12 'notable' quarterbacks in the 2025 Manning Passing Academy

12 'notable' quarterbacks in the 2025 Manning Passing Academy This summer, in its annual fashion, the Manning Passing Academy will provide a unique opportunity for college quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends to continue developing their skill sets ahead of the 2025 season. However, as we all know, the quarterbacks attending receive the most coverage on a yearly basis. With the event set for June 26-29, the Manning family, led by Archie, Peyton, Eli, and Cooper own and operate the camp at Nicholls State in Thibodaux, Louisiana, and for those unaware of the camp's background and overall function, it's not just for quarterbacks to work on their basic fundamentals. "The Manning's are always the first to arrive and the last to leave. The concept of this camp sprang from the concern that even the most basic fundamental skills of throwing and catching a football were lacking during a youngster's developmental years (grades 8 - 12)." "It was this concern that motivated the Manning's to bring together some of the most successful and brightest coaches and players from the professional, college, and high school ranks each summer in Louisiana. And although the Manning name has been practically synonymous with the quarterback position for almost 60 years ...it's not just for QBs." For this article, however, we're focusing on "notable" quarterbacks participating in this year's event, led by several names that are early Heisman Trophy favorites. According to USATOP100, the following are the most notable quarterbacks participating in the 2025 Manning Passing Academy, including eight quarterbacks from the SEC. For Texas A&M, starting quarterback Marcel Reed has been working diligently this offseason to improve his pocket passing skills, and his participation in the Academy this summer is another step toward becoming a complete quarterback for the Aggies in 2025. How LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier's 2024 stats compared to Joe Burrow's 2018 season

How LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier's 2024 stats compared to Joe Burrow's 2018 season LSU football quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was solid in 2024. In his first year as a starter, Nussmeier led LSU to ranked wins over Ole Miss and South Carolina. When he was at his best, he dazzled with NFL-level throws. But like there are for any year one starter, there were struggles. Nussmeier was inconsistent in late October and early November as LSU hit a three-game skid. The Tigers offense struggled coming out of the half at Texas A&M, and those struggles continued into the Alabama and Florida contests. Nussmeier elected to return for his fifth year of college football and will be back in 2025. The story isn't different from Joe Burrow's first year as a starter at LSU. Burrow's 2018 season had high highs, but there was room to grow. Burrow returned in 2019 and posted one of the best seasons we've ever seen. LSU fans are hoping a similar fate could be in store for Nussmeier. Nussmeier ranks second in Heisman trophy odds, only trailing Texas' Arch Manning. Here's a look at how Nussmeier's 2024 season compared to Burrow's 2018. Garrett Nussmeier's 2024 season vs. Joe Burrow's 2018 campaign Stat Garrett Nussmeier (2024) Joe Burrow (2018) Completion % 64.0% 57.8% Passing Yards 4,043 2,890 Yards per Attempt 7.7 7.7 Touchdowns 29 16 Interceptions 12 5 TD/INT Ratio 2.42 3.20 PFF Pass Grade 81.3 79.9 Pressure-to-Sack % 9.8% 25.7% QBR 79.0 78.4 PPA/play .482 .372 The similarities are eerie. Burrow and Nussmeier both averaged 7.7 yards per attempt. The QBR ratings are separated by less than a point. The PFF passing grades aren't that different either. Joe Burrow was better at protecting the football, with only five picks on the year. But Nussmeier's sack avoidance mitigates the turnover differences. Nussmeier's passing yards total is higher, but that's due to the style of offense and not the individual player. These numbers are promising for Nussmeier's 2025 campaign.

What odds does BetMGM give LSU's Garrett Nussmeier to win the Heisman?

What odds does BetMGM give LSU's Garrett Nussmeier to win the Heisman? LSU football is expecting a big year from quarterback Garrett Nussmeier in 2025. It's Nussmeier's fifth-year in college football after taking over the starting job last fall. Results were mixed, but there was more good than bad. Nussmeier finished 2024 ranked No. 13 nationally in ESPN's QBR. With 4,052 passing yards and 29 touchdowns, he was one of the most productive quarterbacks in the country. Nussmeier elected to return, signaling hope for what 2025 can be for LSU. LSU has a history of fifth-year quarterbacks having breakout campaigns. Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels both won the Heisman trophy as fifth-year quarterbacks at LSU. While it may be unfair, Nussmeier is going to hear those comparisons throughout the offseason. Just like Nussmeier's first year as a starter, Daniels and Burrow didn't immediately shine when they took the reigns. It's easy to see a similar narrative when looking at Nussmeier. What chance does Nussmeier have of winning the Heisman? Heisman trophy betting odds -- BetMGM Player Team Opening Odds Garrett Nussmeier LSU +850 Arch Manning Texas +900 Cade Klubnik Clemson +1100 Drew Allar Penn State +1300 Nico Iamaleava Tennessee +1300 Jeremiah Smith Ohio State +1300 LaNorris Sellers South Carolina +1800 Dante Moore Oregon +2000 Carson Beck Miami +2000 Julian Sayin Ohio State +2000 DJ Lagway Florida +2500 John Mateer Oklahoma +2500 Austin Simmons Ole Miss +3500 Miller Moss Louisville +3500 Kevin Jennings SMU +3500 Gunner Stockton Georgia +3500 Takeaways Nussmeier is leading the way, just ahead of Arch Manning. That should make LSU fans feel good about their quarterback in 2025. Nussmeier has all the tools to launch his Heisman campaign. Coming in at No. 3 is Clemson's Cade Klubnik. Nussmeier and Klubnik will face off in week one.
