A TV insider said: "This is a bit of a coup for the Bake Off because Jojo is currently one of the most talked about young stars on TV right now. "She's barely had time to catch her breath, leaving CBB last month amid huge media attention and heading straight into another huge show this month. "It's also a fantastic gig for her because although she already has a fanbase over here, the cookery contest also introduces her to a wider British audience. "Plus she got plenty of experience of cooking in front of the cameras while she was on Celebrity Big brother, though this time she won't have hunky Chris to distract her." Jojo actually became famous for her dancing/baking Tiktoks on the social media site, though they're unlikely to help her much when she's doing it for real. The celebrity version of the Bake Off, whose participants have yet to be confirmed by C4, is being made just before filming of the "civilian" version. Jojo might end up wishing she was back in the house with Mickey Rorrke... The show kicks off this summer with Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond returning to host as well as Paul Hollywood coming back to give the celebs some serious scrutiny in the tent. Channel 4 star Prue Leith has stepped back from all GBBO specials, with cooking expert, and pal, Caroline Waldegrave filling her shoes. Last year, The Sun revealed how Prue had made the decision to step back from the Great British Bake Off specials and focus on the regular series. Channel 4 previously confirmed Prue's close friend Caroline would be taking over her role. Caroline, 72, is a former managing director of Leiths School of Food & Wine, which she bought from Prue in the mid-90s. Married to former Tory politician William Waldegrave, Lady Caroline has also co-written several successful cookery books.

GBBO's Prue Leith's 'horrific' experience 'put her off TV' for years

GBBO's Prue Leith's 'horrific' experience 'put her off TV' for years Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith has admitted there was one particular experience that put her off working in television for years before she changed her mind Prue Leith has said one experience put her off TV work for years Prue Leith has confessed that a past experience deterred her from pursuing a career in television for many years. Despite being a household name today, there was a period when Great British Bake Off judge Prue, 85, shied away from TV work following a unpleasant stint. ‌ Speaking to Candis, she revealed that her time presenting a show for Tyne Tees, aimed at women at home, left her with no desire to return to full-time television work, except for occasional appearances, reports Bristol Live. ‌ Prue elaborated: "I had hated television ever since my horrific appearance at Tyne Tees. I was presenting an afternoon show aimed at women at home. "With no previous presenting experience, it would be fair to say I wasn't a natural. I was very bad at it and didn't enjoy it at all. "I think it died a death. That experience put me off so I didn't do any more telly for years. I was occasionally asked to do the odd thing and chose not to accept." Article continues below "I limited my TV appearances to a couple of guest appearances in documentaries during the 1980s on topics that interested me." Prue Leith is now a staple of cooking TV However, Prue's perspective on television work reportedly shifted in the early 2000s following the death of her husband Rayne. In the wake of this personal tragedy, she joined the presenting team on the Great British Menu, a role which Prue admitted she "loved" and remained in for over a decade. ‌ Reflecting on her television resurgence, Prue has expressed surprise at her popularity across the pond. She shared: "I've been visiting New York and LA in the last two years to do my own show. "If I walked through Chelsea in New York, I'm stopped all the time because they get a double dose of the series, both US and the UK original versions. I get asked if I am that lady from the baking show." Prue has been a mainstay on Bake Off since 2017, but it was recently announced that she would not be participating in the celebrity edition of the programme, choosing instead to spend more time with her husband John Playfair, whom she married in 2016, and discussing how travel has changed for her. Article continues below Prue Leith and John Playfair Speaking on The Travel Diaries podcast, Prue said: "I haven't got much longer. I'm 85 and I want to spend as much time as I can with him. "If we are filming abroad, or like next week, we're going to New York, because I've got to publicise the American baking show, then I'm now old enough for my agent to say 'I'm sorry, but she has to ring her husband, because she's 85, she needs someone to carry the bags'."

Prue Leith's heartbreaking letter from late husband on his deathbed

Prue Leith's heartbreaking letter from late husband on his deathbed Dame Prue Leith married her first husband Rayne Kruger in 1974, but the property developed died, aged 80, in 2002, leading Prue to fear she'd 'lost happiness' Dame Prue Leith says she received a letter from her husband after he died (Image: BBC ) Dame Prue Leith received a heartbreaking letter from her late husband, Rayne Kruger, on his deathbed. The Great British Bake Off judge and renowned cook Prue Leith tied the knot with writer and property developer Rayne in 1974. Rayne, who was 20 years Prue's senior, died aged 80 in 2002. ‌ Writing in The Times, Prue described Rayne as the "most important influence" in her adult life. Prue credits him for his unwavering support in the establishment of her catering enterprise, Leith's School of Food and Wine, and her restaurant ventures. ‌ The couple also shared children Daniel - a former Conservative MP - and film-maker Li-Da together. Prue described Rayne as a "fairly reclusive" man who was "most content" around her family and old friends, reports Gloucestershire Live. Prue shared her thoughts on Rayne, saying: "When he died, I thought I'd lost happiness for good, but he left me a loving note ending with the advice to 'call on the courage I know you have to confront your new future with a level eye and find happiness in it'. Dame Prue Leith has spoken about her first husband (Image: Channel 4 ) Article continues below "Which I have certainly done. I owe a lot of my success to him and will always be grateful for those wonderful years." In 2016, Prue entered into another marriage with John Playfair, a retired fashion designer. Initially, reports suggest that they maintained separate households before ultimately constructing a modern home on Prue's Moreton-in-Marsh estate in Gloucestershire. Prue has previously revealed their home is much smaller than the magnificent nine-bedroom manor house she lived in for decades previously. And while Prue admits she loved the property, she feared she would "run out of money" paying for its upkeep. ‌ She stated: "Because the price of property in the Cotswolds has risen so much I could sell it, and with the money my children could each get a house, and I could build this one. It seemed silly not to do it." Dame Prue and John have been married since 2016 (Image: Getty Images ) Spending decades in her former impressive residence, Prue admitted that whilst she cherished the property, she worried about "running out of money" for its upkeep. ‌ The culinary star, aged 84, also offered a candid glimpse into life with her husband John who is seven years younger than her. The couple's home features a unique "banishment room", designed for moments when one partner's snoring becomes too intense for the other. Prue explained this setup as having a spare bedroom for times when one of them snores to the point the other "can't bear it". Having launched her television career in the 1970s with a show geared towards homemakers, Prue went on to judge Great British Menu before exiting in 2016 to join Paul Hollywood as a co-judge on Bake Off, succeeding Mary Berry. Article continues below Fans can look forward to seeing more of Prue with her new programme, Prue Leith's Cotswold Kitchen, airing at 11.25am on ITV One. On the show, Prue prepares dishes including herby pea pancakes with sauerkraut for Tim Spector, while John visits Adam Henson at Cotswold Park Farm for an insight into the farm's rare livestock breeds. Prue will also be taking a pricey restaurant dish and showing viewers how they can make a low-cost version at home.
