One of the most 'underrated' regions offers the top must-do activity for holidaymakers this summer, located on a picturesque island just off Scotland's coast. A list of the best staycation experiences in the UK was compiled by British travel expert and author, Richard Madden, along with Sykes Holiday Cottages, unveiling an essential bucket list for holiday-goers. A breathtaking drive along the Isle of Arran's coast in Scotland has emerged as the top choice, according to a survey of 2,000 adults about their staycation dreams. Often dubbed 'Scotland in miniature', the Isle of Arran boasts a range of spectacular landscapes, with the 109km Arran Coastal Way providing views of the coastline, charming villages, and mountain peaks. Journeying around the stunning Isle of Arran presents ample opportunities to discover remnants of Scotland's Gaelic and Norse heritage. It features numerous coastal towns, such as Lochranza and Kildonan, where you can enjoy a walk on beautiful beaches and explore ancient castle ruins. Scotland is renowned for its rich culture and history, which you'll experience at every turn when exploring Arran. Things to do in Arran Hiking The breathtaking natural landscape of Arran offers a wealth of opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts, particularly those who enjoy hiking. Brodick, the island's capital and primary point of entry for most visitors, is home to the Brodick and Goatfell range. This impressive collection of jagged granite peaks is dominated by Goatfell, the highest mountain on the island, which is often considered the easiest to ascend. Lochranza, located in the north, serves as the starting point for several picturesque coastal walks. During low tide, you might even spot some seals. And now he has been unveiled as a trendy model who has a fair few acting credits to his name as well. He starred in Danish TV series Salsa from 2023 to 2025 as character Karl where he acted alongside the likes of Safina Coster-Waldau and Filippa Navarana. Before this he worked on two other projects - short films called The Shepherd in 2023 and Parat in 2022. He has also worked as crew on other Danish projects including series Kometernes jul and was a runner for the series Tinka og sjælens spejl. Oliver is currently signed to Lindberg Management an agency which 'represents some of the most renowned and talented Scandinavian and European actors, directors and scriptwriters.' His last Instagram post is from 2024 when he shared a series of stylish snaps with pals in London. Further back on his feed he shared some of his modelling shots including a sleek campaign for Mismo Bags. The new lovebirds are yet to post each other on their social medias and it is not known when they began dating. Wimbledon was their first public appearance together. The Night Manager meets Slow Horses: Inside Richard Madden and Gugu Mbatha-Raw's new thriller series Trinity
No matter how many thriller series we watch, we're always in the mood for another one and Netflix's newly announced series Trinity, sounds right up our street. Announced yesterday (24 June) the new show will feature Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Richard Madden, as they team up with the creator of Bodyguard to create a high stakes thriller all about government, secrets and betrayal. Ok, so it's giving us big espionage vibes, similar to two of our other favourite shows Slow Horses and The Night Manager. Sounds intriguing? Well here's everything you need to know about it. Announced on X yesterday the official Netflix account shared a succinct plot of what we the series is about, which is as follows: "A heroic Naval Officer becomes involved with the charismatic Secretary of Defence, only to discover he may be at the heart of a dangerous conspiracy." Gugu Mbatha-Raw will take on the role of the naval officer Commander Katherine Decker, who is second in command on board the USS Kansas, which is a nuclear submarine, and jsut so happens to be one of the deadliest weapons on the planet. Meanwhile Richard Madden will play Secretary of Defence Webb Preston, who with a background in technology makes him stand out as a threat from other politicians. The show is created, written and executive produced by Jed Mercurio, who you will likely know as the creator of BBC's Bodyguard, which also starred Richard Madden. As previously mentioned leading the cast will be Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Commander Katherine Decker. Gugu shared the update of the new show on her Instagram yesterday, calling it "exciting news". You'll likely recognise Gugu from her roles in the series Surface, The Morning Show, Black Mirror and Loki. Also starring is Richard Madden as Secretary of Defence Webb Preston. You'll recognise Richard from his role as David Budd in the Bodyguard, as well as Robb Stark in Game of Thrones and from roles in movies such as Eternals and Cinderella. So far no other cast has been announced for the role.
