Telangana Congress president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud and AICC in-charge of state affairs Meenakshi Natarajan will leave in a special train from Hyderabad on Monday, along with a delegation of Backward Classes leaders, to New Delhi to participate in the dharna seeking 42% reservations to Backward Classes. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will lead the dharna at Jantar Mantar on August 6, demanding Presidential assent for the Backward Classes reservation Bills passed by the Telangana Assembly. The Congress has planned a series of protests from August 5 to 7. Meanwhile, the Janahita Padayatra of Mr. Mahesh Goud and Meenakshi Natarajan continued in Adilabad district. Addressing a roadside meeting in Khanapur on Sunday evening, Ms. Meenakshi said the foot march is being organised by drawing inspiration from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's historic pan-India 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'. It symbolises Congress's ideology of social justice, inclusive growth and upliftment of marginalised sections, she said. She said the Congress's ideals are rooted in unity and social inclusion as against the BJP's divisive politics. The holistic and inclusive development model of Telangana set an example for other States to emulate, she said, listing out a plethora of flagship welfare schemes of the Telangana government. The Congress government has sanctioned title deeds to tribal farmers under the RoFR Act and initiated concrete measures for the empowerment of tribal people and marginalised sections of society, she said, referring to the recently passed 42% BC quota bills. Mr. Mahesh Kumar Goud, Ministers D. Anasuya (Seethakka) and Jupally Krishna Rao and others spoke.

Post Pahalgam, need a PM like Indira: Telangana CM Revanth

Hyderabad: Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday said that after the Pahalgam terrorist attack , it was felt that a prime minister should be like Indira Gandhi . She not only protected the country but fought a war with Pakistan and broke it into twos. "One part is Bangladesh, and the other is Pakistan," he said, addressing a public meeting in Achampet assembly constituency of Telangana. "Indiramma proved it (Pakistan can be defeated) 54 years ago." However, he chose not to refer to any other prime minister in his speech and shifted his focus to the recently launched Soura Giri Jala Vikas Yojana, under which solar power pumps are distributed to tribal farmers. "We want to make tribal farmers live with self-respect by doing agriculture in patta lands given to them under the RoFR Act," he said. "We will provide free of cost solar-based pumpsets, sprinklers, and solar panels to them to not only do agriculture but also produce solar energy and sell it to the govt. " Attacking the previous BRS govt, he said, "The former chief minister of the previous govt never visited any tribal village and never interacted with the tribals. In fact, tribal women were tied to trees and beaten up when they tried agriculture in their patta lands. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Perdagangkan CFD Emas dengan Broker Tepercaya IC Markets Mendaftar Undo The Congress then promised to do justice to them, and now it is implementing this scheme." Revanth also said the vicious campaign being run with ill-gotten wealth on social media by the opposition against the Congress govt would not work in front of the truth. "The truth is that this Indiramma Rajyam is giving fine rice through ration shops to 3.1 crore beneficiaries, waiving off Rs 20,000 crore crop loans of 25 lakh farmers, extending 200 units of free electricity to 50 lakh poor families, and self-help groups of women have been given a 100 MW solar energy production contract and made owners of 600 buses given on hire to RTC."

Telangana launches scheme to make land of 2.30 lakh tribals cultivable

The Telangana government on Monday launched a scheme to enhance the livelihood and income of tribal families in the state. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy launched the "Indira Soura Giri Jala Vikasam" scheme at Macharam in Nagarkurnool district. More than 2.30 lakh tribals farmers will be helped under the scheme to make 6.69 lakh acres of land suitable for cultivation with a 100 per cent subsidy. The state government will provide an irrigation facility with solar power at a cost of Rs 12,600 crore in the next five years. The Chief Minister, along with Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and ministers, released the Nallamalla declaration. He promised that the scheme would open a golden chapter in the lives of tribals. The state government has recognised and vested rights over forest for 2,30,735 Scheduled Tribes covering an extent of 6.69 lakh acres under the RoFR Act, 2006. As the RoFR farmers had long been demanding irrigation facilities for their lands, the Chief Minister on January 10, decided to provide solar pump sets-based irrigation to ST farmers holding RoFR lands with 100 per cent grant under a special scheme on saturation basis with drip irrigation and horticulture plantation. The state government termed it the first initiative of its kind in the country. The Congress government made the provision in the budget for irrigation facilities for RoFR lands. In line with this vision, the government launched a pioneering scheme titled "Indira Soura Giri Jala Vikasam", aimed at the holistic development of RoFR lands. In Macharam village, the scheme will cover an area of 44.5 acres of RoFR land belonging to 27 ST RoFR farmers. The scheme includes comprehensive land development, Installation of off-grid solar pump irrigation systems and horticulture plantation with drip irrigation. The scheme is being implemented for five years from 2025-26 to 2029-30, in convergence with Forest, Energy, PR & RD, RWS, Ground Water and Horticulture Departments. During the current financial year, the government will spend Rs 600 crore to cover 27,184 acres, benefitting 10,000 farmers. For the next four years, the government will allocate Rs 3,000 crore every year to irrigate 1.43 lakh acres, benefiting 50,000 farmers. The Chief Minister said in his speech that the farmers will be given free pump sets. The beneficiaries will get solar power motors in 100 days. He claimed that the state government has so far spent Rs 60,000 crore for the development and welfare of farmers in the state. The Chief Minister also announced that houses will be sanctioned under Indiramma housing scheme to all the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) families in the state on saturation. The government will also provide financial assistance to 1 Lakh ST unemployed youth with a subsidy of Rs.1000 crores for their self-employment under the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam Scheme.

CM to launch Indiramma Giri Jala Vikasam for tribals

The stage is all set for the launch of another innovative programme — Indira Soura Giri Jala Vikasam. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will formally launch the programme in Macharam village of Amrabad mandal in Nagarkurnool district on Monday. The scheme envisages provision of solar powered irrigation to 2.1 lakh tribal farmers holding titles on six lakh acres under the Recognition of Forest Rights (RoFR) Act over the next five years. Giri Jala Vikasam scheme has been conceived with a view to uplifting the economic and living standards of tribal farmers who were granted land rights under the RoFR Act in 2006 enacted by the then UPA government. The scheme is aimed at developing land and horticulture by providing solar powered irrigation facilities to tribal farmers on 100% subsidy and would be implemented on a saturation mode over five years starting this financial year. The scheme was conceived as it was found that over two lakh tribal farmers lacked basic amenities, irrigation facilities and livelihood measures for improving productivity due to non-availability of power. It was accordingly decided to take up comprehensive development of RoFR lands by providing off-grid irrigation facilities through solar pumpsets. The State government recently sanctioned ₹12,600 crore for the implementation of the scheme recently for distribution of pumpsets worth ₹6 lakh each to beneficiaries. The Chief Minister will formally launch the scheme and distribute solar pumpsets to eligible beneficiaries and address a public meeting. He would then leave for his native village Kondareddypalle to offer special prayers in Lord Anjaneyaswamy temple there before returning to the city in the evening.
