Netflix adds 'emotionally haunting' biopic with Zac Efron's best performance
The drama is worlds away from Efron's iconic Disney roles. One of Zac Efron's most captivating performances is now streaming on Netflix, and it's worlds away from his light-hearted High School Musical days. The Hollywood heartthrob stars in R-rated sports drama The Iron Claw, alongside the talented Jeremy Allen White (The Bear), Harris Dickinson (Babygirl) and Stanley Simons (Rocky's). First released in the UK in 2024, the biopic is inspired by the devastating story of the Von Erich brothers, who made history in the 1980s wrestling world. Efron stars as Kevin, one of the brothers who made waves as a pro-wrestler, with Dickinson portraying David, White playing Kerry and Simons as Mike. While their sport took great importance in their lives, the Von Erichs were plagued by tragedy outside the ring. The family was struck by a series of tragic deaths, which became known as the 'Von Erich Curse.' This drama, directed by Sean Durkin, delves into their success as sportsmen as well as their "cursed" personal lives. It currently sits at an 89% Rotten Tomatoes score, with audiences rating it a stellar 94%. Critics raved about the biopic in their consensus, stating: "Powerfully acted and profoundly sad, The Iron Claw honours its fact-based story with a dramatization whose compassionate exploration of family ties is just as hard-hitting as its action in the wrestling ring." Viewers have also shared glowing reviews. One fan penned: "It's rare to get such an emotionally powerful movie that's this entertaining and well paced. "On the surface, it looks like a movie about wrestling but it goes so much deeper in to themes pain/loss, purpose, generational sin, family, and the weight of great expectations. Zac Efron delivers his best performance in this film while surrounded by an amazing cast of supporting actors." But don't be fooled by these rave reviews, The Iron Claw is not an easy watch. An IMDb user vouched for its emotional impact, writing: "The Iron Claw is incredible yet devastating. It's an emotionally haunting film that is going to stick with me for a while." Yet another fan took to Google reviews and praised: "A sombre yet explosive, near flawless piece of cinema that is hands down the best sports drama since 2015's Creed!" Meanwhile, a third warned: "Be prepared that it's more sad than uplifting, although that shouldn't deter you from watching. It's well done."

Why San Francisco's Go-To Spot for Matcha Is A Bookstore by the Beach
It's Monday at one p.m. and the bookstore near Ocean Beach is booming with customers. There are elderly folk working through black coffee in the 'analog space,' a four-top table by the window. But it's the menu at the bookstore's cafe that gets all the attention. Local hitmakers Loquat, Little Bee Bakery, Dynamo Donut, and Florecita Panaderia all grace the pastry case. It's Rocky's Matcha — the only place in the city to serve the SoCal-made green tea purveyor — that earned the business a huge fanbase, though. The contrast from summer 2025 to 2022 when Blackbird moved to Irving Street is stark. Each weekend, there are long lines heading up Irving Street. More and more, a miasma of people swamp between Hook Fish Co. and Blackbird, bumping across the road. It's almost a testament to how popular this stretch of the neighborhood is these days. There's a yoga studio full of people, also in the middle of Garfield's least favorite seventh of the week. Another tipping point: the official christening of the Great Highway as Sunset Dunes in April 2025. Owner Kathryn Graham is thoughtful and slow-going in her speaking. She says the first thing that let her know her cafe was getting traction was the olive oil spelt cake. The subtle pastry blew up on TikTok. Her friends and staff let her know. Then, the matcha hive showed up. Rocky's has more than 20,000 followers on TikTok, ground zero for the finely milled green tea powder's upsurge in attention. Blackbird's cafe manager had a run-in with the Rocky's team. That fateful encounter led to Blackbird as the sole outpost for Rocky's tea. Repeat customers now come every week for the tough-to-find Los Angeles matcha. Some trek from Potrero Hill and Bayshore to get a taste of that ceremonial grade good good. 'Rocky just connected with us on this vibe level,' Graham says. 'And we thought his matcha was so amazing. We did not realize he had this massive TikTok following and that those people would find us.' Lauren Hanussak The explosion in this Sunset shop's popularity overlaps with matcha's second great global renaissance in the 21st century. In San Francisco, that looks a lot like SoMa specialty cafe Telescope Coffee launching its own tinned ceremonial matcha. It looks a lot like Cafe Shoji's matcha einspänners spawning 40-minute waits. Unfortunately, it also looks like a global shortage is driving prices up for local players, including Le Dix-Sept. Per a report from Mizuba Tea, an importer with 12 years of buying from Japan, this shortage is a 'historic moment' that has seen the country go from a two percent slice of total tea export to a boom crop, causing field turnover as everyone scrambles to keep up. Lauren Hanussak Graham, with none of that on her radar, opened the original Blackbird on Judah Street in 2017, sans cafe attachment. She used to live in New York, where she worked with a group of activists to open the bookstore Blue Stockings. After the first election of Donald Trump, she wanted to work on a project like that again, a place for her two young kids and the Outer Sunset broadly. Three Fish Studio left its Irving Street location in 2022, and they reached out to Graham when they decamped. It was twice the size of her shop, and boasted a massive backyard space. It was during that jump that she linked with the team at Four Barrel. There was no Day Moon bakery and cafe at that point, and Trouble Coffee's future was up in the air. She decided to turn part of her new shop into a cafe. In short order, people were coming and spending their whole days hanging out at Blackbird. There is a popular events arm in the space, too, harkening back to those Blue Stockings days. Open mic nights with more than 50 people, pop-ups including Malaysian pastry pop-up Batik and Baker, and children's reading hours are on almost every day. Now with the advent of Sunset Dunes, this airy space full of books and caffeine gets more and more popular all the time. 'I create space, and people fill it,' Graham says. 'What makes it work here is very little to do with me.' Rocky's Ace Hardware in South Hadley to celebrate grand opening with giveaways
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – A family-owned hardware store that underwent new construction at its location in South Hadley is holding a grand opening celebration this weekend. The newly expanded Rocky's Ace Hardware replaced the existing store in the same South Hadley Plaza on Newton Street. The larger 10,000 square-foot building includes a 2,000 square-foot garden center with live plants, soil and supplies. Walgreens closing nearly a dozen of stores across Massachusetts: Here's where The public is invited to attend a family-friendly event on Friday and Saturday with food samples from the grill, power tool demonstrations, games, and giveaways. The traditional Rocky's board cutting to kick off the store opening begins at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. 'We're really excited about this bright new space,' said Rocky's Ace Hardware President Rocco Falcone. 'The updated layout transforms the shopper experience, making it easier for customers to find what they're looking for, and also get some fun new ideas along the way.' Rocky's Ace Hardware is one of the country's largest family-owned Ace Hardware dealers with 50 locations in nine states. Rocky's has been under the same family ownership since opening its first location in Springfield in 1926. WWLP-22News, an NBC affiliate, began broadcasting in March 1953 to provide local news, network, syndicated, and local programming to western Massachusetts. Nearly $13K raised for Dayton Children's by rounding up
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — In 2024, customers checking out at Rocky's Ace Hardware locations in the Dayton area raised nearly $13,000 for children in need. According to Rocky's, $12,902.19 will be donated to Dayton Children's Hospital from company's 'Round Up for Kids' fundraiser. Customers had the opportunity to round-up to the next dollar amount to benefit local hospitals affiliated with the Children's Miracle Network Hospital. Rocco Falcone, president at Rocky's Ace Hardware, said the company is grateful to continue to be a part of supporting CMN each year. 'It's humbling to see how generous our customers are,' said Falcone. 'This money helps fund critical life-saving treatments and innovative research. We hope it also gives patients and families the assurance that their community cares.' Ten locations in the area were included in the total raised for supporting children.
