SATIS-2 project in Thane (E) will be completed by end September, said Sena (UBT) former MP
Thane: The ambitious second Station Area Traffic Improvement Scheme (SATIS) project under the Smart City initiative for Thane (E) will be completed by the end of September, Shiv Sena (UBT) former MP Rajan Vichare informed following an interaction with municipal officials. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "The work on the installation of five girders, each 4.5 metres long for the flyover—a key connector between the East and West sides of the city—was completed, and the 2.2 km long elevated link road over the tracks is nearing completion. This will help reduce traffic congestion around Thane (E) station soon," said Vichare following a project site visit along with officials early this week. Officials added that although the elevated route of the SATIS-2 will be completed in the next two months, operating the road will take a few more months as the work on the elevated bus deck outside the east station side is yet to be completed. "The work on constructing the deck is progressing, and we have set December end as the target for its opening. Unless the deck is completed and connected to the elevated roads and with the railway bridges at the station, the SATIS-2 project cannot be made operational. Once opened, it will reduce the time taken to travel between Teen Haath Naka and Thane station east to barely five minutes," informed a civic official. The project was approved in 2018 and was included under the Smart City scheme. The foundation stone for the SATIS-2 deck was laid on February 19, 2022, and the work has been progressing in phases. A budget of Rs 298 crore was sanctioned— Rs 261 crore for the project and Rs 39 crore for the portion of the bridge running over the railway tracks. Around 59 pillars have been erected on this route, but the installation of girders was delayed due to a lack of follow-up with the railways for obtaining mega blocks, said Vichare.

Girder launching work of Thane's Kopri railway flyover completed
The installation of girders for the Kopri railway flyover, a key connector between Thane East and Thane West, undertaken by the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) was completed this week, as part of the ongoing Station Area Traffic Improvement Scheme (SATIS) project under the Smart City initiative, officials said on Friday. The critical work on the important stretch over the railway track, which had been pending for almost a year, involved the placement of heavy girders across tracks and was executed using special mega railway blocks. The girder launching work began on July 26 and was completed over multiple nights. To set the stage ready for work, the traffic police set in place vehicle diversions to and from Thane East for eight days, even before the girder installation work began. 'That night, two girders weighing approximately 100 tonnes were lifted and placed across the railway lines. On July 27, another girder weighing 50 tonnes was installed. The final two girders, both weighing 100 tonnes, were launched late on the night of July 29 and successfully installed by early morning on July 30,' a Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) officer associated with the project said on Friday. Traffic on the Kopri flyover was diverted to allow for the safe movement of cranes and equipment. 'A team of 18 engineers and 40 workers carried out the nighttime operations,' the officer added. With the main phase of work now done, traffic congestion in the Kopri area is expected to reduce. The remaining construction work will continue until August 4 without further traffic diversions, officials said. With the railway section of the work now complete, the rest of the project is expected to gain momentum. The remaining phases will be carried out during night shifts until August 4, with traffic halts on the Kopri flyover, said the officer. The project is part of TMC's effort to improve connectivity and decongest the area around the station. The planning and execution of the girder installation was led by Additional Municipal Commissioner Sandeep Malvi, Deputy City Engineer Sudhir Gaikwad, and Executive Engineer Dhananjay Mode.

Kapil Patil challenges development claims by sitting Bhiwandi MP, demands proof of work
THANE: Former Union Minister of State and former Member of Parliament from Bhiwandi, Kapil Patil, took a sharp dig at the current MP, Suresh (Balya Mama) Mhatre, challenging him to provide proof of his claimed development work. At a press conference organised to present a decade-long record of development in the Bhiwandi Lok Sabha constituency, Patil questioned the credibility of the current MP's recent statements. 'If the present Member of Parliament completed as many development projects in the last year as he claims, then let him show them to the people—and we will be the first to honour him,' Patil said. Patil engaged in a detailed discussion with journalists on key issues such as the prominent development works over the past decade, the Kalyan Metro, the proposed indoor stadium at Subhash Maidan, the renaming of Navi Mumbai Airport to D.B. Patil, the Lok Sabha elections, the poor condition of the Bhiwandi-Wada highway, the Marathi-Non-Marathi dispute, the KDMC elections, and the slow progress of the SATIS project under the Smart City initiative in the Kalyan station area. 'If someone is genuinely working for development, it doesn't matter which party they belong to. If someone is truly working in the public interest and shows us the work, we should not have any resentment about it. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pirates Climb Aboard Cargo Ship - Watch What The Captain Did Next Tips and Tricks Undo Over the past ten years, we approved development projects worth at least Rs 28 to 29 thousand crores, and you will see that all these projects are underway. And they claim that all these projects were completed in one year, so we should also ask them to show at least a couple of the projects they have done,' Kapil Patil criticised the current MP Balya Mama Mhatre without naming him. About 85% of the metro work in Bhiwandi city is complete, and Patil criticised the previous coalition govt for the delay in the metro coming to Kalyan due to their indifference. He accused the coalition govt of completely neglecting the approval of the revised DPRs for both Bhiwandi and Kalyan, which led to the delay of the Kalyan Metro. However, he expressed confidence that the current Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, recently approved both DPRs, and the work on the Kalyan Metro will begin soon. Box: "An investigation should be conducted into the organisation using the name of Rajmata Jijamata for corruption..." Rajmata Jijamata not only shaped Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj but also the entire Maharashtra. Therefore, she holds a place of respect and reverence in everyone's heart. However, if a contractor organisation is using Jijamata's name for corruption and fraudulent work, the state govt should take action to prevent them from using this name, Kapil Patil criticised the Jijau organisation and its head, Nilesh Sambre, without naming him over the poor construction of the Bhiwandi-Wada road. Due to the deplorable condition of the much-discussed Bhiwandi-Wada road, 21 people died so far, and many have been disabled. Several social organisations have also protested against the poor condition of this road. Additionally, Kapil Patil indicated that he corresponded with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding all these matters, and an investigation will commence at the appropriate time.
