X-Men: Bryan Cranston Allegedly Eyed to be the New Charles Xavier

Rumors were flying around that Marvel may have wanted a POC to play the part of the new Charlie Xavier for the MCU, but it's possible they could be sticking to keeping him Caucasian. According to @MyTimeToShineH, Marvel is allegedly looking at Bryan Cranston ( Breaking Bad ) to be the new leader of the X-Men. We already know he can play the bald look, but it's curious exactly what kind of Xavier he can deliver, seeing that he can either be ridiculously evil or all-around goofy. Admittedly, we have to take this news with a grain of salt, seeing that MTTSH has had missteps in the past, but they've also reported some true things as well. Personally, I was in the camp that wanted to revamp the origins of Professor X and Magneto so that they better exemplified more recent issues on discrimination. A popular fancast was for Giancarlo Esposito (surprisingly also in Breaking Bad ) to be Xavier and Denzel Washington to be the new Magneto—with Magneto's origin of being a holocaust survivor being switched to him surviving another kind of race war. There are some who think that changing Magneto's origin is a delicate matter, but there are some who believe that, to stay relevant, his origin could be changed so that the core issue is still discrimination—which was also at the heart of his holocaust survivor story. I mean, if they wanted Magneto to be alive around that time, he would have to be incredibly old in the 2020s; and you can only go so far with the 'his powers stop his aging' or 'he's a time-traveller' storyline. Then again, I am just spit-balling here. For now, we have no idea when the proper X-Men reboot is going to be, but fans are expecting it after the events of Avengers: Secret Wars which comes out in 2027.

New Rumor Claims to Reveal Which Character Bryan Cranston Is in Talks to Play in Marvel's X-MEN Reboot — GeekTyrant

It's not exactly news that Marvel has had an eye on casting Bryan Cranston ( Breaking Bad ) in the MCU in some capacity, but a new rumor claims to have zeroed in on the character they want him to play. While many have fan-cast Cranston as comic book villains like Lex Luthor and Mister Sinister, this role is more on the heroic side. Industry scooper @MyTimeToShineH is reporting that Cranston is being eyed for the role of Professor X in Marvel Studios' upcoming X-Men reboot. This isn't official, and just because Kevin Feige may be eager to see Cranston play Charles Xavier, it doesn't mean he'll enter talks or even consider lending his talents to the role made iconic by Sir Patrick Stewart. "I want to play an antagonist a fraction smarter than the protagonist, never dumbed down to give the hero an easy win," Cranston previously said while sharing his interest in potentially boarding a comic book adaptation. "That's frustrating and boring to watch. Actually, that was the character, I'll admit. Mister Sinister was the character I was thinking about." After sharing his interest in playing the X-Men '97 villain, Cranston explained why he has little to no interest in playing anyone we've already seen on screen. "I guess it's a selfish standpoint. I don't want to do a character that has been done several times before. I don't want to be compared like 'Well, his Commissioner Gordon was yada yada yada...' I don't want to do that. I want to take something that hasn't been done," he concluded, making it seem doubtful that he'd agree to play Professor X in the MCU, but not impossible. It's true that following in Stewart's footsteps wouldn't be easy for any actor, but if anyone was up for the task, I believe Cranston could do it justice.

Avengers: Doomsday update leaves Marvel movie fans bitterly disappointed

Disney has made a crucial decision around the upcoming features Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been left reeling after Disney announced a significant delay to the release of two highly anticipated Avengers films. Avengers: Doomsday, initially slated for release on May 1, 2026, has been pushed back to December 18, 2026, while its follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars, has been delayed from May 7, 2027, to December 17, 2027. ‌ According to insiders, the delays are due to the massive scale of the productions, with the studio opting for a longer timeframe to bring their ambitious vision to life. ‌ Additionally, Disney has chosen to release the films in December, a strategy that has proven successful in the past with films like Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, the news has been met with disappointment from Marvel fans, who took to social media to express their frustration. One fan wrote: "No way! No one saw this coming right?" while another commented, "honestly f--k marvel atp we all know these movies are gonna have lack of effort put into them and is just going to be full to the brim of fan service." Others reminisced about the franchise's heyday, with one fan posting: "Take me back to 2019 when marvel was going back to back," while another wrote: "That's a long wait for something that already feels like it wrapped years ago." Marvel enthusiasts have rallied together to discuss the potential benefits of a delay for the franchise, reports the Mirror US. ‌ One fan expressed relief on social media: "Yesss pls take the time and cook a good product. Never been more happy about a delay. Was worried itt was gonna look s--t coz of the timeline." Another supporter commented: "I'm completely fine with that, having this movie being completely rushed to get to that date and end up being really awful is the worst choice, delaying is the best decision for MCU to do for this movie." A different user suggested a longer postponement: "It should've been longer, with a very tight production time they have right now i don't think they will even achieve the best possible quality by december." ‌ The announcement of the cast at San Diego Comic Con was met with excitement from Marvel fans. The original X-Men are set to return, featuring Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique) and Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler). ‌ They will be joined by Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), and Robert Downey Jr., who previously played Tony Stark/Iron Man but will now take on the role of Dr Doom. X-MEN Reboot's Leads Reportedly Revealed: Colman Domingo and Daisy Edgar-Jones Eyed for Key Roles — GeekTyrant

Marvel Studios is in early development on its long-awaited X-Men reboot, and if the latest reports are to be believed, they're looking to build the franchise around three iconic characters with Professor X, Cyclops, and Jean Grey. According to The Hot Mic podcast host Jeff Sneider, Marvel is following a strategy similar to how they approached The Fantastic Four , by locking in a core trio first before building out the rest of the team. Sneider shared that while Harris Dickinson is no longer expected to play Scott Summers/Cyclops, there are two interesting names reportedly in the mix for the other leads: Colman Domingo for Professor X and Daisy Edgar-Jones for Jean Grey. Domingo is fresh off an Oscar nomination for his film Sing Sing and is known for roles in Rustin , Euphoria , and Fear the Walking Dead . Domingo seems like a strong choice for Charles Xavier as he brings a commanding presence to every role he takes on. Domingo did have conversations with Marvel about replacing Jonathan Majors as Kang at one point, but It pan out because it didn't feel right. Sneider also noted that Daisy Edgar-Jones, who's been gaining momentum thanks to roles in Twisters , Fresh , and Where the Crawdads Sing , is being considered for Jean Grey. 'She's a fantastic actress,' Sneider added, 'and it's hard to imagine anyone finding fault with her casting if she were to be cast as the future Phoenix.' While Marvel hasn't made anything official, the timing makes sense. Kevin Feige has made it clear that mutants are on the horizon, saing: 'I think you will see that continues in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you might recognize. Right after that, the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men. Again, [it's] one of those dreams come true. We finally have the X-Men back.' Behind the camera, Thunderbolts * director Jake Schreier is reportedly helming the project, which is a solid choice! Thunderbolts* was a great freakin' movie. The X-Men haven't had a proper live-action movie since The Dark Phoenix fizzled out at the box office in 2019, followed by the underwhelming The New Mutants . Since then, fans have been speculating when and how the mutants would be folded into the MCU. Feige is reportedly telling colleagues that he has 'a 10-year plan for the [X-Men],' which includes theatrical films, streaming series, and team-up appearances. If true, Marvel is clearly playing the long game—and starting with a compelling, high-caliber cast could give the new X-Men saga the strong foundation it needs. No release date has been confirmed, but it's widely expected the X-Men reboot will launch sometime after Avengers: Secret Wars, marking the beginning of a new storytelling era for the MCU. What do you think about Colman Domingo and Daisy Edgar-Jones possibly being up for the roles of Professor X and Jean Grey?
