Texas A&M will now host No. 2 LSU in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon Texas A&M (25-19, 8-12 SEC) was supposed to host No. 2 LSU starting on Friday night, but due to inclement rainy weather in College Station, which worsened in the afternoon, the Aggies and Tigers will now face off in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, which, as we all remember, ended in the Aggies favor against No. 1 Tennessee, which began the Aggies' impressive winning streak. On paper, Texas A&M needs five more conference wins to make it back to the NCAA Tournament, while the Tigers are safely in the postseason with nearly 40 wins on the year. However, as we know, regular season wins are important for tournament seeding, and the Aggies have as good a chance as anyone to make a postseason run. In terms of rest, Texas A&M starting pitcher Ryan Prager should be ready to start the first game tomorrow, followed by Game 2 starter Justin Lamkin, who will take the mound just a couple of months after Game 1 on Saturday afternoon. Texas A&M drops Game 1 in the Lone Star Showdown after falling 2-1 to No. 1 Texas The Texas A&M (24-17, 8-11 SEC) falls in game one of the Cotton Holding Lone Star Showdown, losing 2-1 to No. 1 Texas (35-5, 17-2 SEC) on the road in Austin. It was a game dominated by pitching, with both teams struggling to generate offense until the later innings. Aggie starter Ryan Prager delivered one of his strongest performances in recent memory, holding the opposition scoreless through 5.2 innings. However, the Aggies' offense faltered, reverting to old habits of chasing pitches outside the zone. The clutch hitting that had been a hallmark of their recent success was notably absent. The matchup may have played a role, as the Aggies have historically struggled against left-handed pitchers, a trend that continued tonight.
