Tick, tick, tick! This foundation is a make-up and skincare with brightening vitamin C, soothing vitamin E and hydrating hyaluronic acid. It offers sheer coverage, which is easy to blend into the skin, velvet-soft, non-greasy, buildable and longlasting. Available in 12 shades. BUY NOW FOR £19.95 The foundation is a make-up and skincare hybrid as the formula is enriched with vitamins C, E, as well as hyaluronic acid. Not only does the foundation work to brighten the skin on the surface, but the skin-loving ingredients achieve this on a deeper level too as vitamin C is known for its brightening properties, hyaluronic acid hydrates the skin, while vitamin E is soothing on the skin. The foundation is ultra-lightweight in the skin, breathable and doesn't leave the skin feeling sticky, greasy. In fact, I would say it leaves a second skin feel, which is what I love about a tinted moisturiser. While it offers sheer coverage, it is enough to conceal any blemishes, redness, uneven skin tone, blur the skin, as well as brighten my tired and grey skin. What also impressed me was no matter how much of the liquid foundation I applied it absorbed into the skin easily, yet didn't look cakey, even if I accidentally applied too much. I sampled Cool Ivory and Cool Vanilla as I can be between skin tones, especially if I have fake tan on my face or have been in the sun. But both colours suited my skin tone and blended into my natural skin tone easily I couldn't tell the difference. So, if you are unsure on the best shade for your skin you don't have to panic buy every shade, which is much more cost effective. More Trending The foundation sits beautifully on bare skin, over moisturiser and other skincare products, but also under make-up. As the Weightless Foundation offers sheer coverage I was dubious how longlasting this product would be, and if it would live up to its 24-hour staying power. But it's safe to say this foundation didn't budge from morning til night when the UK was hit with a heatwave, which says a lot. I know I don't often want to layer make-up onto my skin in the summer, especially not a thick foundation, but this No7 Pro Artist Weightless Silk Foundation is a saving grace in those instances – well, all year round for that matter. Safe to say No7 has pulled it out the bag with its latest drop, which is now an essential in my make-up kit for the summer, and every season after. Plus, you can't go wrong for £19.95, though stay tuned as Boots Big Summer Sale could see the price drop – who knows? Boots 'weightless' new No7 foundation gives an 'airbrushed finish' for under £20
The health and beauty firm's newest addition offers a full-day coverage that is ideal for anyone with a busy lifestyle. Ask any beauty fan what is the best high street owned brand and many will say Boots' No7. Offering popular lines that often sell out and cause massive queues, there's no denying its popularity. So, when the health and beauty chain decides to update its luxury range with a brand new foundation that is said to give an "airbrushed finish", we, alongside many others, pay attention. For those who don't like that cakey, heavy feeling on their face, this Pro Artist Weightless Silk Sheer Foundation is ideal for a lightweight coverage that is said to remain in place all day long. Costing £19.95 for a 30ml bottle, it has been designed to "glide seamlessly" onto the skin, offering a radiant, fresh appearance for 12 different skin tones, although it's worth noting that some are already sold out online. With added vitamin C, it helps to brighten the skin, while vitamin E supports the skin's natural moisture barrier, and hyaluronic acid helps to lock in moisture for a hydrating effect. A similar product beauty buffs often heap praise on is the Bobbi Brown Weightless Skin Foundation SPF15 that also offers a full-day of coverage. Available in multiple shades, it currently costs £43 on lookfantastic. Meanwhile, one of the most iconic long-staying foundations on the market is the Estée Lauder Double Wear with SPF10. Also available in a shade for every skin type, it can be bought for 25 percent less at Debenhams where it has been cut from £39.50 to £29.63. That's not to say Boots' new No7 Pro Artist Foundation is to be sniffed at, as, even though it is a recent addition, it has amassed glowing reviews from shoppers who say it is "flawless" and their "new staple." A positive review read: "I am not a regular foundation user as have generally been disappointed with some very high end purchases. This is a game changer! Very lightweight and silky, almost imperceptible on the skin yet leaves a flawless, air brushed finish. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! A second glowing review read: "Love this foundation for the summer, it's lightweight and the coverage is great for hiding redness but showing freckles! And it has vitamin c/e and hyaluronic acid!"
