X-Men: Bryan Cranston Allegedly Eyed to be the New Charles Xavier

Geek Feed2 days ago

Rumors were flying around that Marvel may have wanted a POC to play the part of the new Charlie Xavier for the MCU, but it's possible they could be sticking to keeping him Caucasian.
According to @MyTimeToShineH, Marvel is allegedly looking at Bryan Cranston ( Breaking Bad ) to be the new leader of the X-Men. We already know he can play the bald look, but it's curious exactly what kind of Xavier he can deliver, seeing that he can either be ridiculously evil or all-around goofy.
Admittedly, we have to take this news with a grain of salt, seeing that MTTSH has had missteps in the past, but they've also reported some true things as well.
Personally, I was in the camp that wanted to revamp the origins of Professor X and Magneto so that they better exemplified more recent issues on discrimination. A popular fancast was for Giancarlo Esposito (surprisingly also in Breaking Bad ) to be Xavier and Denzel Washington to be the new Magneto—with Magneto's origin of being a holocaust survivor being switched to him surviving another kind of race war.
There are some who think that changing Magneto's origin is a delicate matter, but there are some who believe that, to stay relevant, his origin could be changed so that the core issue is still discrimination—which was also at the heart of his holocaust survivor story.
I mean, if they wanted Magneto to be alive around that time, he would have to be incredibly old in the 2020s; and you can only go so far with the 'his powers stop his aging' or 'he's a time-traveller' storyline.
Then again, I am just spit-balling here. For now, we have no idea when the proper X-Men reboot is going to be, but fans are expecting it after the events of Avengers: Secret Wars which comes out in 2027.

Sorry Marvel Fans, Black Panther Game Cancelled

It was back in 2023 when it was announced that a Black Panther game was in the works, but it looks like that won't be happening at EA anymore. According to IGN, a recent round of layoffs at EA has led to the cancellation of the Black Panther game, and the closing down of the studio that was working on it, Cliffhanger Games. Not much has been known about the game, but it does come from developers who had worked at Monolith Games while they were making the also-cancelled Wonder Woman game. I even speculated that they were retooling their WW title for BP , but it looks like both projects went down the drain. As far as we know, Black Panther was supposed to be a single-player, open-world, action game. Though this Panther may not be able to get his title, the character is playable in Marvel Rivals as well as the upcoming game Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra which is expected to come out sometime next year. Despite the closing of Cliffhanger, EA is still adamant that its partnership with Marvel will continue. Panther was one of a three-game deal which also includes Iron Man as well as another unannounced title. As far as their deal with Marvel goes, the e-mail from EA Entertainment president Laura Miele read, 'Our partnership with Marvel remains strong and our multi-title, long-term collaboration continues.' No specific release date has been announced for Rise of Hydra , but fans can expect it to come out sometime next year. Marvel Rivals is now playable for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5.

Jenna Ortega Says It's Patronizing to be Known for Playing Wednesday

It's no mystery that Jenna Ortega's breakout role was Wednesday , but she had been trying her hand at getting more mature roles even before she was cast as the icon of goth culture with projects like X and Miller's Girl . As it turns out, Ortega has been feeling 'unhappy' about the sudden success of Wednesday , and says it's been tough for her to be taken seriously since she's playing a schoolgirl despite being in her 20s. In a recent talk with Harper's Bazaar, Ortega says: '… Ater the show and trying to figure everything out, I was an unhappy person… After the pressure, the attention — as somebody who's quite introverted, that was so intense and so scary.' For context, Wednesday was such a breakout hit that it managed to get more views than the last season of Stranger Things . Now the actress is expecting to play Wednesday Addams for a few more years, but it's going to be tough on her since the role is for a pretty young girl, and being short, Ortega is already kind of put into a box. Ortega continues: 'You know, it's like how you're dressed in the schoolgirl costume… There's just something about it that's very patronizing. Also, when you're short, people are already physically looking down on you… girls, if they don't stay as this perfect image of how they were first introduced to you, then it's 'Ah, something's wrong. She's changed. She sold her soul.' But you're watching these women at the most pivotal times in their lives; they're experimenting because that's what you do.' For now, Ortega is still thankful for her global fans, but she's trying her best to 'give back to them' while at the same time finding projects that are 'creatively fulfilling' for her. Catch Ortega back in Wednesday when Season 2 comes out Aug. 6 on Netflix.

Fans are Convinced Marvel is Going to Kill Off Thor in Recent Post from Chris Hemsworth

With Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans bowing out of the MCU after Endgame , it was Chris Hemsworth who was left behind to keep reprising Thor for Marvel Studios. With him expected to make an appearance in Doomsday , a lot of fans are convinced that this could be Hemsworth's last time as the God of Thunder because of a recent statement he made. Hemsworth (via @CultureCrave) wrote: 'Playing Thor has been one of the greatest honors of my life. For the last 15 years I've held Mjolnir and then Stormbreaker as the God of Thunder, but what made it truly special… was sharing it with all of you. Your passion, your cheers, and your love for this character have meant everything to me' 'Thank you for making my journey through the MCU unforgettable.. Next up, Doomsday!' At this point, everyone was already convinced that this means that they could be killing him off in the movie. Fans have replied with, 'Ya he's getting cooked ,' and, ' Oh he's not coming back after Doomsday.' With all of his other co-stars having moved on, it would make sense for Hemsworth to drop out of the MCU eventually. After all, he did go public with a diagnosis of him being susceptible to Alzheimer's disease, and it's possible he could be taking the time to process that. Personally, I was just hoping that they kept him around in a limited role. Thor eventually takes the place of Odin in the comics, and it would have been great if Hemsworth could just stick around in a chair ruling Asgard and being mentor to a new Thor. For now, fans wait for Avengers: Doomsday which comes out Dec. 18, 2026.
