Avengers: Doomsday update leaves Marvel movie fans bitterly disappointed

Daily Record23-05-2025
Disney has made a crucial decision around the upcoming features Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been left reeling after Disney announced a significant delay to the release of two highly anticipated Avengers films.
Avengers: Doomsday, initially slated for release on May 1, 2026, has been pushed back to December 18, 2026, while its follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars, has been delayed from May 7, 2027, to December 17, 2027.

According to insiders, the delays are due to the massive scale of the productions, with the studio opting for a longer timeframe to bring their ambitious vision to life.

Additionally, Disney has chosen to release the films in December, a strategy that has proven successful in the past with films like Spider-Man: No Way Home.
However, the news has been met with disappointment from Marvel fans, who took to social media to express their frustration.
One fan wrote: "No way! No one saw this coming right?" while another commented, "honestly f--k marvel atp we all know these movies are gonna have lack of effort put into them and is just going to be full to the brim of fan service."
Others reminisced about the franchise's heyday, with one fan posting: "Take me back to 2019 when marvel was going back to back," while another wrote: "That's a long wait for something that already feels like it wrapped years ago."
Marvel enthusiasts have rallied together to discuss the potential benefits of a delay for the franchise, reports the Mirror US.

One fan expressed relief on social media: "Yesss pls take the time and cook a good product. Never been more happy about a delay. Was worried itt was gonna look s--t coz of the timeline."
Another supporter commented: "I'm completely fine with that, having this movie being completely rushed to get to that date and end up being really awful is the worst choice, delaying is the best decision for MCU to do for this movie."
A different user suggested a longer postponement: "It should've been longer, with a very tight production time they have right now i don't think they will even achieve the best possible quality by december."

The announcement of the cast at San Diego Comic Con was met with excitement from Marvel fans.
The original X-Men are set to return, featuring Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique) and Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler).

They will be joined by Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), and Robert Downey Jr., who previously played Tony Stark/Iron Man but will now take on the role of Dr Doom.

Disney and Universal dethroned as top theme parks by little-known rival

In a big win for a small-town Tennessee treasure, Dollywood has been crowned the best amusement park in the US for the second year in a row. TripAdvisor's annual list, based on thousands of traveler reviews, ranks Dollywood above giants like Disney's Magic Kingdom and Universal's Islands of Adventure. 'We don't provide the best guest experience in the country to try to win these awards. We do it because it is the right thing to do,' said Dollywood president Eugene Naughton. 'This award from TripAdvisor is humbling though, because it is derived from reviews left by our actual guests describing their time here at our parks and resorts.' Disney's Magic Kingdom came in second once again, with Hollywood Studios landing in fourth. But despite Disney's enormous crowds — the Orlando parks draw up to 58 million guests a year, compared to Dollywood's 3 million — it was the Smoky Mountains park that won visitors' hearts. Knoebels Amusement Resort in Pennsylvania jumped from eighth to third place, followed by Universal's Islands of Adventure, Fun Spot America, and Silver Dollar City. Whale's Tale Waterpark in New Hampshire cracked the top 10, nudging out Busch Gardens. Dollywood defeated Disney and Universal theme parks for the second year in a row TripAdvisor reviewers praised Dollywood not only for its rides but for its warmth, affordability, and charm. One visitor described it as 'a place to celebrate Dolly Parton's life,' blending Southern hospitality with thrill rides and family fun. Tickets to Dollywood range from $92 to $132, with water park access available for an additional $10. Meanwhile, some Disney fans are pushing back against the rankings — and recent park changes. Gavin Doyle, founder of Disney news site called Disneyland 'the most charming and impressive theme park resort in the US,' and questioned why it didn't make the top list. 'Dollywood is a great small theme park... but Walt Disney World delivers a great vacation experience at impressive scale,' he told Daily Mail. Meanwhile, Forbes also named Dollywood the top US employer for women, based on surveys of more than 140,000 women across large companies. 'We are proud of the ways we've empowered women across our organization — from leadership development to flexible scheduling and mentorship programs,' said Dollywood vice president of human resources Susan Loveday. Disney World has faced backlash from fans who were furious over its price hikes and ride removals Disney has faced criticism for high prices and the axing of rides. One guest was furious after paying $1,394.91 for a 'bargain' day out at Disney with his family of four. Fans also criticised the park for its decision to replace Star Wars: Launch Bay with a new experience called The Magic of Disney Animation at Hollywood Studios. Fans have also been grieving the loss of the Muppet Vision 3D show and the removal of Tom Sawyer Island in Frontierland. It is to make room for a highly anticipated Cars land, but it has made guests believe Disney is 'tearing apart' Magic Kingdom.

Moment Spider-Man film crews perform tank stunt on streets of Glasgow

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) MOVIE lovers were in for a treat as film crews performed a tank stunt for the new Spider-Man flick on the streets of Glasgow. Bothwell Street in the city centre has been transformed into downtown New York for the latest instalment of the masked web-slinger's story. Crews working on the big-budget Marvel movie spent the sunny Saturday prepping an intense stunt involving a TANK. Several of the armoured vehicles being used for the movie have been parked along the street. One of them was set up with a huge scaffolding structure around it for stunt doubles to be harnessed in and attached to cables allowing them to perform the iconic flips and jumps Spidey is well-known for. But the stunt that had the public stopping in their tracks was a chase scene which saw cars thrown into the air. A huge crowd lined the bottom of Bothwell Street as the stunt was prepared. There was a sense of excitement as location crews ushered onlookers behind barriers and told them the stunt was about to start. When the director could be heard yelling action, a black film car raced ahead of the tank as it rumbled down Bothwell Street. A taxi and a van attached to hydraulic ramps were thrown into the air as the war machine sped past, with punters gasping in excitement as the vehicles were left suspended in the air. A high-tech drone with a camera attached was zooming overhead to get aerial shots of the stunt. There were some cheers and applause after the stunt ended, bringing some excitement to both movie fans and people going about their day. In later scenes, a stunt double for Tom Holland was spotted on top of the tank as it sped along the street. Glasgow is starting to resemble the Big Apple for Tom Holland's latest MCU appearance. Historic street signs have been covered with decor from Manhattan. Hot dog carts and newsstands are scattered among the streets. American adverts for flats to rent and insurance firms are even plastered over buildings on the street. 8 Tom Holland's stunt double Credit: Splash 8 NYPD cars are being stored on West Campbell Street Credit: John Kirkby 8 Rows of iconic New York yellow cabs have been brought in for the movie Credit: John Kirkby 8 Glasgow has been transformed into New York Credit: John Kirkby Movie vehicles are also being stored on West Campbell Street. The road is lined with an ambulance and New York Fire Department pick-up truck. There are also scores of iconic New York yellow taxis and NYPD police cars. It has brought movie-fever to Glasgow once again, with some punters dressed as Spider-Man putting in an appearance. Holland, 29, returns as the titular character, with real-life girlfriend Zendaya, 28, as Michelle Jones "MJ" Watson, Jon Berntha, 48, portraying The Punisher, and Charlie Cox, 42, as Daredevil. Filming is set to move further along into Merchant City after Wednesday, August 13, with scenes are also expected to be shot on Glassford Street and Virginia Street. It is just the latest lot of filming taking place in Glasgow. Earlier this year, Hollywood hunk Glen Powell filmed scenes for sci-fi flick Ghost Writer on Bothwell Street. It is his second time in the city in a year, as he filmed on the exact same street for the remake of 80's hit Running Man in November. World War Z, which starred Brad Pitt, 61, previously used George Square to represent Philadelphia, while the city was also transformed into Gotham City for Batgirl and The Batman. And the Merchant City got turned into 1960's New York for a parade chase scene in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
